2. Is that a small vibrato that I hear on the shorter notes that I'm hearing. Normally not a vibrato fan but I'm cool with it on shorter notes and not with a huge wave length.

Jaybriel Akoi ok looking forward to it. But it’s not a Carpenters song. It’s her singing a song by the band ‘ABBA’. You may not know who ABBA was, but they were a swedish band that had tons of hits in the 70s

So good. This is what Richard calls a 'work lead.' Karen lays down her vocal track to use for the other musicians to use as a guide. When the overall instrumentation is done, Karen would go back and record the "true vocal" for the final track. But of course this is perfect in so many ways. I read years ago that within the industry, the sound engineers, the guys in the booth, nicknamed her "first-take-Karen."

After Karen's death, several of what were more or less compilation albums came out, using outtakes from earlier sessions and several songs (like "Now") the lead vocals of which were just work leads. Karen had cut a solo album in 1979 while Richard sought help for his own issues; not released at the time, it did appear in the 90s. In 1987 Richard cut a solo CD called "Time", which features two fine tracks, "Something In Your Eyes" featuring Dusty Springfield on lead vocal and "When Time Was All We Had" which showcases Richard's vocal arranging and overdubbing skills, he turns himself into a Peter Hollens style a cappella choir...

Sir--------------you need some context about what you're actually hearing. --------On 5/2/82, karen & Rich came together ar A & M studio, with this song Richard have found, & they did what's called a " WORK LEAD " ------------meaning it was just Richat the piano, & karen, singing off of the music sheet. THEY often worked this way, so then Richard could do his magic, with arrangement & orchestration. So-----after karen's passing, Rich had several " work leads" , plus a couple unreleased songs, & he RE-DID ALL OF THEM, with orchestra, & in this song, The OK-Chorale, from Cal -State, Long Beach. Apparently Karen had a very quiet voice. Without the mic you could barely hear her they say. A case of where the studio and the mic really made the artist. That's not a meant as a criticism, but just an observation.

She never had the love of her mother sadly . Richard was always the favorite. Her parents were not the type that would hug or kiss or say to her I love you. Just not touchy feely people who showed much emotion, and her mom’s favoring of Richard must have really damaged her. I’m sure they were resentful that Karen ended up as the star with all the attention, not Richard.

My parents are great and all but they’re not the most encouraging. It sucks but looking at a lot of my friends it wasn’t the style last decade. And I know some people want and need that acceptance. It’s unfortunate she never got it, for such a perfect person.

I assume your a realitive, or close family friend. You state this like its an absolute fact. Otherwise, its gossipy hearsay. I never take statements like you just made as fact. I don't know who you are, or how you have such information. I never heard such a thing, and I'm 61. Followed and lived thru their entire career. Of course I've never read gossip magazines like star, or national ENQUIRER, which this sounds like it may have come from.

He looks like a girl! If he applied for a job with my company, he would be informed to cut his hair. That is very unprofessional!
