This tree is located in Bernards Township, NJ. After seeing it in Weird NJ magazine I decided to take a roadtrip out to see it for myself. Despite many claims of the tree no longer standing it stands in plain sight off Mountain Road. Driving by your eyes are almost drawn to it as it has an omnious look. It's said that people were once hung from its branches and its was now an entrance to hell because of it. This is why today its become somewhat of an attraction. The tree is said to be warm to the touch because of the fires from hell. The trunk of the tree is also encased in chain link fence to keep people from trying to cut it down, some axe marks are left behind as evidence of that. . There are many who find this tree evil due to its history and the legends. Others are trying to protect and preserve it. Whatever you believe, theres no denying the tree looks odd.

@@prod_dark Its been sevenl years since i posted this, but I do still remember my trip there. I actually went there with a chainsaw, but there was metal fencing around it to prevent someone with a bright idea like that from cutting it down, as can be seen at the 2:28 timestamp. :/ I also couldnt get a good angle above the fencing to cut it a bit higher up unfortunately. Interestingly enough, the ground there was quite warm when i touched it. I was wondering what the logical explanation for it may have been, like warm pipes underground or something, but I couldn't prove anything definitively. If so, that explains why nobody wants the tree cut down, as the roots could be upended and damage the piping. Just theorizing at this point though. Sorry to disappoint.
