6:14 When saying his full name the D is important and always included, but if youre going for a more casual approach, Luffy is his given name and is what most people call him by. Monkey is his family name and D is believed to also be family inherited but so far we still do not know what it means or where it originated from!

"People's dreams...never end!" That line at the end never fails to give me goosebumps. And when you learn the context behind the line, and who is speaking, it really hits hard. One Piece is a marathon, but it's a journey well worth taking. No other story, in any other medium, has elicited as many powerful emotions for me as One Piece has.

You hit the nail on the head with your understanding of the world, atleast as someone who hasn't seen it can. The world is so much bigger than the Strawhats but we get to join their crew, face their struggles, learn and impact WITH them. Glad you reacted to this one man!

Can't wait to see the Stra What pirates in the Two Piece spin off

You shoukd watch the Two Piece intro. It was fan animated about the fake Straw Hats, but Sanji's actual VA sings We Are. Well the lyrics changed to "We were" lol

The mindblowing thing about this video is to think that all the scenaries that appears here, along with the massive story it has behind, were created by a single dude. Probably my favorite thing about One Piece is how alive and massive is this world. Its different from other shows because even tho we follow a group of main guys, the rest of the world its advancing with them, and every time we get new information about this side stories, there are like a ton of crazy new things to talk about it that makes the story even better. I really didnt like to much at the beggining because i was used to shows with a faster pace, but once you start to get what the story is really about, make it to the final becomes into a life goal lmao

That is pretty wild that it al came from the mind of a single person. I don’t mind a slow paced show as long as it has good character development, which I get the sense that One Piece does.

@@BenBenReacts One of Super Eyepatch Wolf's videos that goes into the appeals & why to consume touches on this. Other than the world (which is very dynamic and changes when the leads are not around), the main characters can be considered to be very fleshed out and deep despite staying roughly the same. I forgot the right terminology, but it basically touched on characters having a lot of detail and nuance (favorite foods, hobbies, annoyances, dreams, personal relationships of the good and bad kinds, etc) which makes them stand out as individuals but not a lot of change, which you'd think of as them changing jobs, allegiances, falling in love, getting kids, etc. Away from the lead characters, you'll see and observe far more change, but by large, the biggest changes tend to be those shown in the judicious flashbacks that manage to build out even small side-villains to have a depth and personality that some authors fail to give to their main villains. Or put in a far sillier way: there is a reason so many people in the fandom will be able to name any random character drawn by Oda despite the show having over a thousand named characters. They are almost always memorable and leave impressions that set them apart even if you only see them briefly.

The characters with the initial D in their names are important to the story in some way, when those characters make decisions or do something it causes big changes in the world. Oda's world building is extremely detailed, it can only be compared to somebody like Tolkien (Lord of the Rings).

Regarding your final comments... One Piece is quite unique among (shonen) anime in that, despite having a leading cast that everyone roots for, the characters are not what drive the story. When you look at a show like Naruto, I always get this impression that you are looking at a world with characters that are especially set up to make the main characters develop, but anything that they are not involved in isn't really explored. Why are the countries named after fire and water and whatnot? There is apparently a ruler, but what responsibilities do they have? How do the politics work? Do villages pay taxes? Etc. I never escape the feeling of 'there are countries because we need factions to fight', rather than 'there are countries because people are stronger as a group'. It is basically a worldview where the sun circles the protagonist despite him still being a student for most of the story. Whatever happens is meant to affect him one way or another, or it wouldn't happen. But for One Piece, the world exists even if you'd take the characters out of it. Other pirates are doing their own unspeakable things, building up legends of notoriety that we as readers only know to have names like 'The Rocky Port incident'. Occasionally the story will drop us a bread crumb down the line, detailing that some other characters were involved or what happened there in more detail, and you'll come to realize that even this incident, that seemed like littlet more than a little blurb meant to make a character sound accomplished, is actually far more than what it appears to be. Oda does this all the time: he tells you one story, but all the breadcrumbs of factual nuggets he drops along the way draw out completely different stories that we piece together ourselves to discover (temporary) allegiances between factions and suppositions about the past. Ah yes, the past. That's perhaps the greatest unseen protagonist of the One Piece story. Do you know how the victors are the righteous ones because they are the ones able to write the history books? How the catholic church used its influence to start the book burnings during the renaissance because the free thinkers blaspheming god (=pointing out hypocrisy by spreading knowledge) were such a threat to it? I'll tell you now: historians are among the worst terrorists of the One Piece world in the eyes of those in power. But hey, this is entering deep spoiler territory, so I'm going to shut up. I hope you'll enjoy putting the pieces together and coming up with hypotheses of your own as you consume the series!

