I remember when I first heard this song on the radio. I was headed to my girlfriend's house when the song came on, and soon as I just la, la, la-ling along and singing. I kept on driving, past my girlfriend's house, forgetting where I was going. Yes, it's a happy song, and Karen's voice had me somewhere else. Thanks for posting a teen memory.

oh yeah. i loved music as a kid and The Carpenters music has a special place in my life and youth. As a kid I only had my moms LP's to listen to, but nowadays we can listen to every song they ever released any time we want. It is so cool.

i first heard this on Sesame Street lol. This song was my intro to music that I loved.. that I could sing. I LOVE THE MESSAGE of the song. Because we're not supposed to only sing if we're good at it. We're all supposed to sing, if it makes us feel good. Singing is medicine. Did you know that Karen Carpenter's singing voice can lower high blood pressure? Tesla's assertion or theory that healing can be done through sound and vibration... he was on to something there.. that this world took no note of. If listening to singing can help us.. doing the singing ourselves brings that healing HOME. xo

As of today, October 24, 2023, Richard Carpenter is working on a new studio album. This album will be her first solo recording since 1987's "Time Out of Mind." Carpenter has been working on the album for several years, and has been searching for a vocalist who can fill the void left by her sister Karen, who died in 1983. In an interview with Billboard in 2022, Carpenter said that the album will have a sound similar to that of the Carpenters, but that it will also be an evolution of his sound. "It's still soft rock, but it's a little more modern," Carpenter said. "There's also a bit of experimentation." Carpenter has not yet announced a release date for the album, but has said that he hopes it will be released in 2024. In addition to his work on the new album, Carpenter is also working on a documentary about the life and career of the Carpenters. The documentary, which is being produced by the company "Greenwich Entertainment", will be released in 2024. Carpenter also continues to tour and give concerts. In 2023, he toured the United States with singer-songwriter Michael Feinstein. There is no voice today that compares to Karen Carpenter's. She was a unique musical genius in the world and goes far beyond her time. It without autotune or any other manipulation. Just her voice and her brother Richard's incredible arrangements. No current artist can match this in this era. Karen was also one of the best drummers of her time and she could sing well while she played the drums simultaneously. A true top talent. RIP Karen Carpenter, We will always remember you and love you!!! QEPD Karen Carpenter, ¡¡¡ Siempre te recordaremos y te querremos!!! 💛💛💛 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kzread.info/dash/bejne/lIttutKdfpW2eLw.html

My late mother's favorite Carpenters Song from 1973..she was a first grade teacher and hearing little kids sing thrilled her. Carpenters can sure make you tear up if you lived back when these songs were new, bring back memories of all who are gone but me in my small family.

Thank you for your reaction. Could you react to their song, "Jambalaya" - she could not only sing, but her stage presence was special. She didn't live too long, only 32 years - but the songs by the Carpenters are untimely. She is never outdated. Peace.

Hi Brad, lovely reaction to Sing. For your edification this song was from the children’s educational show Sesame Street. It is a joyous song. Carpenters did something special with this song on tour. They would get a local children’s choir to perform with them on stage. A absolutely glorious version I’d from the Budokan concert, there’s a video, where Karen sings it in Japanese and the kids sing it in English. Please search it out, that whole concert is a joy it’s on KZread. As for a recommendation, I’m going to guess you haven’t done this one as it’s a rare one. It’s a live performance for The Ed Sullivan Show. It’s 1970, Karen is 20, Close To You is the current hit. They did The Bacharach/David Medley from their 3rd album “Carpenters” AKA the tan album. It’s Karen doing what she does so well and the boys trying to keep up, LOL. Enjoy if you haven’t seen it. I forget to check your playlists. kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6an1658dpyspKw.html ETA: I just checked. Impressive list, you have Road Ode, you done did good. You need a playlist. LOL I have to assume the Carpenters mafia has found you with that many songs done. You have a good selection of my eclectic taste. Gogos, Clash, Adam Ant, and so many more, Subscribed, I have a run to do here. How about Harry Chapin;Taxi and Jim Croce; I’ve Got A Name. For good measure.

Thank you for your reaction to this song by the Carpenters. This song was a children's song, but it reached and still reaches the hearts of adults. I hope you would react to "I Won't Last a Day Without You" - the lyrics on that song is amazing - and Karen's voice...AMAZING X 2! Thank you.🙏

Karen's voice resonates from a place of beauty. There's no one else like her. Her brother Richard's arrangements, piano and backing vocals give things just the right touch.

Like so much of today's manufactured music tailored to fit the market instead of being heartfelt and genuine. I am so glad we still have the old school music available to listen to.
