As far as the Billy's age thing, the only way I can see it working, and it's still not exactly perfect, but the only way I can see it working with the timeline you've put together is if Billy's birthday is late December, perhaps even like New Year's Eve. He was 14 in that scene you referenced which IIRC takes place early in the movie (it's been a bit since I've seen it), but then by the end of December 2018 he turns 15, then December 2019 he's 16, December 2020 he's 17, and December 2021 he's 18. Like I said it's not perfect but it's the only way I can find to make it work. I forget exactly what all you had for the Cassie's age thing in the MCU timeline, but maybe something like that could work for her too. I wish you luck with trying to figure out the Arrowverse/CWverse timeline, I've seen every episode of the mainline shows and all I can say is you've got a lot of work ahead of you to try and even attempt to figure it all out, especially when it comes to the 2 time travel shows Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Now is the optimal time to do it though, cause with the Flash Season 9 ending in just a few weeks it marks the end of the mainline Arrowverse, and for the most part the end of most everything in it's Multiverse as well. I'm almost curious if they'll somehow tie in the Flash movie's Flashpoint storyline with the Arrowverse's Crisis event, like maybe for the Arrowverse it's January 2020 but from the Flash movie side of things it's like June 2023 (let's just go with it's release date right now), similar to how on the MCU side of things for No Way Home it was 2024 for Tom's Peter, but for Green Goblin it was only like 2002 or whatever.

Fantastic commentary! I love the idea of the Flashpoint story tying into the Crisis on Infinite Earths and I agree that it could be different points in each timeline similar to No Way Home. I also agree on the CW timeline being a bear. It scares me to even think about it. As for Billy's age, here is where I think it becomes a problem. I think the hang-up is that he is already 14 in Shazam 1, which is in December. So that means his birthday is prior to December. That's consistent with Shazam 2, as it happens in May and his birthday is in 5 months. So his birthday seems to be Oct or Nov. So if he is 14 in Dec, 2018, he would be turning 18 in Oct/Nov of 2022, it seems. Hope I'm saying all that correctly. Anyway, thanks for all the great feedback. Really appreciate it!

@@AbitofEverything4U I get what you're saying about Billy's age. Yes, he is already 14 in Shazam 1 and you have it taking place in December, what I'm getting at is we aren't sure if he turned 14 in before that point or if he has his 15th birthday later in December after the events of the movie. Yes they do say 5 months, but as you mentioned earlier in the video dates aren't always exact, like someone could say 1 year and it only be about 8 or 9 months or they could say 1 year and it be a year and some change or whatever, so the 5 months thing could be something like that where it's like May 17 or whatever and it hasn't quite reached the 6 month mark because it wouldn't be December 17, or it could be 5 is a number that sounds nice but that it's closer to 6 months or so. Basically, the Shazam movie takes place in 2018, but we don't know if Billy was born in 2004, which would mean that 2018 is the year he turns 14 or if he was born in 2003 and 2018 is the year he turns 15. Looking it up the actor who plays Billy was born in September 2002, so they may have been attempting to make the characters age match the actors age as much as possible.

Good points. Yes, if the "5 months from now" comment in Shazam 2 is an approximation, then that could well solve the issue. I wish they didn't make it this hard on us timeline folks to figure out their intent, but I do like your solution. I think my biggest question is whether Shazam 2 is in 2021 or 2022. I like it better in 2022, tbh, as I like the timeline to keep moving forward. So I hope they give us some indication in The Flash on when it is happening. Anyway, great feedback. Considering that the Shazam family somehow have new suits in Shazam 2, there is a theory that somewhere in between Birds of Prey or The Suicide Squad, The Flash takes place and the flashpoint caused characters like the Shazam family and Superman to get new suits through this time change. We'll see when the Flash comes out

I think David F. Sandberg actually confirmed that's why the suits changed, because it was originally gonna be after the Flash. But when that changed, he said the suits just changed because "they're magic"😂

in terms of the post credit scene of Shazam: Fury Of The Gods, when Sivana says he's been locked up for 2 years, that scene could take place in 2021, while the rest of the movie takes place in 2022, explaining why Billy will almost be 18 during it. I actually think this works, the post credit scene takes place a year before the movie itself.

