We had a similar model back when proform made it and I found it much quieter and more stable when you run at the back of the belt. Which make sense when you described it like a diving board

Your experience mirrors mine exactly. I have the x22i. Love running and hiking on it during the winter months. All of Tommy Rivs series, and many other trainers, are engaging and challenging. Active pulse has been hit or miss, but when it hits it does feel like magic. Customer service is atrocious. I didn't know I was becoming a treadmill repair man with this purchase.

Sounds like a shitty company that nobody should do business with.

I was in the market for a NordicTrack incline trainer and glad that I decided to go the commercial route and was able to find a good deal on a Freemotion incline trainer model i11.9. This is the same treadmill at my local 24 hour fitness gym that I was very familiar with and used often. This thing is a beast.. yes it was used as it was from a gym that closed down but parts for these are available online. It's been a year of daily use and it's held up really well.

Thanks for the review. Up in The Great White North (where it is has been below -20 all week) a treadmill is a necessity, and we all have a love/hate relationship with the darn things. I need a new one, and your experience with poor customer support makes this unit not an option. Thanks for the honest review. I purchased the x11i from someone on FB market place for 50 bucks. I love it. It does wobble when you run fast but I do not usually run that fast and I also love the 40 degree incline.

I have the x32i. It's a great product for my needs. But I've experienced belt alignment issues. It favors one side at the beginning of the workout and the other side by the end of the workout. I've gotten used to walking the belt back in line. The customer service is s__t. I can only describe it as trying to reach a shady cousin that owes you money.

“I have 30-40 pairs of earbuds”…spoken like a true tech KZreadr! I have a relatively cheap treadmill that was left in my house by the previous owners. It’s “ok” but but not an incline trainer. Sometimes the belt momentarily catches or sticks and I get the sensation that I might fall off. Fun stuff!

Hey Dave, I have the same model X11i and love it. Bought it in 2017, moved it 2 times PITA, it weights a ton. I don't have the vibration issues but mine is and has been on carpet the entire time. And yes, I do run at 9,10,11, and 12. Just bought the extended warranty and they sent me a new console and incline motor for $ 250. Great deal in my book. I have over 250 workouts on this beast of a machine. I don't use iFit, don't use the music or video, watch TV or KZread external. $3000 for 5 years, give me that deal anytime. I have punished this treadmill at times and it's given it right back. 20%+ incline with -6% decline not many offer than. Agree about customer support.

Glad I came across this, thanks for your review. While I'd like the incline feature for ultra training, the running aspect is too important so I'll steer clear of the X series. Must admit I'd be much more interested if they had a more open platform... I know they'd like to keep you locked into a walled garden where you're spending a significant amount each month but I prefer what you get with a turbo trainer, where I can pick my poison and know it'll just work - plus I can choose my own display.

I bought the x321 a month ago and so far I love it. The only things I don’t like so far, and they’re just minor annoyances, are it’s insanely heavy to move and the place for your water bottle is awkward to reach. I actually took a paint cup, one of those cheap plastic ones with a handle, and tied it onto the rail. Looks tacky but it works. Other than that I am really enjoying the IFit workouts

Dope ass review. Also, love that I can see you responding to so many comments. I'm still on the fence about this one. I like to interval train for short stints at those higher speeds even though I can't keep them up, but I also like to climb hills and this seems like a good alternative to a stepmill. Also, I weigh about 250 and I worry about how it will bounce when I run at even lower speeds with my weight. But Nordictrack sucking with customer service is very concerning. They say all of the right things to make their customer service look good, such as offering great warranties, but their strategy seems to be making it as difficult as possible on the back end to actually collect on those promises. The real truth is that I probably don't need it. My local gym has some Precors and I love them, but the best ones are so expensive, but also so stable. I wonder if they've improved any of their mechanical issues on the newer models. I love my S21i, bike.

I bought two 150$ used PaceMaster ProPlus II and put blocks of wood under one for inclines. I put it so it goes from 15% to 30%, didn't try more but should work higher. Much cheaper if you only want to do incline. Running flats hurt me a lot, but climbing hard for hours is pain free.

