A trick I've seen with frog tape is instead of priming with the wall color, wipe the taoe with a damp rag. The tape is moisture activated.

It's better to buy the car after your home purchase. I've read not to take out any major loans or credit 6 months prior to home purchasing so don't worry you did it right! Your house is awesome.