I think the reason why the later films are harder to pinpoint is because The Flash kept getting delayed from production issues and everything in general got screwed up with the pandemic similar to MCU Phase 4. We know some films like Shazam 2 were supposed to release after The Flash so there's probably things cut or changed at the last minute. Overall it's such a shame that the DCEU turned out as it did, if only Warner Bros had the patience to make a proper plan of events like Marvel Studios did instead of just rushing things & constantly course correcting when ticket sales & reviews were worse than expected. We have a Justice League movie that went through so many production issues that we got a second version 4 years later that almost feels like a different movie. Same base storyline but multiple minor & major changes that would've changed the movies we got like how the Atlanteans talk underwater for example. They don't make fish noises & create air bubbles to speak normally in the Aquaman movie. Then there's all the cancelled projects for one reason or another. Cyborg has only appeared in Justice League with his movie cancelled, The Flash should've been out years ago, Ben Affleck's Batman film got turned into Matt Reeves' film and there's an entire Batgirl film ready for release that got canned which would've had Michael Keaton as Batman before The Flash. It had issues at the start but the DCEU could've become something special if the executives weren't so busy chasing dollar bills....well I guess it is special as a prime example of how NOT to do a Cinematic Universe.

Excellent feedback and commentary. You perfectly nailed all of my issues with the DCEU. I thought about going into my feelings about the DCEU, but decided instead to do a straight-up timeline vid with no commentary. But everything you said is what I would have said. It's all just such a shame. We did get some good movies along the way, so I guess we have that to be thankful for, but it could have been so much more. Here's hoping Gunn is able to turn things around. To the future!

DCEU has some of the smallest and easiest timelines to map out. As for your query, yes, Josstice League is considered canon by WB itself (although I prefer the Snyder Cut). You missed two entries though, a short film called Etta's Mission, and Titans S4 because of Beast Boy travelling the multiverse and meeting Zachary Levi's Shazam. And if you think about it, BoP looks much better between Suicide Squad and Zack Snyder's Justice League. It takes place after SS, and Joker and Harley breakup in the prologue. In the Snyder Cut, Batman recalls that Harley begged him to kill Joker slowly. It doesn't make sense if you place BoP after the Snyder Cut. If you do, you kinda see the breakup coming from a mile away. Anyway here's my chronological timeline: Wonder Woman (2017) Etta's Mission (2017) Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) Batman (1989) Batman Returns (1992) Man of Steel (2013) Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Ultimate Edition (2016) Suicide Squad - Extended Cut (2016) Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn) (2020) Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021) Aquaman (2018) Black Adam (2022) Shazam! (2019) Crisis on Infinite Earths (2019-2020) The Suicide Squad (2021) Peacemaker (2022) Titans S4 (2023) Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023) The reason I've placed Black Adam so early in the timeline is because the entire wizard saga embedded in the film and Shazam is so interlinked that those two films can be interchangeable and work better back to back for the mythos. Plus Harcourt in Black Adam did not indicate a toxic working relationship with Waller as the relationship surely escalates in The Suicide Squad and continues well into Peacemaker. Wow! Great feedback. Yeah, I struggled the most with BoP and Black Adam. The rest all seem to fit in quite nicely. Good point about Etta's mission. I almost included it, but it didn't seem substantial enough to include. But you are right that it should be in there. As for Titans S4, I wasn't aware of that connection, so that's for mentioning that! I'm really curious now to see what they do with The Flash. Perhaps it will answer alot of our timeline questions. I think that they considered Josstice canon because of Mera's accent, her parents dead, and Superman having the blue suit. However I just say watch the Snyder Cut, and just replace the atlantis fight aftermath with The theatrical cut and overlay the epilouge speech and make it seem Clark went back to the blue suit after the Steppenwolf fight. Also it sounds like you're a lot better man👍🏻

Okay somebody else might have brought this up but thought it was worth mentioning. Jim Lee has confirmed that when Ezra meet Grant is the first time DCEU's Barry heard the name The Flash and he adopted it after that. In Shazam we see merchandise with The Flash on it meaning it has to take place after this meeting, placing Crisis sometime between Jul 2017 and Dec 2018 (but probably leaning earlier since it would probably take a bit for the name to catch).

