It’s amazing how Billie Mae Richards could still do her Rudolph voice 21 years after Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer aired on TV. And she was 43 when she voiced Rudolph and 63 or 64 when she voiced Tenderheart. Considering how her voice still sounded the same during the 80s, she could have easily voiced Rudolph again in another special.

You forgot the scene where Nicholas chases the poor orphan kids through the abandoned fun house while he tried to shoot all the Care Bears (My personal favorite scene from when I was a kid)

This bugged me the first time I saw it. The reason that Secret Bear could retrieve the key is because it had been secreted away by the book. Secrets are his schtick. If they LOST the key, then it's not in a secret place, it's lost, and they can't get it back. They didn't lose the key, she teleported it away.

So Kim and Jason just decides to become friends with an evil psycho who (with his evil spell book) tried to kill them several times throughout the whole movie. Wow; they obviously did it out of fear, to make sure Nichols doesn't go insane; turn the world into hell; and kill them again. If I were those kids, I'd wouldn't bother doing that, just kill Nichols and get rid of the spell book. Sure that's dark but it's why parents said to stay away from stranger dangers.

Scary!Nicholas used to scare the shit out of me as did that black cloud of evilness and eyebrows. It was kind of nice having the happy animals sing songs in between. Maybe that's why it was so effective--bit of mood whiplash, find some comfort after exposure to scary shit, maybe... I dunno. I just liked the pretty colors myself and hated that there was only one green bear.

Just imagine a torture service or something: the participants say "I don't care" and they tell the bears that the unlucky person said the phrase. They are SO inhumanly sweet, that the person being tortured begins to have psychological damage. It's just a random thing that I thought.

Why do all the other animals make real animal sounds but the lion's is just the voice actor doing the roar himself? Was an actual lion's roar "too scary" for the kids watching?

So, Kim and Jason are the main kids' names. Those are literally the names of a third of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, including Tommy.

I used to love this movie as a kid. But, yeah, it's pretty... eh. Villain was pretty creepy, though.

There was also a VHS combo of The Christmas movies called 'Rudolph and Friends' (ngl the Christmas Care Bear movie was a bit... plot hole full)

I think that 🐝bee scene are to teach children they are friendly and very important. I can't think of any children cartoon were they either made bees the villian or killed much on screen. It's always gentle.

Looks like Shazam owes you royalties for that Taste the Rainbow line.

If I were walking along and two technicolor, speaking bears fell from the skies, I wouldn't just walk away grouchily.

the care bears deserved the same violent character purge the transformers got in their G1 movie. I'd pay to see that

That's what bothers me about people reacting to talking animals or mystical creatures in children/family movies. I applaud the movies that either show the people reacting like, "HOLY SHIT!!! A talking bear," or, "A talking bear--this can't be real!!"