I have the X11i as well. Totally agree with you on their customer service; it is horrible. I’m still waiting for a call back regarding a claim.

I bought a Commercial 2450. It is two years old. It has worked great until last week when the motherboard died. Called tech support, waited 90 mins until they called me back. With the tech support rep, we did a live video call. He looked at the treadmill and told me that the motherboard had died. They sent me a new motherboard for free for me to replace. The treadmill is working again. Easy to replace. Good video as always.

OK, so I've got a question about connected apps - particularly Garmin's. I like to have my main data store as Garmin. Does iFit now work sufficiently to allow a good level of data to move to Garmin to give you a clearer and more representative view of your daily activity? I'm now looking to retire another NordicTrack product that iFit is decommissioning - removing the workout functionality. This makes me leery about going with another NT product. I'd be curious to see whether the newer units fix some of the problems that you've encountered - particularly the vibrations.

Can you share the link to those rubber pads please? Thanks for the video.

Thank you for this update. I was going to buy one of these from NordicTrack, but went with the Sole F85 because of the issues you shared. I backpack and hike a ton, so the incline training is super appealing. I also run, so a treadmill I can’t run on is a deal breaker.

Also got the F85 and top TM! Had to get the customer service to replace the deck, less than a minute waiting on the phone and very fast responding to mails. Don't really do hiking so running is fine enough :)

Have you considered heavier springs? Also, think about the suspension like your car suspension. Try to drive without shocks over bumps. The car will bounce like a pogo stick and if have consistent bumps it will feel like a high frequency hum. I might fab a strut into the suspension.

you might have to "improvise" with your incline running if you plan on keeping that machine, i.e., either construct some type of platform to slide underneath the upper end to "brace it" as in a wooden platform or maybe cinder blocks or something else, only problem is that you wouldn't be able to incline/decline at will, you would have to incline to the degree you want, set your platform under it, then start your run, when done, do the reverse order.

Did they find a way to fix the bouncing as you ran at a faster pace? Mine didn't do that, but now it is. It's as if something broke loose?

I have the Nordic x22i and have the same issue with it bouncing like crazy. Happened to me first time today as it’s the first time I ran 10mph and it ruined my workout 😢

I have the X32i and the deck has been great for running. The software is slow and I can’t believe that a $4500 treadmill doesn’t have an Ethernet port. The arms never went on due to the threading holes being off center. The guys who delivered it couldn’t get them on and I couldn’t get them on. Not a big deal for me because it’s a more authentic running experience without them but it negates the sledding feature. Customer service is dead awful. Would I buy it again, that’s a tough question. I like ifit’s trainers. They have helped get me in shape. But now that Wahoo has put out the Kickr tread I’m buying that and never looking back. I have the Kickr bike and it’s been amazing for Zwift.

I have the x22i. To have the radio and the active pulse do you have to have an active ifit membership? Are there guides for setting up these features? Some other questions: 1. Can you feed a TV source to the monitor on the treadmill? 2. Can you access a web browser for youtube etc? 3. Is your speed very limited when you have the treadmill on a decline? I would love to be able to train downhills better. I haven't run on it too much, and have had it for 2-years. I have just started doing some short incline walking. So I can't comment on the vibration issue, but it is generally noisy. I'm located in Australia and I don't know if we have different firmware or machines to the USA ones.

I believe you do need an active ifit subscription for both features. 1. No, I really wish it did this. I think they blocked this because then people wouldn't buy the larger 22" and 32" models since a 32" TV is way cheaper. 2. No, there was a hack called "privileged mode" (google it) for a while that allowed you to access the android backbone of the console and install any android apps including netflix, youtube, heck... even a built in camera. But NordicTrack has since disabled this and locked it out. Super frustrating. 3. Max speed is reduced on decline mode to 6.6mph. I mentioned this in my first review. It's annoying because most people typically run faster downhill but I think it's a safety feature to prevent people from tripping.