Omg I'm literally rewatching the DCEU right now and making my own timeline in Letterboxd, and this video really helps with everything! In regards to Billy's age, since him turning 18 in Fury of the Gods is a really big plot point and motivator for him throughout the film, I'd say that's what we should go with. Him not being born in November 2004 but November 2003, so it fits. Then, him being said to be 14 in Shazam could be people rounding up his age since it took place in December and he had just turned 15... Also, I'm pretty sure the guard's phone in The Suicide Squad says "Jueves, 13 de agosto de 2020", which would be Thursday, August 13th 2020. But I see how Jueves could be confused with Lunes, it's almost unreadable!

Now I've just read another comment saying that his birthday could actually be later in December, so in Shazam he is still 14 going into 15 in 2018, and in 2021 he'd be 17 going into 18, which works better.than people saying he's 14 when he's still 14. But still, his birth year would have to be moved to 2003. And them in Fury of the Gods saying he'll turn 18 in 5 months could be not adding up the dates completely right, but still near his birthday...

Great commentary on the vid. Yes, I think you may have a good solution for Billy's age. I like the idea of him being born in 2003. But then, I also like the idea of the movie happening in 2022, as I want the timeline to keep moving forward. Hopefully The Flash will give us some clarity on where the timeline is at this point. Wow man, great video. Just one thing though, shouldn’t there be a line from Batman v Superman to the originals Suicide Squad movie as Bruce Wayne appeared in the end credit scene with Amanda Waller. This also means that there should be a line from Suicide Squad to the Justice League. Also, in Titans season 4 episode 9, Zachary Levi’s Shazam makes a cameo from a multiverse scene. It is just archive footage but where should this be watched in the overall timeline. Finally, there is a short called Ettas mission which takes place Wonder Woman. This would be worth putting in the timeline . There is also two black Adam Animated shorts - one set 5000 years ago and one set during Black Adam. With all of my changes, here is my way of watching the DCEU in chronological order: Black Adam Precursor Part 1 Wonder Woman Etta’s Mission Wonder Woman 1984 Man or Steel Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice - Ultimate Edition Suicide Squad - Extended Cut Justice League Snyder Cut Aquaman Shazam! Excellent feedback! A few people mentioned Etta's mission and while it feels more like a deleted scene from Wonder Woman in a way, I do see the value of including it. I updated the google drive timeline with an image, so let me know if that looks good to you. I don't know what to use for it, as I don't know that it has good image to convey what it is, unfortunately. I also love your point about Batman's cameo in Suicide Squad. I can't believe I forgot about that. So I added those connecting lines in the image as well, which reorganized the top portion. As for Titans S4 E9, with it just being archival footage, I'm torn on whether to include it. The Crisis crossover was actually Barry, while the Titans episode wasn't Shazam, per se. I may wait and see how Flash handles the multiverse before I add the Titans episode, but you are right that it's worth watching from a multiverse standpoint. Yeah, that one is the hardest to place with in-universe clues. There is almost nothing in the movie to indicate when it happens. So your theory could work, since really any placement after SS and before TSS would be fine. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

This was a really entertaining watch! Not sure that I’m gonna bother with Flash but I’m definitely interested in Blue Beetle and Gunn’s DCU. Hearing you say DCU instead of MCU at the end was so weird, feels like I’m in an alternate universe, I don’t recall seeing any DC vids from you before. Either way I’m definitely feeling DC more than Marvel these days, I’ve been watching through the DCAU (way better than the DCEU haha) and it’s just got me so hype for what Gunn’s got in store. I know that not liking the original Superman movies is a sin, but I’m brave enough to admit that I’ve never cared for them, I can feel in my gut that Gunn is about to give us the first amazing Superman movie, and I can’t wait to see this channel evolve to cover a version of DC that stands on equal footing with the MCU.

