It's shocking that people actually believed ex-strongmen could earn 20 million for a single fight. This kind of money would be on par with top footballers at top clubs.

I’m a huge strongman fan and personally have no interest in watching them fight. Im not sure what the draw is for the general public. There was never any chance that strongmen in MMA was going to be attractive enough to warrant the kind of paydays being spoken about.

16 week from the fight and no money, I would've just stopped training and focus on something more important. Because if they can't pay 1 million in time, how they're gonna pay 15million? But that's just me 🤷🏼‍♂️

Shaw classic should have some matches for the title strongest fighter on earth.

I seems like from the start it was destined to fail.

that old saying if its too good to be true it normally is. personally i thought it was all rubbish from the start why would they even offer 20 or 30 mil to each athlete even pro boxing only a handful are getting that kind of money and that's prime time box office fights.

When a thing seems to be good to be true, well....

Now let this be a lesson to every strongman or strongwoman who gets carried away by the prospect of winning life changing money by training for a few months in any kind of fighting they know nothing about. Stick to your own sport, it’s on an upward trend, do whatever you can to make it grow further, the last thing most of us fans want to see is you throwing awkward punches at each other or getting hurt.

It's not shocking because they were supposed to get their first check 16ish weeks ago.

The entire event was based on the premise of a ridiculously huge payday. Otherwise, you don't really see people discussing finances (except for perhaps prize money of comps).

It was interesting being part of the event. It was nice to imagine to could make a million dollars 16 weeks before the fight. But the date I was suppose to get the deposit came and went and no money went in. 4 weeks out and not a single fight poster was out. Which is a big deal when you are trying to sell a 45,000 seat venue.

A lesson on humility to those involved.

Just goes to show, if it's too good to be true, it usually is. Fighters should have gotten some money upfront.

It seems kinda unlikely it was just this one guy scamming. If the other people believed *any* of the numbers they were throwing out, they are equally responsible for the scam IMO, no one is that stupid.

Surely though if they had a contract and it was signed...they are obligated to pay?

From day one anyone with an ounce of common sense knew this was a joke. Now they are all butt hurt, 'shocked' and 'horrified' that's it's not going ahead. It says a lot about them their intelligence, common sense and due diligence TBH. We had a contract - LMAO! Eddie is a shit boxer who was beaten by a less shit boxer and someone was going to pay him $20M to slip n slide with Brian Shaw for a few minutes? Do me a favor! Bottom line all these lads need content for their YT and will do anything to get it. I'll end simply by saying do we think Big Z would fall for this?

I mean.. It's kinda hilarious how Eddie and Brian fell for this and used 6 months to prepare for this 😂 Hooper (and Loz) was smart enough to not spend any great amount of time on this because he sensed it could be a scam

I don't want to see active strongmen fight. Retired strongmen.......have at it. I am still of the unfound conspiratorial opinion that the Eddie/Hafthor fight was an attempt to get Shaw a fifth WSM title. (I would never imagine Brian having any knowledge of this plan btw.......though I don't discount it either) Also I don't believe even my own conspiracy theories.....they aren't even theory, mere conjecture.

OK I know they were promised for a lot of money. But did Bryan Shaw, Eddie hall and the other 2? Did they lose any money at all? And and anybody can tell me how much they lost.

They just lost time and money that they spent on getting ready for the fight. That's about it.

Eddie and Brian could get something together , but not for the silly £ s. Eddie & Hafthor never got the big pay day for their fight. I think it is much better for Strongman to stay focused on their sport. Of course £ talks and as Ed said anyone would like to get a chance to secure the future money wise.

Just a phishing scam of sorts……only on a larger more elaborate scale, I mean ffs, surprised they never got offered a renewal of their washing machine warranty as part of their contracts

What a clown show. So this gang was supposed to spend their fortune on this event, with no plan to profit on the back end? That's not how business works. You invest in order to profit long term. This would have been charity, if it had been real in the first place. I hope athletes will stick to reputable organizations and people with a good track record going forward. There's a reason why they exist and have an ongoing business.

I’m surprised they took this seriously in the first place none of them are actual mma fighters that would warrant those type of ppv numbers yes they all have a good following for the sports they do but for someone to pay for a ppv to watch 4 guys which let’s face it have less experience than amateur mma fighters hell I don’t even pay to watch Aj or Tyson fury and I have tnt subscription so get all my ufc “free” anyway! For me they came in with massively over exaggerated figures most of them would have probably been happy with a million or two witch would have been a bit more realistic
