MCU FOREVER

As a viewer from Latam, having el chapulin colorado be the last scene in the DCEU is a really nice nod to superhero culture within our region. I watched the Chapulin show every day when I came home from school so even if it doesn't fit the themes in the DCEU at ALL I feel like it's a great conclusion to the blue beetle movie in and of itself

Excellent point...I thought the nod to the Chapulin show was an excellent way to end Blue Beetle and was a nice tie-in with the movie. So it's a really enjoyable post-credit scene. I was just hoping they would honor the legacy of the DCEU with some type of thank you to the fans for hanging in there for 10 years with the shared universe at the end of the Aquaman movie. That was the real bummer. But, I'm excited about the new DCU and was happy to hear that Gunn wants to include Blue Beetle in it...Blue Beetle was honestly the best DC movie that came out this year, so that was welcome news that Jaime's story will continue on!

@@AbitofEverything4U I mean to be fair, the 2023 slate was made not knowing this would be it and i actually struggle to think how they could've wrapped the DCEU neatly in a post-credit scene, unless you had like a 5-10 minute scene or something. But also i think they want to keep doors open in the event James wants to carry them over, like we heard that Levi's Shazam future in the DCU hinged on if Fury of the Gods was succesfull according to an interview as the director said that James was open to wrapping the trilogy as part of the DCU, as Shazam doesn't clash with his plans, so had Shazam been been a hit, Shazam 3 would've continued into the DCU. so maybe the same with Aquaman, even though we heard that Jason may do Lobo, maybe they wanted to keep the door open in the off-chance they may carry over Jason as Aquaman if this movie does well, instead of closing the doors. Then again they are keeping Blue Beetle and that flopped.

​@@eagc7 I think what I would have loved to see is just something honoring the "big 6" and saying good bye to the fans. Even something as simply as having the signatures of each cast member appear on the screen, like they did at the end of Endgame would have been cool. And Endgame got the idea from Star Trek VI, so it would be fine if DC did it as well. Just thought that would have been cool.

So it seems pretty likely that James Gunn will re-canonize The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker and Blue Beetle into the DCU. Birds of Prey is pretty likely a contender as well. As for the original Suicide Squad, I think a really genius move would be to release David Ayer’s original cut of the film, while removing any references to Superman being dead in the final edit. Problem solved.

I know you posted this 5 months ago so it is a out dated comment, but just wanted to inform you that 'The Suicide Squad', 'Peacemaker' (S1), and 'Blue Beetle' will only be LOOSE CANNON meaning a version of these events happened in the DCU but not exactly. There still is a chance that in the future James Gunn might add 'Blue Beetle' to the proper DCU canon since it really isn't placed in ANY DC universe solidly and is just its own thing, I really hope this is the route they go.

So basically right after you replied it seems that the 'Blue Beetle' film is now proper DCU canon (not 100% confirmed by Gunn as of right now), this is because they announced a Blue Beetle animated series that is the continuation of the 'Blue Beetle' film but also is in the DCU, soooooo it seems that 'Blue Beetle' 2023 is now proper canon although not 100% confirmed yet. Also for the Peacemaker / Suicide Squad side of things, 'Creature Commandos' story will be taking place after 'Peacemaker' S1 according to James Gunn. How this all can even happen supposedly will be explained in S2.

Yeah, at this point I’m just waiting for something new to come out so that we can verify what is and what isn’t canon. It’s all so confusing right now, tbh.