Yes, it was very strange saying "hello, DC fans...", but I'm excited for the future with Gunn in control. Similar to you, I'm not that excited about The Flash, although I hope it turns out to be a good movie, but I am very excited about the future for the DCU. @@AbitofEverything4U oh you know what, I think I missed that one since I was already familiar with everything revealed in the slate and just probably mentally tuned out anything along the lines of breaking it down. Excited to see the DCU take shape though, Gunn’s confidence makes me confident too. I know the DC Fanbase debate is intense but honestly I think what Zack Snyder did to DC was the cinematic equivalent of a war crime and I have been so eager to totally cleanse my palette of his touch for years, and finally the opportunity is here. Gunn understands characters and source material on a level that makes characters who general audiences have never heard of before feel like welcomed members of the family, whereas Snyder made some of the most beloved characters in Western Canon completely unrecognizable through his half-baked vision, I will not miss his presence over DC, it’s been tainted so long that I’ve legitimately almost forgotten that I used to be a bigger DC fan than Marvel before all this cinematic universe business.

But in general, I don't like his vision for the DC characters and I think Gunn has a much better perspective on things. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but I think this is a new day for the DCU and I'm excited to see what's in store!

@@AbitofEverything4U The one thing I will always attest to my dying breath is that Superman needs to be super positive to balance out Batman’s super cynicism, any director who doesn’t understand that timeless dynamic has already lost me. Totally agree! I think Gunn gets that and is fixing it with Superman Legacy. Fingers crossed!

I like the inclusion of the crisis. I like to think that the dceu was affected by crisis. This would explain a tonal change as well as having a lot of preexisting characters all of a sudden, like the justice society. This could also explain away two different versions of justice league. This would also explain why the shazam family had a costume change. I know the original reason was because of flashpoint but because it comes before flash this could be a different reason. My time line would be WW BvS SS JL A S -CRISIS- WW84 ZSJL BoP TSS PM BA S2

How interesting! I can see where you're going with that. I do hope The Flash movie references the Crisis scene and gives it some context. Would be cool to see how Crisis affected the DCEU and if any of your theories come true. Great feedback!

A DCAU timeline would be great. Along with CW / Arrowverse, DC Animated Movie Universe and Lego DC Video Games.

I will be adding Aquaman to the timeline to close down the DCEU and will ofc be tracking Gunn's new timeline. As for the DCAU and the Arrowverse, we've been working off and on as a team on the Discord to try to come up with a timeline, but dang, those are even more complex than the X-men timeline! So I'll see if it can be done, but my oh my, it won't be easy!

Wow! This is really impressive. Just like you, I love timelines and laying thing out in order like that. And I'll be honest, I didn't realize there were that many animated movies. I"m blown away by seeing them all organized so well. It's wild that DC was so successful in the animated space, and I would argue also in the CW arrow-verse TV space as well, but struggled so much with the DCEU. I agree, a timeline vid on the animated world would be fascinating. It would take a massive amount of time to put together, I suspect, but I'll keep that idea floating around the back of my head. Truly impressive work. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Shazam 2, for me, is better placed in May 2022 as it would make Billy turning 14 in October 2018 make sense. You can also make the Mr. Mind post-credit scenes make sense by saying Sivana had been imprisoned for roughly a year before meeting Mr. Mind for the first time (meaning they met in late 2019), therefore in the post-credit scene for the second Shazam movie it makes sense for Sivana to reference his first meeting with Mr. Mind as "two years ago"... because it hadn't been three full years just yet

