I predict some will get mad at me for saying this but sometimes Dr K just seems to come up with explanations or solutions to things instead of having real knowledge. If you can speak in a certain way and make the thing seem plausible enough, people will buy your explanations. If you go to almost any psychology department to talk with the scientists about the issues of self-awareness, you'll get quite likely as many explanations or views as there are people working there. These are vague issues still unsettled in the science and I wish people were a little bit more skeptical when someone (even a professional) gives definitive answers as if the answer was obvious. As a professional myself there are many times I would have an issue with what Dr K is saying, but he is usually in a position of authority. It's easier to convince an audience of laypeople than to pursue a career where you have to convince those who are your peers.

You are not hypersensitive by default. There is a reason you are hypersensitive to something, anything. If we take your example, 'a parent who tells you that you do not care enough' Our parents can be wise teachers, and they can sometimes be wrong. Or they can sometimes be repetitive or hurtful even when telling the truth. Sit and rest on these thoughts. Breath and focus on your hypersensitivity, let your emotions wash over you and accept the situation for what it is, your life, your parents, their judgements of you, your so called not caring enough, now back to the breath, breath in, breath out, and notice that life is okay, that no matter what happens in life you have can breathe and find peace in your self.

After an accident left me with back pain and stiffness it was never the same, I could no longer sit upright perfectly still and find that "zen" without focusing on the pain and discomfort. It's actually one of the things I'm most upset by from the accident. I never did get back into it like I was, but it was the best I'd felt and I hope to one day get back there and learn to work around it.

I've already realized this during very difficult times... I thought that the images and conclusions i've achieved while meditating were nonsense and uselless. But then, i've found Dr. K. Thank you!! i've never felt more validated... If you realized this, as well, feel no fear. That's learning!

3 minutes in and I'm just filled with joy as Dr K guides the conversation to just be and laugh and enjoy. Small moment of nirvana got me and I was able to be in the moment and laugh like a child. This is so rare. Of course it was immediately followed by the awareness of the pent of trauma I feel as a baseline haha but it was nice while it lasted.

I struggle with hypersensitivity and over-awareness but have made huge strides lately. Turns out I was chronically under consuming salt and it was putting my brain into fight or flight, making me hypersensitive. I use extra salt on food now and also supplement and it's changed my life.

Neat, I grew up on a farm where, some seasons, I would drive a tractor for hours at a time I would often sit with my own thoughts rather than listen to the radio. I've always liked being with myself to this day and have generally felt pretty centered. I was reminded of this throughout this video then it was fully spelled out at 16:00 😀 I can vouch for that!