Just a couple of notes on this one! Solid job,I think you've given more thought to timeline continuity than Warner Brothers did. My first comment regards Aquaman 1.If we use the (in my opinion far superior) Snyder cut of Justice League, to me it seems like Aquaman 1 flows immediately out of it. He leaves that movie in Europe,says he's going to see his dad and hits the water. Then Aquaman 1 starts and he has the submarine incident on his way to Maine where his dad is. I didn't see anything in the movie to indicate that a year is past . But I could be wrong. I don't revisit these as often as I do Marvel. As an aside,I think there was a huge missed opportunity post-Justice League to have tighter continuity. Follow me on this: The Ben Affleck Bstman movie would have spun right out of this with Deathstroke (and could have been the start of Lex putting together a Legion of Doom) but they also could have done a proper Wonder Woman sequel instead of doing WW84 and this sequel could have introduced consequences for the Amazon's. Maybe so many of them were killed by Steppenwolf that the queen would have insisted Diana return home. Now she has a conflict. As it is, the only 2 movies that directly grow out of Justice League are Aquaman and the Flash. If they did the Batman and Wonder Woman sequels and toss in a Man of Steel 2 (perhaps with Brainiac as a threat and perhaps teasing that Darkseid is getting closer to Earth,foreshadowing Justice League 2), then you have more of a Marvel style interconnected universe! Missed opportunity to be sure. My second point is if we accept Crisis on Infinite Earths as Canon, it's confusing. Because not only does the Flash reset things (or strand him in yet another universe, it's unclear) but also the CW itself reboots its multiverse IN THAT EVENT. Oy vey! But my point is way back when Supergirl was new,they did a crossover with the Flash show. On his show,he jumps out of his universe for a second and on his show makes no reference to having been in Supergirl's world for a couple days which,if you watched Supergirl, you saw. Most likely this is because they decided to fit the Supergirl appearance into a Flash episode that was already made. The shows were in 2 different countries and on different networks st the time so couldn't have been easy. My point is that episode makes it clear that time doesn't completely sync up between universes and in both realities we get multiverse collapse and reboot so the dates really don't matter. :)

Great feedback on the vid! I agree, it would have been amazing if they had used Justice League to launch several sequels, including The Batman and a better Wonder Woman. So many lost opportunities. Interesting thought about Aquaman happening earlier in the timeline. Certainly could be that it does happen closer to Justice League, which would then pull it earlier in the timeline than The Flash and keeping it before the reset (which ofc wasn't really a reset after all). And yeah, the crossover with CW is as confusing as can be. I included it for completeness, but I have no idea if it was meant to really be part of the DCEU continuity. Again, excellent feedback!

I believe that 6/1 you interpreted might’ve been 1/6 since they read it as 6th of January. That might out Aquaman at January 2018 & Aquaman 2 at June 2022 before the Flash but After Shazam 2

It’s sad to see the DCEU come to an end but I’m very excited to see what James Gunn brings in the DCU. I think it’ll be better overall for the MCU as well because they’ll finally have some competition.

Incredible breakdown! I appreciate that you included Crisis on Infinite Earths too. I hope that you will start a DCU timeline sheet like you did for the MCU/Sony-verse/Fox-verse, and include the DCEU and upcoming DCU. I suppose it could also include the Burton and Schumacher Batman films as The Flash crossed over with both, not to mention other universes colliding seen in the ending battle. That also gets tricky too because if you include Batman 89 and Batman Returns, there's also the appearance of that same universe "Earth-89" at the beginning of Crisis on Infinite Earths E1. By a similar token, where would you place Titans S4E9 "Dude, Where's My Gar?" When Gar is in The Red, he sees Shazam (among others), making it technically a crossover with the DCEU.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the vid. Yeah, I think the DCEU timeline works out pretty well. A few areas get tricky, but overall it was a very well managed timeline. I should definitely look at doing a spreadsheet for the DCU, as I think Gunn is really going to cook and give us something special. Can't wait!

There were so many projects that were not made that would have been so great to see from this universe. With James Gunn being in charge of the DCU, maybe we can see these unmade projects as part of the Else Worlds movies like the Joker sequel and The Batman Pt. 2, at least give us the Batgirl movie because it was already filmed.

I agree…a lot of those cancelled projects sounded great. Such a bummer they were never made, but I’m hoping Gunn can really deliver with the DCU!

The Flash ending doesn't mean George Clooney's Batman movies existed, nor does it even mean Michael Keaton's Batman movies did. Those actors played the same in-universe character for one thing. And for another I look at what happened as The Flash universe ending like the _What If...?_ series in the MCU. What if The Flash created a completely seperate universe where Bruce Wayne looked different than he did before the time travel? The DCEU wouldn't explain it even if they had time. It's always been part of the problem. They lack the overall world building and many movies were mediocer. People can complain about Phase 4 of the MCU all they want, but with a small few exceptions I'd rather watch everything in Phase 4 over most of what's in the DCEU. And concerning Aquaman. He was drunk for a night is how I looked at his Flash cameo. No big deal.

Excellent feedback. I definitely agree that Keaton, Kilmer and Clooney were all playing the same Batman in those 4 movies, but I got the impression that The Flash only canonized the first two movies. In other words, when Barry messed with time, it brought in Keaton's Batman and just his two movies, meaning that he had never teamed up with Robin in 3rd and 4th movies. I could be wrong about that, but that was my assumption. Regarding Clooney's appearance, it left me wondering whether Affleck had ever been Batman in the new timeline that Barry created. Ultimately, it was done as a joke, but it still left me very confused as to what they were trying to say happened at the end of The Flash. I don't know that it's a What If, per se, as it is where they left things with the universe. And if Aquaman 2 happens after The Flash (which seems to be the case), then the universe that Barry reset is still in place. Just a very odd way for them to end the DCEU. Sigh.