I agree 100%. I've continued to update the DCEU timeline with each new movie release and when Flash hit HBO Max I did my latest update here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fW13t5Swqpy-ftY.html. You'll be happy to see I did indeed move it to May, 2022. You nailed it! I'll do one more update after Aquaman 2 hits theatres. Looks like it could be a good movie. Fingers crossed. @@AbitofEverything4U I'm definitely gonna watch a lot of your content as so far I've only been able to use Geekritique for helpful information when I make my timelines but I disagree with him way too much. I definitely prefer your thought processes on things and the fact you are more open to discussion. I'm not saying you would fully agree with my Marvel or DC multiverse timelines but I think you would appreciate some of the placements and reasons for it.

Agreed...I love the dialogue with fellow fans and in fact, it was someone's excellent comment (very similar to yours) that convinced me to move to 2022 in the first place. I have no issue being wrong on something and I'd much rather fix it if I make a mistake. Truly appreciate the feedback and suggestions for improvement!

2016 Studio squads post credit links it to Justice League. So a line can be drawn from bvs to suicide squad then to ZSJL

For Billy’s age, this is how i understand it. It just depends on the month the films take place in the year, since we’re “one age” til our birthday makes us the “next age”. Sorry if this got explained already or if i’m wrong 😬 2018 - 14->15 2019 - 15 -> 16 2020 - 16 -> 17 2021 - 17 -> 18

That could work. I think the hang-up is that he is already 14 in Shazam 1, which is in December. So that means his birthday is prior to December. That's consistent with Shazam 2, as it happens in May and his birthday is in 5 months. So his birthday seems to be Oct or Nov. So if he is 14 in Dec, 2018, he would be turning 18 in Oct/Nov of 2022, it seems. Hope I'm saying all that correctly.

if Billy is 14 in December 2018 lets say his birthday is in February. So February 2019 he turns 15. February 2020 he turns 16. And February 2021 he turns 17. Now if you place Fury of the Gods in like September 2021 then 5 months after he would turn 18 and it would still be a little over 2 years after the first Shazam

I like your line of reasoning. But I think movies do help us concretely place his birthday. - The first Shazam is in December based upon the youtube video updates and Billy is said to be 14. - In Fury of the Gods, we can place the movie in late May due the May 28 date on the phone - We can then determine Billy's birthday as they say he's turning 18 in 5 months. This places his birthday in late October, early November. - By subtracting 14 from 2018's date from the first Shazam, he was born Oct/Nov, 2004. - So, he would be turning 17 in Oct/Nov, 2021, which doesn't work for Fury of the Gods. I suspect the answer is that when they mentioned 2 years happening between Shazam and Fury of the Gods, they were rounding down and so the movie is really taking place in 2022. If that were so, then Billy would be turning 18 in Oct/Nov, 2022. Let me know what you think. Really appreciate you sharing your theories!

The Flash confirms that the Snyder cut is in fact canon

Yeah, it did seem that The Flash had some intentional references...I noticed Iris West in particular as referring to the Snyder cut. What other references did you notice?

The Flash will happen during 2013 all the other movies like Blue Beetle & Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom happen in 2023.

Yes, I definitely agree that it seems at least some of The Flash will be in 2013 in the alternate timeline. I suspect, though, that it will start in present day of the main DCEU timeline and that it will end in present day of the newly revamped DCU timeline after all the time travel hyjinx. At least I hope so. That would be the perfect way to show us how it all ties together. Very excited for the movie to arrive!

Billy’s Age Solved: Dec, 2018 (just after Shazam): Billy turns 15. Dec, 2021 (not much more than 5 months after Shazam 2): Billy turns 18.

Maybe it’s possible that the characters in the film got the exact number of months wrong. I’ve seen plenty of teenagers forget how many months are between May and December (my proposed birth month) when speaking off-hand. The 2-year thing seems more important.

