I can share some insight on Lucas Hatton as I am his coach. Lucas never received an invite to compete, he was asked to be a reserve 12 days out from worlds. His business is a gym called Dungeon Strength, that gym hosts the biggest Pro/Am show in the US that also happens to be a qualifer now for JF's North America's Strongest man. Lucas would have had to find a replacement to manage and put on this 100+ athlete show in that time frame. That's just not possible. Had world's given him even 3 weeks notice, we would have more than likely done it. At the end of the day the Athletes have to put their bodies and business first. We very much look forward to the Strongest Man On Earth contest.

Don't blame him for not accepting to be honest. It's just shoddy planning on WSM part. I saw Lucas compete at UK arnolds he was awesome and brought so much energy to the show. Wish him the best of luck at SME.

I hate going into the future so much, but unless something goes seriously insanely hugely wrong, Shaw Classic will easily be the best comp of the year once again. True strongman events and the absolute top people competing in a competition without any ridiculous rules and great track record of judging. And that's before even mentioning the amateur comps that will also be happening. Can't wait for it

Lucas didn't turn down WSM to compete at another competition... he's *running* the other competition. He didn't have time to find someone to take his place, so if he went to WSM he'd be screwing over all the athletes who signed up for that event. Very respectable choice imo. If he preforms well at SMOE he'll get plenty of other opportunities

Its his call and already organized an event and got the invite late. Why risk it or do poorly at WSM. WsM dropped the ball on inviting him late Atlethes shouldnt be pressured in going to WSM at short notice. Screw that. They need to work better on invites and organizations...

Rgds Evan I think it's a real shame that he will probably never go down as a great strong man, very good yes, but not great. Because he never wins major comps. The sad thing is I really believe he could have/could do, but as you say its his approach. This bull at a gate failed WWE approach is bad for his body - increases risk of injury, bad for his results - Arnolds perfect example where his approach, not his lack of strength/ability, made him fail at the axle, and the extra toll it takes on his system with mental fatigue leading to lesser physical returns. People have been saying this for years now, his attitude has been that of a child - your all wrong, what do you know, this is my way and my way will win out in the end.. But as you get older, you learn to appreciate more other peoples views, take them onboard and really consider them. Now, a great comparison is Mitch. His approach is brilliant. It is considered, he watches, learns, listens, analyses. Look at his Axle in the Arnolds, it was down to perfection.

The one thing I do not like, and think was wrong from Brian, is this "Strongest Man on Earth". Why the hell did he buy that? The Shaw Classic, his name is bigger than this old title he paid how much for. He does not need it. The general public will not change from viewing the WSM as the WoW factor title, because that title has been ingrained for 40 years now. BUT, the Shaw Classic, thats a major, IMO already the biggest major in strongman, and his name is arguably the biggest name in strongman.

I think it was America's Strongest Man that Lucas Hatton won, not OSG. I'd also like to see Wesley Derwinsky invited. He finished 3rd in the open in '22 and 2nd in the open in '23. Maybe he's not the most qualified guy, but you can't get much closer to earning your spot than having a record like that.

World's Strongest Man is losing it's appeal! Several other comps have already FAR surpassed WSM! In terms of the fan experience, how athletes are treated, and the prize money available, WSM is like the 4th best at this point. ASC, Rogue Invitational, and the Shaw Classic are all better than WSM. As always, I love the videos guys! If it wasn't for you and Loz I wouldn't know what was going on with strongman.

It still gets the most attention, the most coverage and most viewship than all the other major strongman shows combined. Arnolds, Rouges and Shaw are invitationals only, WSM you can get to by placing in other competitions. This is to WSMs advantage. I enjoy watching all the big shows. I don't know why some people want to just decamp into one show and expect all shows to be generic to eachother. Imagine a football team playing 4 shows a year and complaing its not the cup that you want them to play in. There's enough space for all the shows, they just need to plan better dates in the year so strongman can train and recover with patience.

@@RubbishGimpy You lost me with your damn soccer (football) analogy. We don't care for that in America. And WSM gets the most because it's the oldest, so it's just resting on its laurels and reaping the benefits of past efforts. At the rate they're going, the others will continue to climb higher and higher, especially with diehard strongman fans. Without them throwing WSM onto ESPN or whatever other channel months later at 4 a.m. it wouldn't get the eyeballs of people who just happen to watch it and who don't actually care about it. It's another example of a company/brand alienating its true fans who actually spend their money on these shows just so you can widen your audience to people that do not contribute financially at all. To add, ASC and Shaw Classic have both added qualifiers so that new athletes have a chance to prove themselves and compete, so they're not truly invitationals anymore. Mainly? Sure. Entirely? Nope!

@@samalama918 I think people have forgotten what WSM actually is/was, a novelty TV strongman show and thats why it feels outdate and late to the party. It never was a show planned for dedicated career strongmen. The other shows could never of worked back in the day, its only with the advert of the internet does Shaw, Rogues and Arnolds get any real interest and without their streams less people would interested. Arnolds was a little known add on to a bodybuilding show when it started. When did 'modern' strongman take off 2010-2015, strongmen started to actually make a career from it. Whether good or bad WSM brings in new fans. The strongman community is still really small considering. WSM and KZread are what get eyes onto strongman.

Not a game changer lol. HGH and stem cells with test does the heavy lifting. Peptides are better for small injuries