@@AbitofEverything4U I look at Keaton as it doesn't matter if it is or isn't off the first two movies. It's years after and it's head canon and another universe either way. And with George Clooney it isn't the movie he came from, but a alternate universe where he looks like that, and now Barry changed something during his time traveling to make him the normal, but we have to (unless the actually do explain it) head canon why everything (including George Clooney) will change from DCEU to the DCU. But as said above, that was the problem with the DCEU, there wasn't enough explanation or ties to make it feel feel like a connected universe.

Keaton, Kilmer and Clooney weren't the same Batman, but different versions. I guess you could say they are the same, but with different faces, and have the same story continuity. However, it was confirmed to be separate batmen, with separate story continuity. So they aren't all the same Batman, they are in fact variants in the multiverse.

@@peterlenham3180 I don't know who confirmed this, but considering the Batman series was long before a multiverse existed (or even sequels were very common), I'd say it's however a individual wishes to see it now that multiverses are a movie thing, rather than confirmation. When it comes to continuity the second movie doesn't even tie to the first one despite same actor and director, so an individuals viewpoint matters more than going by someone else's word. I see it how I see it and you see how you do and neither one of us is wrong because the DCEU will never answer the question.

Clooney did a good job as Batman and his movie overall was pretty good. I think what might have turned fans off is it was really campy, when the previous versions were abit more grounded. Plus, those "bat nipples" in the costumes gets panned pretty harshly. But I agree, Clooney himself was a very good Batman.

The DCEU is finally dead. The last scene of the DCEU is just a shame. We didn't really say goodbye to the universe. There is one question: The Knightmare scenes from Batman v Superman\SnyderCut - when does the events take place?

From what I understood with the disastrous DCEU was that it was like this: - Wonder Woman/ Occurs in the First World War - Wonder Woman 1984/ Takes place in the 80s - Man of Steel/ Takes place in 2013 - Batman V. Superman/ Takes place in 2015 - Suicide Squad (2016)/ Takes place in 2016 - Justice League/ Occurs in 2017 or Snyder Cut/ Occurs in 2016 (WITH ARGUMENTAL ERROR) - Aquaman/ Takes place in 2018 - Shazam! / Takes place at the end of 2018 - Birds of Prey/ Occurs at the beginning of 2020 - The Suicide Squad (2021) / Takes place in Mid-2020 - Peacemaker/ Occurs in Beginning of 2021 - Black Adam / Takes place at the end of 2021 - Shazam! 2: Fury of the Gods/ Takes place in May 2021 - The Flash / It happens I guess in mid last-2021 CLARIFICATIONS/CONTINUITY ERRORS - BvS, SS and JL are the most chaotic in terms of Chronology because 1.- In BvS it appears that 18 months have passed and taking into account that BvS must occur at least at the beginning of November (because of the Day of the Dead), that would mean that MoS occurs in May 2013 and BvS in November 2015, but here the problems begin. If that were the case, it makes no sense for The Flash to say that MoS happens in SEPTEMBER 2013 because that would be MARCH 2015 and that doesn't add up because of the Day of the Dead celebration. The options are either that we ignore the dates of The Flash or that BvS in 2015 but with a plot error 2.- In SS among Harley's files it says June 15, 2016 so I assume that was the day he went to prison, but here the problem is if we consider that the Snydercut is CANON it would mean that Harley was caught after reviving Superman (because in the Snydercut only 2 months or so passed due to Lois' pregnancy, which would be January 2015 or maybe a little more) here the problem in the movie is understood to occur AFTER BvS and before JL so from the post credits scene. 3.- If the Snyder Cut is CANON it would mean that it takes place in January 2016 and with the error I mentioned in point 2, but if Justice League is CANON it would mean that Superman spent 2 years dead, which makes no sense because in the peli it is implied that not much has happened since his death. Since in Shazam! 2 mention that 2 years and 5 months have passed, May 2021 and since in the movie they mention the Justice Society, it is understandable that it occurs after Black Adam and therefore Peacemaker because Harcourt appears already recovered and therefore The Suicide Squad because Cris is injured there and THEREFORE from Birds of Prey since in SS (2021) Harley mentions that she went shopping at a Bank and since in SS (2016) Harley was rescued from prison, it is intuitive that BP occurs before TSS(2021) and finally in The Snyder Cut they mention when Barry went back in time but I go back to the same thing, there is a HUGE plot error with SS(2016) explained in Point 2, so I don't know whether to decanonize Barry's dialogue and Bruce in The Flash and let JL (2017) be CANONIC or that the Snyder Cut is canon BUT with that error, which by the way is the Snyder Cut canon because Darkseid has not ATTACKED the earth because at least 6 years would have already passed since then and I highly doubt it will take that long. The DCEU really is a mess in terms of chronology, I hope James Gunn fixes EVERYTHING

