The Carpenters Sing A Song Reaction
1. I wish they'd pass the melody around to more instruments. I'd like that. It'd be a nice touch to it if there were more instruments which would add more texture type of thing.
2. This gets better the more you listen to it. I listened to the Sesame Street version too and it's just getting better.
3. I would like to hear a demo version of this song. Just basically Karen would be so nice.
Sing a Song
Carpenters
Sing.
Sing a song.
Sing out loud, sing out strong.
Sing of good things, not bad.
Sing of happy, not sad.
Sing.
Sing a song.
Make it simple to last your whole life long.
Don't worry that it's not good enough for anyone else to hear.
Just sing.
Sing a song.
La La La La La La
La La La La La La
La La La La La La
Sing. Sing a song.
Let the world.
Sing out loud.
Sing of love there, could be.
Sing for you and for me.
Sing a song.
Make it simple to last your whole life long.
Don't worry that it's not good enough for anyone else to hear.
Just sing, sing a song.

this was considered a "children song" played on sesame street i believe...surprisingly it became a hit...

Your wish for hearing a version with just Karen’s voice minus the instruments came true. One of the other commenters here gave a link for this song with just Karen’s vocals isolated. Here you go:kzread.info/dash/bejne/l6qclMp_qdOyZ7w.html

Hey Man i am a 63 almost 64 year old man,and i still love this song.
This is such a nice song because it is more upbeat and happy compared to other Carpenters songs. the Children are a nice addition too.

I think Karen does absolutely fantacular for children’s songs.
She was the drummer for this song.....and the song hit #3 on the Billboard Top 100 Singles and sold a million copies thus becoming a gold single...one of ten they had...
THAT´S a CELESTIAL clean voice.
Sir----------The real shame is that none of you get to see Karen & Richard in concert. I saw them 5 times, & wish it had been 50. In person, Karen's voice was even better. she'd cut loose, belt some things out, & other times, just bring you to tears, with that angelic, clean, clear, voice. In person, she had 3-4 backing voices : Rich + 3-4 other guys. ----------Still, it was HER voice that just made ya cry, it was so beautiful. ---------------------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
Totally emotional
I can confirm - I did like it as a kid. I was in the 2nd grade, and the voices of children made it seem like it was for me.

it sounds great for kids. I'd totally have been into this one if I heard it as a kid.
Karen also sang backing vocals with the children's choir.

Absolutely love this song.. I said once before, this is in my favorite top 5 Carpenters songs, but now hearing it again it has jumped up 2 spots to my number 3.. It's such a feel good song... nice reaction.....

I’m gonna react to the demo too. Someone found it for me. I’m lovin this one.
Her voice is so pure . I’m not the biggest fan of this song but that was a really nice arrangement. Richard really Carpenterized it 😉 but when Karen starts singing you can’t help but listen.
Listen to their Ave Maria! It highlights her celestial voice! It's a hard song but she sings exquisitely 😊
Geez, we sang this in our elementary 3rd grade class back in the 70s!!

Too bad you didn't have Karen Carpenter with you. That would have been sick.
I also don't remember this song on Sesame Street when I was a kid. And I don't remember Barbra Streisand singing it, as you mentioned in the other video. I ONLY remember this Carpenters version. I was a kid when this was released, and I was in the kids choir at church and we had to learn this for a church concert.
soothing to ones mind

Yeah I can picture myself doing a lot of things and listening to this song.
This song contrasts Karen's voice off other voices. A number of songs ( Do You Hear What I Hear, Crescent Noon Long Beach Version, It's Christmas Time/ Sleep Well Little Children) also plays Karen's singular vocals off other voices and the contrast is stunning in the clarity and beauty in her effortless expression. You might also enjoy the Carpenters singing with Carol Burnett
Another "kids" song you may like is the studio version of Sammy Davis Jr's "The Candy Man."

Why do you use so many dashes when you write? Can you just write normal, or is that too hard for you?
Great reaction, please please react Carpenters Ave Maria
Check out 2004 VH1 'Sing' Commercial - Carpenters. Hard rock & rappers & others "singing" this song thru the use of computer technology. Just an interesting thing using this song.

I just discovered you and loving your reactions! Check out Whitney Houston's "Star Spangled Banner" at the Superbowl. It'll give you chills. I'm not sure how far down the rabbit hole you'd like to go, but Journey was another awesome 70/80's band. Steve Perry has a beautiful voice! Thanks again, I've subscribed and look forward to more reactions!

No way, I disagree. Her voice was what it was about. You don't want tons of instruments.
this song came out when i was 10 not the coolest song to like at that time.. i liked it as i got older...in japan they brought kids up on the stage to sing

Jaybriel Akoi Omg NO. Don’t do that one! This is way too current, and she’s too old and out of her prime. Do the original recording from her 1971 album Tapestry! I’ll give you the link. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aI53k5l9edaqkbQ.html

Dude! Why do you always want to pick live performances instead of studio recordings? If you must do a live one, at least pick one from the 70s during her prime, not one from the 2000s where she’s old and out of her prime. This one is from 1973 would is a much better choice: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lqCImJiJitzXpag.html But the best one to do is the original recording from Tapestry: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aI53k5l9edaqkbQ.html
