Gilgamesh was a Nephilim. His father was a fallen angel that had sex with a mortal woman. Gilgamesh was destroyed in the Great Flood. This is explained in the Book of Enoch and the Book of Giants. Read both it's very important that you understand what the Nephilim are.

A comment on the analysis... each time I've read or heard a reading of the poem, I always interpret the preamble where he explains that Gil is all knowing, has been everywhere, done everything, etc. (and especially brought back knowledge from before the flood) to indicate that he's telling us about Gil's "final form" at the end of his hero's journey rather than an innate knowledge he was born with. My take away was always: "let me tell you about this incredible hero. he has been to the edge of the world and back, and here's how it happened:" He clearly does have some kind of clairvoyance because he gets prophetic visions, but those visions often unsettle him and he needs to seek counsel from his mother or Enkidu on how to even process them... it seems pretty clear that it's an imperfect gift that falls far short of omniscience. Just my two cents.

Agree. Tales from this early in the world's history would treat these dreams far more like divine visions (sent from an actual god) rather than any sort of godlike power or psychic ability that Gilgamesh might have possessed. We see this sort of symbolical dream throughout the OT biblical narrative, as well.(possibly inspired, in part, by The Epic.)

There are 2 things that I take from this telling. 1) That Enkidu appears to be the first Sasquatch. And 2) There is a possibility that Gilgamesh and Enkidu were a sort of twins. One was two thirds god and one third man, and the other, two thirds beast and one third man. One sent to be "raised" in the wild and one raised as the goddesses son. Enkidu seems to have a little something from the gods also tho, as do the Sasquatch. Maybe they are his offspring?

I see a lot of similarities with Genesis in the Bible. The wild man Enkidu is created by Anu (who was the highest of the gods / Elohim) and becomes like the gods (that is what the harlot said) after sleeping with the harlot which tempted him to do so. God in the Bible said Adam and Eve would "become like us" if they ate the forbidden fruit. From the moment he sleeps with the harlot he loses his innocence and is kicked from the wilderness and suddenly has shame, just like Adam and Eve. Ziusudra was instructed by Enki to build a boat, but prostrated himself after the flood to Anu and Enlil to gain their favors back. The Bible just combines these 3 gods to 1 unnamed god. Abraham was a Sin (the moongod) worshipper, both Ur and Harran were the main cities of the Sin cult. Almost all his relatives are named after titles of Sin or his relatives or things to do with the moon. Sarratu (= “princess”) was a title of the moon-goddess, consort of Sin, a title of Istar, among the deities worshipped in Harran. Laban = Full moon Milcah is the same as the name of the goddess Malkatu, the daughter of Sin. Then arrived in Canaan and converted to the Canaanite god El or pantheon after meeting Melchizedek. It seems like the Abrahamic religion just took the plots of Mesopotamian stories and replaced the gods in the story with "God". They just adapted the oldest stories they knew of for their mythological period stories.

At first, I was somewhat turned off by a “cartoon” presentation. However, a few minutes into the story, it dawned on me that the artistry accompanying this narration is actually exquisite. It is better than a story accompanied by videos of a few stone ruins of a once mighty city. I don’t know who the narrator is, but in case you are unaware, narration is a an art in which only very few indeed become proficient. Narrators must have natural talent, but I’d say all consummate narrators likely have spent years perfecting the art of speech. This narrator is first class. If you are a history freak like me, you must have heard of the Legend of Gilgamesh. I noticed that people from his part of the world are extremely proud of this king of the first city. I long ago made a mental note to learn the story of Gilgamesh. Now I have run across a great way to accomplish this. It is apparent that the real Gilgamesh was indeed quite a redoubtable person, even without his accompanying mythology. Thanks for this presentation!

Let’s look a Nebuchadnezzar… he also had fallen into a sin and turned into a wild beast for 7 years. Very good video and narration. Much appreciation. I wanted to comment that I just realized how closely this story is referenced in Hercules myths... Gilgamesh reminds me heavily of Hercules at the moment and even the association to subduing a lion with the bare hands is visible in both... Hercules goes through many trials and ends up weary while Gilgamesh adventured all over the land and eventually became weary and travelled.. I could see how the myths migrated and evolved and how some parallels could be drawn... Of course the stories are much different but Hercules and Gilgamesh have a lot in common...

Gilgamesh is Nimrod the mighty hunter in the Bible. He was given the clothes that God made for Adam and Eve when He expelled them from the garden of Eden. The clothes have special powers.

No. No he is not Nimrod. Two different mythologies. Sure, Nimrod is a offshoot of Gilgamesh, just like how Yahweh is a offshoot of Baal, the Canaanite & Phoenician God of: thunder, lighting, Agriculture, Fertility & Good-harvest. But, that does not mean that they are the same.

Stitchen never did translate...anything actually. He admits to not knowing how to read any of the texts but, "translates on his feelings and imagined stories." The whole "alien race here to mine gold" is a pile of B.S. These early texts mention gold exactly....0 times. Iraq history is the history of all civilizations! No need to throw aliens into it!