I got this treadmill in May 2020. It was actually rattle/clunk free until January 2021. So just now noticing that the repair people have been here 5 times for that rattle/clunk issue you say is just part of the treadmill. Ugh! They are about to replace the incline motor though. I guess that's not going to fix it either.

Great video. These guys are notoriously bad at the CS piece and have been for years now. I remember how worried I was to buy from another one of their brands, but I went ahead anyway. I had one of their ProForm treadmills though for 3 years and apart from a few squeaks it was fine. Had my Peloton Tread for a year now and have never been happier with a purchase.

@@ChaseTheSummit Keep up the great work, really appreciate the work that goes into these videos. When I saw the Nordic Track name I knew it wouldn’t be good. I do miss running with Rivs though, that guy is an inspiration.

I bought an X7i in late 2015, it had issues from day one and the post-purchase customer service from Icon (owner of NordicTrack) sucked just like you describe, and this was pre-pandemic. Basically the incline only worked intermittently - it would go up and get stuck there. Icon did send a service tech out three different times (always a fight - they'd try to just send a part and have me install it) but they never could figure out what was wrong with it. Finally the tech got frustrated and ratted me out for having the treadmill in an unheated garage, and Icon canceled my warranty. Of course they don't tell you that having it in an unheated garage voids your warranty - you only find that out after it's been delivered. All my other treadmills have been in same place & done fine...mild climate here, etc. Icon would say 'just move it inside and we'll reinstate your warranty' but as you mention, the thing weighs an absolute shit-ton and really isn't portable to any degree, plus I don't have any place indoors for it anyway. So after a couple of years of fighting with Icon I gave up and took the thing to the dump. Very frustrating. Sorry for the rant... and I don't even feel better now! Lol.

@@ChaseTheSummit That rule was nowhere to be found except in the warranty information that gets delivered along with the big heavy crate that the machine came on. Believe me, I looked! I'd bet any money the situation is the same today - you get the fine print when you unbox the treadmill.

My back right hand frame cracked…. Waited on hold for 60 minutes to be told we had to call the Canadian number. They have a 10 year frame warrantee so we will see what they say tomorrow.

have you tried adding a cushioning elastic block (I would guess latex would be best) below the front part of the treadmill, which has the highest oscillation amplitude? I wonder if that would reduce or even eliminate the vibration.

Yup, I have thick vibration dampening pads under the feet and it did help but didn't solve the problem completely.

@@ChaseTheSummit thanks, I noticed those pads that you mentioned placing under the feet, however that is not what I meant. because, as you said, it's essentially a diving board, I would rather try to block the tip the board ( the front end), where the largest oscillation happens, by placing a very thick (several inches) of dampening material (not sure what would be good, rubber? memory foam? hard latex?). I feel that placing the thinner pads under the feet you did not really address the core of the issue. Just wondering if that would work. I was looking today at a couple of video reviews of NordicTrack x22i and 2950 and I noticed indeed the problem you mentioned, with 2950 being much more stable - essentially because the front end is fixed in that model.

Oddly no, but “running power” does though I don’t know how? Elevation data does go to Strava if you do a pre-made course on the map screen which is even stranger!

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I have a possible fix for your vibration issue. I have an Xterra 3500 treadmill that similarly vibrates at high speeds. I tried several different solutions to try to fix the problem. The one that worked: I put a 5 pound weight plate under the front of the treadmill, and now it no longer vibrates at high speeds. So try putting a weight plate underneath the front of your treadmill to see if this fixes the problem.

It's hit and miss with these products. I have the exact same model (X11i) and have had it since April, 2015. Outstanding piece of gear, I've trained for half/full marathons and, countless 60 minute HIIT programs. I'm over 6 feet tall and weigh 185 Lb. Ours has over 1000 miles on the odometer and is still going strong with routine maintenance. If it dies on me I would seriously consider the Peleton however, I cannot discount another incline trainer.

I bought the same model used about a year ago. So far so good (fingers crossed).!