Wow....great feedback on the vid. Thanks so much for sharing all of that! I'll try to address all your comments. 1. I agree with all your placements, other than the ones I mention below. 2. BvS must be at least two years after MoS, as Bruce says "That SOB brought the war to us two years ago." So while we get an 18 month jump and then another 3 month jump, there must be a few more months jump in there somewhere. That allows MoS to be Sep-Oct, 2013 and BvS to be Nov, 2015. 3. Regarding the Snyder Cut of Justice League, I have to wonder if Lois has her child with Clark after he's revived, even though that doesn't match the hints we see in the movie. I say that because we clearly did a July, 2017 date shown in the Snyder cut and then we later get an Aug, 2017 date at the end of the Snyder cut. Additionally, there's the issue you mention with it being placed in 2016 as that messes with Suicide Squad continuity. So I don't have a good answer, other than those scenes of hinting at Lois being pregnant were shown in the wrong order in the film, and that she becomes pregnant after Clark is revived. 4. I like the idea of Black Adam taking place at the end of 2021 rather than when I have it earlier in the 2021, but I was curious if there was anything in the movie that led you to placing it there. 5. For Shazam! 2: Fury of the Gods, I used to think it takes place in May 2021, but I then realized that the Dr. Sirviana "2 years" quote wasn't meaning 2 years from the last movie, but rather 2 years from when he was put in jail after his trial. If you instead look at Billy's birthday and age in both movies, Shazam 2 then fits perfectly in May, 2022. 6. For the Flash, it places it's self very firmly in Sep, 2022 as it is 18 years after his mom's death in 2004 and the babies cribs show they were born in September. 7. Aquaman 2 is 4 years and 5 months after the first movie (which is mentioned in the movie), placing it in Nov, 2022. 8. Blue Beetle is after Jaime graduates from college, so June, 2023.

You give some great feedback why Snyder cut isn't cannon. But to give a counter argument to one of your points Darkside lost Earth for thousands of years the only planet he ever lost , the only planet that manage to kick his ass , he lefy the mother boxer there , he left the anti life formula ,imagine that Thanos in his first appearance get his ass kicked drop the full infinity gauntlet and forget where this happened. Darkside get lost on his way to the planet and will need few more centuries to find his way back 😊

I just ignore the pregnancy part of the Snyder cut, and kinda create my own version of the two movies that works perfectly! Again, it's so weird that Snyder includes the pregnancy storyline, but also gives us dates in July and August of 2017 in the movie. So clearly, he wasn't thinking about continuity very well. Sigh.

I probably shouldn't watch this since I haven't seen Aquaman 2 but at this point it'll be ages before I see it so. Didn't even know there was a one shot, huh. Hmm, yeah The Flash sort of canonizes that September date for sure. And I don't even like messing with that CW/DCEU crossover ... it's messy. You can at least know it takes place after Justice League because Barry mentions Victor. The final post credit scene sounds ... not great. I was actually gonna mention Blue Beetle before you brought it up ... still it's not like we can't have these characters/actors come back into the DCU because well ... multiverse. Either way huge props as always.

Yeah, the movies are rocky at times, but there are some really good moments as well, in case you decide to watch them. And I agree…I’m very excited for the new DCU!

