@@Kino280I don’t think any content creator would agree with you that twitch has good discoverability, time and time again the advice to grow a twitch channel has always been to get viewers on alternative platforms like KZread or tiktok, then siphon them to twitch

The increase in twitch sub prices was a great reminder to go cancel 90% of my subscriptions

Would appreciate it if he streamed on both twitch and youtube. On youtube I can just tune in to the stream and keep the screen off and not worry about accidentally doin something on it. On twitch, last time I almost somehow tier3 subbed to atrioc. Made me stop tuning in while I was at work cause I can't keep the phone on in my pocket even with the screen locked

KZread Members is a thing now, and a healthy amount of channels I'm subbed to have it. They usually give more of an incentive (e.g. a members-only video), but it's almost never that much more than twitch sub emotes and badges. Even Ludwig punks out on most of his member benefits lmao.

KZread streamers definitely sell memberships. They have way more value then just no adds and special chat perks. You get videos, maybe even exclusive Livestream, and exclusive posts

27 seconds is crazy

I don’t come back to watch twitch over other content because I get ads when I click on a streamer and then often again if I keep watching. I have kids and I cant see $5+ a month per creator I like just for 1-2 live streams I might watch, but if it was $1-2 a month per streamer id probably be subscribed to 10-20 and twitch might be something I watched every couple days. When the big streaming services and even TV networks play ads I don’t miss out on parts of my show, but when streamers play ads I miss key points of whatever content I was attempting to watch. Makes me not attempt to watch different streamers or browse. Makes me just close and not come back. I’ll just get the highlights with youtube premium.

3:37 i never comment on anything, but just wanted to say that this is a pretty weird way to interpret the graph. twitch is definitely reaching beginning of pandemic numbers but saying almost pre-pandemic just isn't true. as soon as the pandemic started, twitch saw a >1k spike in concurrents as the graph says, and its not showing any signs of reaching numbers that low again. as far as dipping to beginning of pandemic numbers, 2022 also ended below where 2020 ended and has still managed to bounce back and maintain decent numbers post pandemic spike. i think its fair to say that twitch did not capitalize on the pandemic growth to its full potential, but to say that there has been years of no growth i think discredits the retention that they've done.

We all know the only reason Twitch is still alive is because of Grizzler himself who is so effortlessly cool, sometimes

What they should have done is made existing subs remain the old cost but if you miss a month it goes up to the new price.

People are definitely subbing on KZread because the streamers I watch who dual stream thank equal amount of subs and gifted subs for both platforms

The only upside of twitch vs every other platform is the chat/culture And that is just, not enough to make me (and probably a ton of other people) leave youtube and browse twitch. I'm far more likely to see a KZread stream than a twitch stream. Not surprised to see the decline.

2:13 has he not been paying attention, like does he think twitch just upped thier ads by like 500% for no reason as yes amazon has basically cut off twitch n has even said get profitable or become a tax break. Amazon bought twitch for thier data mostly for AWS and prime video so they could shut down twitch with very little downside but the ads so far are keeping twitch afloat.

Atrioc himself has talked about twitch being hounded to become more profitable, what I think you're not getting is that even with the increase of ads, it's still a gigantic money sink, and while Amazon can kill twitch, the fact that it's the market leader is the only thing keeping afloat Amazon just likes that it has that dominance in the space

Streamers, even if the money is net, will have less subs, which keeps their sub split lower with the new program. Someone might’ve said it but I’m prefiring this comment

According to usinflationcalculator 5 dollars in 2013 is worth 6.74 today so if anything they are under estimating inflation.

I get why they do it, but I get so annoyed by those super-limited streamer merch drops every time, most people just want a tshirt with a logo, not an overdesigned $80 sweater thats available 3 days out of the year