Most people actually just call him Luffy.

at this point the one piece manga and anime has been going on for 25+ years, the writer oda who draws the Manga draws everything except background details. NO ONE is allowed to draw the characters except him. every time there is a flash back he doesn't reuse the art he draws it again. he will draw for 16 hours a day, has put himself in the hospital from working on it. rarely takes a couple days a year for vacation. has stated he will DIE for one piece. and after 25+ years even details from the first arc continue to matter. and they actually somehow matter more with every arc there are reveals that retro actively improve and tie everything together even more! One piece is one of the greatest peice's of Fiction ever made IMO. its also sold more all time than every other comic except superman and its closing in fast on it.

That's incredible! I had no idea about the crazy lengths he's gone to in writing the manga.

The empty throne is important within the world of One Piece's World Government. The allied nations each placed a sword around the throne to symbolize how nobody should sit in it so as to not give any one person ultimate power. That's all you need to know to be honest. Anyway, thanks for the reaction. Glad you liked the suggestion. I've probably seen that video 20 or so times by now but it never ceases to give me full body chills 😅

Explaning the world without spoilers: the one throne shouldnt bother you. It is an incredible major spoiler for the story. What you need to know is, is that the one piece isnt simply gold or treasures, but something special we still now couldnt find out what it might be. We only know, when Roger found it, it was so hilarious, that he named the whole island where the one piece is located on "laugh tale". The treasure is said to change the world, but how ? The world has kingdoms and its own nations, but there is also the world goverenment that is the biggest system out there. It has allied nations all over the world which pay in order to be protected from the pirates, since there are also bad pirates. This job is done by the marines, which is seperate organization under the world government. It is the military so to speak. Then, there are the celestial dragons, people, persumably humans who are said to be gods of the world. They are nobles, the nobles of the world. If someone, no matter who it might be harms one of them, the strongest military might, one of the 3 admirals is sent to hunt you down. Celestial dragons can do whatever they want whenever they want. On top, there is the five elders, five VERY old celestial dragons who stand on top of the world government. They rule almost the entire world. They arent good however, they want to hide something that happened 800 years ago. An entire century was ereased from history by them, and we still dont know what happened in that lost century. It is however connected to the D clan (monkey D. Luffy for example). Its said, that the D clan is the natural enemy of the Gods, which means the world government and the nobles, who are reffered to as Gods. Also, yeah there is a throne, however, this throne should only represent the united might of the original 50 kingdoms that helped create the world government 800 years ago or so. But without spoilering something MAAAAAJOR, the throne is something even more complex and more improtant. No One knows an important fact about the throne, except the five elders.

Would love if you watched One Piece final saga unleashed its made by the same KZreadr but once again gives you more to look forward too without giving too much away! which is personally everyone's favorite video

1. His name is Luffy or Monkey D. Luffy. Ooooor the man who will become King of the Pirates. Hehehe 2. Eiichiro Oda is in a class of his own. His world building, character development, layers to his storytelling. It starts off great, then brilliant all in the first few hundred chapters (episodes) then turns epic, then keeps setting the bar higher and higher. There is no storyteller quite like Eiichiro Oda.

@@BenBenReacts The first one has very few small spoilers because it is a small description of the story, the world and things that make one piece awesome (I would say more or less the same spoilers as the openings). The second video has no spoilers (at least none that you would catch and or understand).

Funny that luffy also has nick name Mugiwara Luffy= straw hat luffy! wish name of his Pirate groupe!

his crew and friends and family call him luffy, his enemies and rivals call him Mugiwara or Mugiwara no Luffy. The newspaper call him Monkey D Luffy, himself when proclaims that he will become pirate king said " My name is Monkey D Luffy , i will become Pirate King ", for non formal speak he said "Ore" wich means " me or I "

well you must also take into account that with 1050 episodes you only see scenes like these for a few seconds every other episode,you don't really realize all of this when you watch the show

You see enought, your time is come to start this unbeliavable journey. One of the best, if not the best fiction story ever written, be carefull of spoilers, if u wanna watch show properly, best way to watching it is blind, but you already see openings and stuff like that, so i dont reccomend other things like this in future. Prepare the notebook for unbeliavable amount of using infos from this show, so much characters, plots and stories, you will love it. I hope you would enjoy :)