Great video, I know there’s a lot going on and with the holidays I totally understand but I do think it’s a bit of a bummer that you don’t bring up any of the tie in materials like comics or I believe there’s novelizations that provide more details. That’s definitely more obscure though. As for blue beetle dude I don’t know, if Gunn really continues his story and references the first movie at all, then this retroactively has to be the first movie in the dcu even if Gunn doesn’t think so. But as of now that hasn’t happened and it’s been said to not be in the dcu so yea it’s gotta be dceu by default. And this brings me to my biggest problem with this whole transition. Everyone’s reminiscing over the dceu being over, but I gotta say I don’t know that it is. Gunns clearly bringing back waller, peacemaker and blue beetle. And if he doesn’t reference previous events that’s totally fine and cool it’s completely separate. But honestly I kinda doubt that’ll happen, and it’ll be weird for peacemaker seasons to be in different universes. I think he is gonna refer back to those things and it’s gonna make the dcu a mess. It’ll be a soft reboot of sorts but I don’t know how we sort out what parts of the dceu are canon to the dcu if that happens. For example with peacemaker if season 1 is canon, then the justice league is canon and that means basically the entire dceu is canon. Honestly i just gotta wait and see. I really wish it was a clear line in the sand nope this is new we’re starting over but it seems like Gunn is kinda muddying the waters to please everyone. And I don’t know that’s gonna play out. Still looking forward to it but I’m cautious as a continuity freak as to how it’s gonna work

Excellent feedback! I considered including the comics and other tie-ins, but as you mention, those things are abit obscure. So I decided to leave them off. But there are some cool tie-ins. As for things like Blue Beetle and Peacemaker, I agree, I’m confused as to what Gunn has in mind. Will be interesting to see whether they reference any events from the DCEU. If so, it will be very confusing for sure.

I remember when man of steel first released over a decade ago, it’s wild to see time pass so fast, so much so that I can remember each film coming out, this is the first time I’ve seen a cinematic universe end, and abruptly so, but I hope James Gunn can do some magnificent things!

The DCEU was definitely not perfect but it had good moments. I hope someday we will see the Ayer cut of SS but Margot Robbie was the shining star of that movie. And I don’t understand the hate for birds of prey because I thought it was a well grounded story that had perfect moments of storytelling. I mean the audience was literally told that Harley Quinn was narrating the story. Of course it’s going to be all over the place and not everything will be consistent and that’s the point! The suicide squad was pretty awesome! if DC decides to do things differently with James Gunn then I will watch

@@AbitofEverything4U Well, I know with the dates, it makes sense for it to be after Flash but it’s extremely weird that that movie resets the entire universe and it’s treated like this big thing but then the next movie in the timeline is a direct sequel to a movie that was in a different universe? I really think it’s just a case of bad management on Warners part, because I seriously doubt anyone in charge over there has thought of this more than the fans.

Yeah, I was really bummed that the movie didn't try to tie in with the Aquaman appearance in The Flash. I was also surprised the movie didn't end with some type of thank you to the fans. Kinda a bummer to see the DCEU go out like that. But still a decent movie, all of that aside.

I personally put birds of prey to be taking place like a few weeks after 2016 suicidsquad and before snyder's justice league. Why I put it there on the timeline, its because batman is nowhere to be found in birds of prey and we know that batman was out of Gotham looking for the jl members.

What i am really interested in knowing is how James will integrate Peacemaker S2 into the DCU, cause we know S2 will be part of the DCU, yet S1 featured Flash and Aquaman as played by Ezra and Jason, Plus it connecting to The Suicide Squad which features characters from the first film which in turn had Ben's Batman and so on. Not to forget the Waller series which also ties to what happened in Peacemaker S1.

Exactly! That's most definitely the question of the hour. In theory The Flash was supposed to reset things to the new DCU, but that didn't end up happening. So I can't wait to see what Gunn decides to do to tie it all together.

@@AbitofEverything4U Yeah if it werent for Ezra and Jason, i would've said, okay say that The Suicide Squad has nothing to do with Suicide Squad 2016, it just happens to feature the same actors as new iterations of the characters (ala JK Simmons as JJJ), thus making The Suidice Squad the first unofficial entry of the DCU.

A lot of people say Aquaman 2 chronologically comes after The Flash but I strongly disagree since Flash is the starting point for the reboot so technically Aquaman 2 takes place before The Flash. As for Blue Beetle, it's not easy to place it because James Gunn’s comments make the film’s placement in the universe aggressively confusing so I think it's best to sit Blue Beetle to the side until the DCU finally happens starting with Superman Legacy. Also in the Flash post-credit, Barry actually tells drunk Aquaman that every Bruce Wayne he saw was a totally different person sort of implying that after meeting George Clooney, he went back in time again a few more times, and Bruce Wayne was a whole new person again and again so that would mean the new Batman for the DCU is the result of Barry’s meddling with the timeline.