Zack Snyder's Justice League is the main Cannon timeline, because Kiersey Clemons is showing up as Iris West in The Flash, and she will remember what happened during the car crash where Barry Allen saved her. That is why you should update the timeline and add Zack Snyder's Justice League instead!

Interesting! Every other person to answer that question said the Josstice League was canon. I'll have to do some more research on this. I assumed the Josstice League was canon, but wasn't sure. But you present some compelling evidence!

I think the biggest thing was it seems that Peacemaker and Black Adam were happening around the same time due to the newspaper easter egg in Peacemaker...Plus, I assume Harcourt appeared in Black Adam before appearing in Shazam 2. But I agree, Black Adam doesn't give much of a firm answer on its placement.

Damn, this video really shows how much of a mess the DCEU is 😅 Great watch though!

Yeah, things started out really well for the DCEU timeline up to, and including JLA and Aquaman. But after that point, things went off the rails abit and it gets pretty messy. Hopefully The Flash will be a nice reset point and things will be more straightforward from there. Anyway, thanks for sharing your feedback on the vid. Really appreciate it!

@@JoaoPedro-pi1ef Thanks! Okay, for Batman v. Superman, the movie start a year and a half after man of steel, but then jumps to november, which is seen in the invite ot Lex Lutor's party. So I think it is basically June - November. On Black Adam, I had a real hard time placing that one. It is definitely months after Peacemaker ends, so that Harcourt's injuries can heal, but it's hard to tell how many months. And I think Shazam is May because they say Billy is turning 18 in 5 months and his birthday is December. As for 2021 vs. 2022, 2022 works better with his age but 2021 works better with it only being 2 years after the first Shazam. The DCEU timeline is pretty funky indeed!

@@AbitofEverything4U That is true, however tho I'm happy about that, it also creates its own problems, most notably the inconsistencies between ZSJL and some of the other movies previously adjusted to Whedon's cut, like Aquaman. And of course Supes not wearing the black suit any more after Justice League.

Imma be honest The Flash doesn’t look that good (IN MY OPINION). It might be good if the plot is good and not overwhelming with cameos but fans will over love the film due to the cameos

Personally I will take the weed and cut of Justice League I feel like it's rimmed out a lot of the fat of the Snyder cut from what I've heard though I cannot watch the Snyder cut and good Consciousness after many not so pleasant encounters with Snyder's cult I could get paid a billion dollars and I still would not watch the Snyder cut and I still refuse to and with the upcoming reboot of the universe it is kind of pointless I got better stuff to do with four hours and quite frankly when Marvel makes a long movie they burned my patience and attention not Snyder nor his take on DC

Yup, I think that makes sense. The Whedon cut was shorter and to the point, for sure. I did like the Snyder cut only because the story was able to go deeper, but Whedon could have done the same, if only they hadn't made him keep it so short...or if they would have allowed him to do a part 1 and part 2. Either way, we're about to enter the new era of the DCU, so you are right, there isn't any reason to watch the Snyder cut at this point. Hoping Gunn delivers...and I'm sure he will!

@A bit of Everything yeah and I just love how gun has been messing with Snyder's cult I'll admit that might be why I'm a little jaded about Snyder DC but yeah let's just say I had some not so pleasant disagreements with them let's just say they thought me criticizing Snyder was a personal attack and called me some really horrible names and said some horrible stuff about me that goes beyond civil debate

Yep...probably best that Gunn is moving on from the past of the DCEU. So many issues have plagued DC, but now Gunn can paint a new future!

The DCEU was the lamest name ever thank god synder and synderverse is gone and DCU is just a straight copycat I mean come on couldn’t Gunn think of something a little bit different and original? DC will never catch up to Marvel 🤣😂

Yeah, I agree, I didn't really like the DCEU acronym. On the other hand, I'm okay with Gunn using the DCU label, but I agree, it's going to be hard to DC to catch up with Marvel. The best thing Gunn can do is take it slow and not rush things. We'll have to see what he decides to do!