I have the x32i and I haven't been more disappointed with my purchase. Less than 200 workouts with most at slow speeds and it broke after 13 months of use. That was back in January and it's now been 7 months to try ro get it fixed. It's still not repaired. $5k for this was not at all worth it. Customer service is mostly overseas in India. My first technician was mostly unresponsive. Nordictrack has refused to replace the treadmill so now I have a $5k paperweight. Ifit has changed and removed features and other bonuses foe doing workouts without clear communications. The shipping on the treadmill took an additional 4 months. Stay away from Nordictrack they just don't know what they are doing with treadmills. Maybe they should have stuck to that skiing machine.

I wonder if the bouncing is fixed now that they have changed the body design on the 2022 model.

The new x22i looks like a MUCH better thought out design. It's no longer a "diving board" now that they're supporting the deck at both ends. I haven't tried it yet but I suspect it solved a lot of issues. Hopefully I can get my hands on one!

strangely, because of the new singular column design, people are complaining from a rocking of a side to side motion when they walk as the impact strikes of people's feet occur off of the centerline of the main support column.

It's not terribly hard to install. As I recall the hardest part was flipping the treadmill on it's side. That puppy isn't light!

I own a precor. I can run fast with no bouncing. I have to say I love it minus the fact it doesn’t have smart trainer features. It is not an incline trainer and goes to 15%.

@@ChaseTheSummit I got lucky as there was a precor store a few miles from my house and my Google research showed good reviews. I feel like the treadmill industry is a sh show.

I bought one of these as a birthday present for my wife. Unfortunately, waiting for her birthday ran out the 30 day return clock, so we're stuck with it. Assembly will require two things they don't mention: A tap and die set (U.S. not metric this time), and a roll of black duct tape. Assembly was straightforward except for the fact that the screws don't go in the threaded holes. The factories in China run their taps well beyond their useful life, so you have to chase the holes. I've had this problem with other products, not just Nordictrack. The vertical ones are too deep for a standard tap, but those did just barely work without chasing. This may be why they're having the factory ship with screws in the holes, so at least you can get them started. But the ones for the long screws that hold the handle bars onto the machine just wouldn't work at all. Once you get past the thread problem, the rest of the assembly is easy. The other problem is the plastic covers that are supposed to snap around the screws you just put in to hold the uprights to the base. The little loops break off. The cover on the right side is particularly important because it protects the delicate little wires that connect the controls and screen to the motors. I like Gorilla brand tape for this. The wi-fi thing was a mess, more so than is typical. We had it working for a while, fortunately long enough to determine that it was completely useless and unnecessary. There's a paperclip in a hole reset that solves that problem, but leaves you with their clunky manual mode. It takes three minutes to boot up, and you have to do two screen presses to get into manual mode. Use it immediately because there's a ten minute time-out that'll shut it down and make you do the re-boot again. The screen would be nice if you could get KZread, Amazon, Netflix, etc. on it. But it's really just there to upsell you on their canned workouts. The solution to the screen thing is to just hang an iPad in front of it. The iPad is smaller than the screen, so we put a piece of cardboard between them to eliminate the glare. The high step up from the floor to the belt is annoying. It's quieter than the old one it replaced, but it has an intermittent squeak that seems to sync with some footsteps.

i have excellent customer service from nordic track,,,,,, because i don't have one. lol. however, i do have an older nordic track "designated climber" treadmill-(official name- "nordic track adventurer") that goes to 25% incline, i also constructed a wooden incline platform-(about 15ish degree angle) to place under the treadmill making the 25% go to 35-40ish% when i feel like doing so. the tread climber is an older model, prolly round 2000 ish or so, back when nordic track was better-(guessing), it is built like a tank, it's in my garage along with the weather inclements, still running strong, dusty, dirty, still using it, not too loud, same belt that i came with, everything is original, no vibrations, smooth/solid, goes up to 6mph with a handful of programs (although i make my own programs), measures about 42"lx41w"x57"h and i bought it off of craigslist back in 2011-12 range for about $100. i consider it one of the best buys i have ever purchased regarding any type of fitness equipment, as a matter of fact, i would put my money on that it can still hold it's own compared to other models and of other brands of whatever kind of treadmills out there. with all that being said, very suspect of newer models treadmills, no matter what brand it is, and that goes with all other items not just treadmills, quality gets muddied down when companies start outsourcing and hiring cheap labor along with parts with too many processes in the production of anything not just treadmills. younger people just don't know how good and important QUALITY is with older products of anything. back in the day, most everything was good, quality came before profit, so did quality customer service, no automated lines to listen to and no poor english speaking/hard to understand people to listen to, so the old cliche of "they don't make things like they use to" is true, i lived through it.