Great feedback. So, James Gunn is always very careful with his words. His exact words in that promo video for the DCU were that The Flash "resets the entire DC universe." But he didn't say it resets it into his new DCU, per se. So Gunn was technically correct...the DC Universe was reset after The Flash. But we know Ezra Miller isn't playing the Flash anymore, nor is Jason Mamoa playing Aquaman and I doubt we'll see Clooney back as Batman. So the "reset" seems to have just affected the timeline for the DCEU, but it didn't create the start of Gunn's new universe. At least, that's my take on it, fwiw. As for Blue Beetle, since Gunn has said that Superman Legacy is the first movie of the DCU, that means Blue Beetle is still part of the DCEU. He said the movie isn't canon to the DCU but the character will appear in the DCU. I'm sure we'll learn more as Gunn kicks things off with Superman Legacy.

I dont know how to reconcile the shazam age thing. If his b-day is in Oct or Nov, then I'm not sure he'd say he's "basically 15" while he's (apparently, if true) just had his 14th b-day a month ago, unless he's the type of kid to overestimate his age due to being "just" one year away. It just seems like things got messy. Now if his b-day were in June or July, that I'd be slightly more accepting of Billy overestimating his closeness. He'd at least be near half way through the wait.

Yeah, the age thing is a mess. I wonder if he was indeed over-estimating his age to sound cool in front of Dr. Sivana. A November birthday makes everything fit very well. So, if something has to give to make it all work, I'd say Billy lying about his age is the easiest thing to forgive. But just my take on it.

Now that What If has wrapped up on its second season and its third season likely won't arrive until 2025, how soon can we expect to see a video on that?

The flash placement is confusing cause iris says a few years ago even though it's been 5 years and with the snydercut being the canon version that messes with the aquaman films with mera's parents and her accent and is the aquaman in the post-credit scene the same one or is it a seperate one?

That would be not placing Aquaman 2 definitively in November, i personally would say its in 2022 but before the flash so the supposed timeline reset is the last thing we see in the DCEU

Yeah, Blue Beetle is confusing. But Gunn was really clear that BB is the first DCU superhero but Superman Legacy is the first DCU movie. However, with his quote that it's 4 years after the first movie and then the 5 month time jump, it really seems to be after The Flash, as strange as that seems. Considering that The Flash was never meant to be the last movie in the DCEU (they originally had so many cool plans for where to go after that movie), I think that's why the timeline seems so strange now that things are ending abruptly. @@AbitofEverything4U one reason I view blue Beetle as part of the new universe is because of the way the flash handled time travel. It was done in a way that James Gunn can take whatever he wants from the DCEU and change whatever he wants and it will still make sense, therefore I feel its pointless placing movies canonically in the DCEU if they occur after The Flash. I believe that's what he truly meant by saying Blue Beetle is the first DCU character but the first (proper) DCU movie is superman legacy. However, that is just my opinion regarding my viewing order. In terms of aquaman 2, just because he says the events of the first movie were 4 years ago it doesn't mean it was exactly 4 years. You could say January 2022 is 4 years after May 2018. That combined with my opinion on the flash's handling of time travel is why I agree Aquaman 2 is in 2022 but also believe its before The flash

​@@maskerriz2616 I think the real bummer in all of this is Gunn has left alot of cryptic messages that can be perceived in multiple ways and it is therefore making the start of the new DCU very confusing. While I see all of your points and I 100% agree that you could be correct, I also think the timeline in the vid could work, due to Gunn's ambiguity. So I'm anxiously awaiting the DCU entries to arrive so that we can hopefully get firm answers to our questions and thus all come to the same understanding. It would be a shame if Gunn starts the new DCU with things as confusing as they are right now. Here's hoping he clears it all up sooner than later.

If only The Flash didn't have that line about traveling to the past changing both the future and the past then we could just argue that he ran into alternate universes where George Clooney or Michael Keaton were Batman! It would even dovetail nicely with the near-end of the movie where they show us that multiple different universes exist. But yeah, as it stands, I feel like it didn't give us enough to go on to say whether or not Batman & Robin are now canon to the DCEU, especially since in-universe George Clooney Bruce Wayne is technically supposed to be the same guy as Michael Keaton Bruce Wayne. Since The Flash didn't explicitly canonize the theorized retcon that Batman and Batman Returns are part of a different continuity than the two later sequels, it's dangerous to read too much into things, especially when there's no real point with the DCEU ending. Haven't seen Blue Beetle or Aquaman 2 yet, so I can't address your final question, but I thought this video was well done.

