Excellent videos! I’ve just recently found the DH channel and find both Megan’s and Josh’s insights and discussions fascinating. I also love the Misquoting Jesus podcast. I’ve been an agnostic atheist for years now but never knew there were so many great channels and discussions dissecting the roots of modern religions within these ancient beliefs and transcripts. I always had an idea that religions were born out of a combination of humankind’s limited understanding of the universe and fear/uncertainty of death, hardship and morality. I’m so glad I’ve started down my rabbit hole of peeling back the layers and seeing how Judaism evolved out of these Sumerian religions and mythology and then continued to evolve through early Christianity all the way to today.

So I kind of wonder about this tablet VI. Its possible that Anu in the East was also the bull of the heaven, as was in the west. In the Epic the bull is leashed to a rope and handed off to Isthar. Could this represent a transfer of power from Anu and Enlil to Ishtar during the reign of Sargon. When the bull's member is taken to the temple its Ishtar's prirst who are praying over it. This is somewhat remenescent of the story of Isis, Seth, Osirus.

Im loving the story, but I was wondering, since the words at 5:40 - 5:49: "He had him lie down, in a circle of flower. And spreading out like a net, Enkidu... *(missing bit)* ...lay down in the doorway." Is word for word identical to the section at 7:21 - 7:27(and without anything else "filling in the gap"), does that mean/indicate, that there is nothing missing from the first section, or is the same thing missing from both sentences? Or am I reading too much into that?

Seems like it was a song when phrases are repeated…?

I actually wonder if it isn't a story for children. The text is pretty simplistic and the repeating of phrases I recognize from modern children's stories. The theme and content of the story isn't really suitable for children, in my opinion, but there are currently people that think it is fine to read the bible to their children and that is much, much worse, so who knows what these ancient people thought was suitable for their children?

Thank you for reading this. Gilgamesh is the real monster here. And what the hell is with Enkidu? He was one with the animals, and now he is happy to murder the guardian of the forest. Geez, what a savage blood thirsty work. I hope that someone finds some lovely peaceful story somewhere in those piles of clay tablets. Yeeeesh.

It’s a rare medical condition, I’m afraid. It spontaneously changes colour every time someone announces they can’t possibly take me seriously because I have weird glasses/colourful hair/am female. No known cure!

@@DigitalHammurabi OK. I just wondered. Perhaps it meant something. I'm not used to seeing that colour hair here in Denmark. Honestly. Great channel you have. Very interesting.