FOUR young kids. You are amazing. Don’t know how you can do it! Nordic Trac? Absolute rubbish. My first one died after 18 months of incredibly light use and the second is showing similar signs. Spend the money on something with less gimmicks and better engineering. (These are non incline models, totally take your point on the only game in town in that area - though see Fellrnr on raising the back of your normal treadmill to run downhill).

I've considered the hack of raising a standard treadmill but never went through the hassle! Thanks for watching!

I think across multiple industries customer service has gone completely to garbage. No one seems to want to help anymore and could care less about the consumer.

I've had good luck with certain brands. NordicTrack isn't one of them lol.

It's great...when it works. I got the 2450. Damn thing cost me 2K. After 2 months from buying it, the base platform split down the middle. Nordictrack insisted I had to install the mailed replacement. Like changing a tire...OK. 1-2 hours later, I had it going again only to have it the same day shut off at random times, while running fast or slow. They mailed me a new motherboard to install. I insisted on a tech this time to do the labor. They say none are available, so it sits unused for 2 months. Nordictrack gives capitalism a bad name. I pray for your business downfall. I hate you Nordictrack!

Thanks for the review but HELL NO, will not buy this treadmill. I'll be getting a remanufactured TRUE Alpine Runner because it's not a flimsy POS. Just a few hundred more than a new X32i and will actually function well and last forever.

It's a expensive 2000 dollar treadmill ... You can't run on. Thanks for the heads up. I will a NOT be buying one of these. 😆

I bought an x22i 5 years ago, iFit was super buggy, constant crashes of the app, -- Nordictrack kept giving me extra free time in iFit. I only paid for 1 year of iFit, and 5 years later I have 16 months left in my subscription. I got gifted 4+ years of free iFit subscription. I had the screen replaced, the incline motor (after troubleshooting it for years). Their support was MUCH better before covid. I could get someone on the phone within a few minutes, now -- yes its 1hr + of hold music. I had an extended warranty on my x22i, and after yet another fail of part replacement Nordictrack made an offer, basically half of a new incline trainer of my choice. So because when it works, its great, I went with it and after some issues with delivery (they can't ship these things without them being destroyed or come complete), I now have the x22 Elite. First impression wasn't great. I run a lot, so my first 90 min run a bolt fell out (not critical its way overbuilt, but not great) -- and after 2 3 hr phone calls with Nordictrack, I bought some longer 3/8" bolts on Amazon, instead of dealing with a repair person ripping the treadmill apart (which they offered, apparently $14 of bolts was not something they could authorize and they wanted to replace the entire base assembly). So now that its solid and secure, it's awesome. Customer support still sucks. Using the shortest bolts possible is just stupid for $5k treadmill. The new screen so far is super responsive, the change in the elite is there are 2 incline motors, so the treadmill doesn't bounce. I can run fast and it's rock solid, it's not quiet, no treadmill would be, I typically do 9min miles for a 10 mile run, so i go at good clip for long runs, and will push it for sprints, but the design change of using 1 motor for negative incline and 2nd at the front for positive makes it much more rigid. My original treadmill was crazy bouncy like yours, the elite is not. Not even at the upper end of the speed, 10-11 mph sprints -- stable. I should call iFit and let them know that I don't need a tech and longer bolts got things sorted -- and they can give me 3 more free months of iFit, but I need to be in the right frame of mind to be on hold for 90 minutes.