Excellent analysis...yeah, it's just such a shame to see the DCEU end in such a confusing fashion. Plus, I'm surprised WB didn't add something to the end of Aquaman to honor the universe...like having the six major stars signing their characters, similar to the end of Endgame which took the idea from Star Trek VI. Bummer.

I was never much a fan of the DCEU, with exception to Batfleck, but the studio meddling and interference ruining this project makes me so sad

Gunn said in September that while Blue Beetle may appear in the DCU, his movie is not canon to that universe. Just looking at the timeline you can see how they were setting things up at different stages that didn't materialise. There's a common criticism of the DCEU that it "had no plan" but that isn't true. They had a plan but different regimes and company heads kept changing course half-way through. Snyder's blueprint (2013-2017, which was setting the groundwork for the next few years but they changed course after Justice League) Hamada Blueprint (2018-2022, which was setting up a lighter tone, a soft reboot, and multiversal shenanigans culminating in Crisis on Infinite Earths) Dwayne Johnson blueprint (October 2022, still similar to the Hamada blueprint, but changing some elements of the plan such as bringing back Superman rather than filling that presence with Supergirl) Gunn and Safran era (November 2022-December 2023, putting a pause on future DCEU plans and cancelling in development projects. Removing scenes offuture teases from The Flash and Aquaman 2 and reshooting them with scenes like George Clooney's) If any of those first 3 plans were stuck to for a long period, the DCEU could have seen unprecedented growth, rather than the last 6 films losing money at the box office

Yeah, I think alot of us (definitely myself included) went to see The Flash expecting it to be a reboot into the new DCU. In hindsight, I see why that wasn't really possible, since it was very unlikely that either Miller or Momoa were going to be part of the new DCU, but I'm still holding out hope that somehow that ending reboot ties into the DCU. But I suspect not. Oh well, the new DCU looks awesome regardless, so we have that to look forward to!

Imo The Flash timeline isn't much different than the way the MCU timeline works. As in I believe we start on the DCEU Sacred Timeline and when Flash goes back in time to 2004 he creates a Branched Timeline and he travels back to the future along that branched timeline before he's knocked out in 2013, a Branched Timeline where his Mom lives and there is no Superman. Then he goes back again and moves the tomato cans and creates yet another Branched Timeline where George Clooney is the Batman and the post credit scene with Aquaman is happening on the Branched Timeline. So Batfleck is still Batman back on the Sacred Timeline (where Barry/The Flash just seems to have disappeared) and Aquaman 2 also takes place on the Sacred Timeline, not in the Branched Timeline that Barry is currently stuck in. As for Blue Beetle...🤷‍♂️Hard to tell if that's on the DCEU Sacred Timeline or the new James Gunn DCU Sacred Timeline... Anyway that's my thoughts on it. I don't believe Barry actually erased Batfleck or changed anything, just changed what timeline he was traveling forward in.

@@AbitofEverything4U Yes! Exactly!! The Flash post credit scene appeared to be a drunk, washed up Aquaman, not the family man, King of Atlantis we saw in Aquaman 2. That tells me Aquaman 2 is concurrent to the original Timeline where Ben Affleck is Batman and the two Timelines the Flash spend his time in are not rewritten Timelines but branched timelines! It's of course just the way I see it in my head canon. I don't remember how Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne explained it in the film though (his spaghetti analysis which could totally debunk my theory, but they showed us plenty of other "Universes" out there towards the end with the Christopher Reeves Supermanverse and the Nicholas Cage Supermanverse so I do believe the Michael Keaton Batverse we saw Barry spending time in is another universe aka a branched timeline of Barry's own DCEUniverse!)

Yeah, MoS really did start things off well. I also put the first Wonder Woman and The Suicide Squad up near the top as well. The DCEU had its share of stinkers, but several of the movies were very enjoyable.

@@AbitofEverything4U I also like to mention that Birds of Prey takes place after David Ayer’s Suicide Squad and before ZS Justice League I say David Ayer is because of his cut being canon to the DCEU not WB’s version of the movie

How does JL take place a year after BVS if lois is pregnant? It's not batmans baby. Zacks said that was an idea he initially had but scrapped before actually making it. Its Clark's. But lois isnt showing in JL.

