The Insanely Complete DCEU Timeline

Ойын-сауық

After 10 years, the DC Extended Universe has come to a close, and it leaves behind...a super-sized mess of a timeline. So let's see if we can pick up all the pieces: the good, the bad, and The Flash.

Fun fact about the "Ice Age" portion, the Earth is actually currently in a miniature Ice Age, which is what allows our species, and most others to survive. We've sat relatively within the sweet spot to allow us to really function and thrive. Whereas temperatures would have to be abundantly hotter for dinosaurs to reach the sizes that they did, and abundantly colder for there to be an evolutionary need for mammoths to have that much fur. So within the timeline, if it's not 100% clear, the death of Krypton could take place anytime between the "Ice Age" or just anytime within the existence of human civilization, including the current era of recorded human history. lol

Regardless of how you feel about Zack Snyder, or his movies… the existence of those tour guides for Gotham and Metropolis proves that he had really put some thought and heart behind the world. Including a lot of the small details in the costumes, like Green inscriptions on Wonder Woman’s sword and shield, and Kryptonian scripture on Superman’s shield (yes the guides had a writer and the costumes had a costume designer but since Snyder was at the head of these projects, it’s reasonable to assume he would have had at LEAST a hand in planning these things out)

Hey James Strecker, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your life-changing video on the D.C.E.U timeline. I mean, seriously, it's like you single-handedly solved all of my problems. Who knew that a video about superheroes could have such a profound impact on my life? Before I stumbled upon your video, I was a complete mess. Addiction, depression, insomnia, and a non-existent social life had me feeling like I was stuck in the Batcave with no way out. But then, like a superhero swooping in to save the day, your video appeared on my recommended list. Your ability to explain the convoluted mess that is the D.C.E.U timeline was truly awe-inspiring. I mean, who needs therapy when you can have a clear understanding of Shazam’s timeline, right? Your video was like a ray of sunshine breaking through the dark clouds of confusion. Suddenly, everything made sense, and I felt like I had the power to conquer the world. But that's not all! Your video inadvertently turned me into a fitness guru. I don't know how it happened, but after watching your breakdown, I magically developed a six-pack. It's like the D.C.E.U timeline had some secret workout plan hidden within it. Who needs personal trainers when you have superheroes to guide you to fitness glory? And let's not forget about the hot girls in my DMs on Instagram. I mean, who knew that understanding the D.C.E.U timeline could be such a chick magnet? It's like I became irresistible overnight. Thanks to your video, I now have a whole army of hot girls sliding into my DMs, all because I can explain the timeline of Batman's adventures. Move over, Bruce Wayne, there's a new ladies' man in town! In all seriousness, James, I can't thank you enough for the impact your video has had on my life. It's been a wild ride, and I'm forever grateful for the clarity, the six-pack, and the hot girls. Keep doing what you're doing, because you're changing lives, one superhero timeline at a time. Sincerely, Jadon A. Lucas

The amount of production effort that went into this just to have different changes in scenery in relation to each of the films is something to be admired. And James isn't too bad on the euphonium either (that's what that instrument is called, right?). My main hope for the next live-action DC movie universe would be similar to what James mentioned: to see something that embraces the style of the comics more as well as Aquaman and Shazam! did, as opposed to the more gritty, muted style of Zack Snyder that I saw define most of the DCEU films and may not be to every fan's cup of tea. The DCEU never did much to really pull me in to their movies as well as the MCU always did, but based on James Gunn's MCU experience I already have confidence in his ability that he can do the DC universe and its characters... justice.

I think it is kinda a shame, DCs animated movies and series are generally a lot better then Marvel's but most of the live action movies are a bit lack luster. It is pretty hopeful that Gunn's Peace keeper show was in my opinion the best of them all though so I hope the next DCU will be better. I think Snyder is a bit too dark to really work well with the rather colorful DCU, Marvel have always been a bit darker in the comics (with some exceptions of course) while DC have been more colorful and hopeful. The Marvel movies were kinda closer to the DC universe then the often dark DC movies at least in spirit. Yeah, it is fine that Batman is darker and Hellblazer (and anything else under the Vertigo brand) should be dark as well, but maybe with some humor in. The general DC movies should not be though, Superman is the most uplifting of all comic heroes and Snyder was not the director I would have picked for that. A Dc movie should be fun too watch, and they have done a great job with all the animated movies there.

My hope for the DCU is that it prioritizes exploration and steady development of its central characters rather than taking a scatter-brained approach where only four movies focus on the “core characters”. What I hope is maintained from the DCEU is the directors being allowed to express their own artistic vision with their movies rather than the “house-style” approach most MCU movies take. Lastly, thank you, James, for providing an interpretation of The Flash’s post-credits scene that actually gives me closer. Most say Barry’s in the Clooney-Verse, but I like your take that he had to keep fixing the timeline until it was the regular DCEU again.

@@venividi8523 so you’re just already in the camp that believes Batgirl is an unreleasable film? Okay. Killer Moth and Firefly aside, it had great talent behind and in front of the cameras, so we as comic fans should know, if something isn’t always exactly like the comics, it doesn’t mean it’s automatically dismissible. (Most of the DCEU strayed from the source material, but that’s fine. It was good in some cases.) All I’m saying is, don’t be so quick to side with the STUDIO who got a tax break on this when they say they had no choice but to shelve it. That’s not fair.

@@hectorminator I don't think it's unreleasable (though for legal reasons it might be), but I'm personally grateful we didn't get the film because it was part of Hamada's plan to phase out Cavill and Afleck's Superman and Batman and replace them with Keaton's Batman and Calle's Supergirl in the DCEU. That's why (Spoiler) The Flash originally ended with Keaton and Calle being at the courthouse instead of Clooney, and Batgirl was going to be a sequel to that. I much prefer the DCEU be scrapped entirely over furthering the mess that was the DCEU like Batgirl was going to do, only it would've messed it up far worse in my opinion.

I think the second Aquaman movie will be the first under the Elseworlds banner, already making it clear that it's not set in the DCU. As for James Gunn's line about the Blue Beetle, it's about the film taking place in the near future and Superman Legacy being the true beginning of the DCU.