Yeah, it's so weird, because the pregnancy makes the movie much closer in the timeline to Batman v. Superman, yet in the Snyder cut they show us a July, 2017 date at one point (which I include in the vid) and then when Barry is talking to his dad near the end of the movie, they show us an Aug, 2017 date (I didn't include that screen shot in the vid). So it's very confusing. The movie is giving mixed signals for sure. So I went with July, 2017, but it will always confuse me where Snyder felt the movie should fit in the timeline.

@@AbitofEverything4U I always just assumed it was like a couple months after BVS. I've seen the film like 4 times but I never noticed the line where they said the mother box actived a year ago. That's gonna mess with my brain now. Maybe kryptonian babies take more than a year to develop in the womb. That's my headcanon

Yeah, it's a very tricky movie to place in the timeline. I do like the idea of long gestating Kryptonian babies...although I suspect Lois wasn't happy to learn that news....lol!

Which will last longer? DCEU or Sony Spider-Man Villain Movie Universe

What a great question…Sony has 6 years under their belt with 2024 making it 7. Next year will determine the fate of the SSU, I suspect, with 3 movies coming out. I kinda suspect the DCEU will win out.

DC continuity has alway been a mess. Ever since they made the switch from earth 2 to earth 1 in the 50s they had this, the events you're familiar with still happened but maybe not the exact way you saw. A lot of the older DC events have a multiple choice canon. So even tough it's pretty annoying all this DCEU/DCU confusion is pretty accurate.

Good points...yeah, DC has always seemed to have some pretty confusing continuity, whether it be in the comics or in the movies. ofc, the X-men Universe timeline is pretty crazy as well. It honestly makes what Feige has done with the MCU all the more impressive.

I would like to think that Blue Beetle takes place in the universe that James Gunn & Peter Safran are cooking up with DC Studios, also Jaime Reyes could have graduated college anytime during the year, so that is why I believe this is the timeline. Yeah, I’d be down for Blue Beetle being part of the new DCU. After making that initial video announcement, however, Gunn then said that Superman Legacy was the first movie in the DCU. So I don’t know what to think anymore. But either way, I loved Blue Beetle. Can’t wait to see the characters return!

@@AbitofEverything4U Blue Beetle takes place from Sunday July 1 to Friday July 6 and the only year that has had that as dates is July 2018 so I would say that you should place Blue Beetle taking place in July 2018 so that means it is after Aquaman which takes place in June 2018 and before Shazam! which takes place in December 2018. My gut tells me though that Blue Beetle is apart of DCU Chapter One Gods and Monsters so here is the timeline so far. July 2018: Blue Beetle June 2023: Creature Commandos Season 1 March 2024: Superman April 2024: Peacemaker Season 2

Oh wow...I didn't realize we got a date that firm. Where was the specific day of the week in July given in the movie? I also like the idea that Blue Beetle is part of the new DCU, but Gunn seemed really clear that the first movie was Superman, which means Blue Beetle isn't part of the DCU. Maybe that changed?

He lies." and then like you said, that Mera tells Arthur Curry, "You defeated Steppenwolf and saved Atlantis", Arthur Curry replies by saying, "That had nothing to do with Atlantis." So because of all this evidence, that means we have to place Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom during November 2021, if we keep what Arthur Curry said, "Four years ago, I was bassicly unemployed, a wanderer with no home."

I admit, I'm still not sure what to do with Blue Beetle. I don't think it's part of the new DCU, so I like having it in the DCEU because otherwise it won't be in either timeline. And that's an interesting thought about the placement for Aquaman. The date that is shown on the screen during the news reports seems to indicate the 2018 timeframe, but admittedly we may never get a firm placement for the first Aquaman.

What is that for?

Good question...yes, it was a fun movie. Nothing spectacular, but a fun ride. I'd place it around the same level of enjoyment I got from Blue Beetle. It seems like the audience score is 77% and I'd say that's about right.

Good question...definitely not alot of videos, but I've been doing it since the middle of the year., starting with a timeline vid prior to The Flash. But only 6 total vids, so not that much for now. It will definitely kick into high gear with Superman Legacy arriving in 2025.

Yay its over in some ways I wish this universe never happened especially after the toxicity of the Snyder Cult no there was definitely some bright spots and The Suicide Squad is what brought James Gunn leading DC though I don't get why some fools try to act like this isn't a good thing when it's a damn good thing

Yeah I still say Whedon Cut is canon though both times I watch The Flash it did not seem like at all Schneider cat with can and other than those couple of Easter eggs

Yeah, DC just never got things going in the right direction. There are some good movies in there, but mostly it was just disappointment regarding what it could have been. Sigh.
