    I think the issue that guy at Riot is facing is that people absolutely care about the broadcast being good quality, they'll absolutely roast the shit out of an event for its bad production, but they want all that quality to then be filtered through their favourite personality. It's a real "have my cake and eat it too" situation from the audience.

    I like to watch streamers AFTER the matches. I watch the show and then catch up on the personalities that give me different valuable or entertaining takes. I agree about the take of high production and zero investment. And I know, for a fact, they can easily make it easier to support them by simply adding some dumb merch to the game. Let me buy a stupid icon for 10$ that goes almost purely to the eSports division. Get me a pass with some cool cheap perks on the website that fills up with viewership. Let me support the sport I love to watch. I don't want to buy another fking hoodie for 75$. I'd rather spend 75$ on an animated emote that I'll never use or a stupid title or border or something. Riot makes it so hard to help them monetize eSports. And yes, take a cut off the streamers. Make it small but make it something. It both gives prestige and it helps subsidize production. If I could, I would buy a pass and watch the games live. But I love in a different country so it is impossible. Maybe give places like bars and whatnot free rights to broadcast it and advertise it globally somehow. It's really sad to see such a miniscule effort put into the most primitive forms of support. People pay a streamer because they support the streamer. Make me able to support the sport. Yes, most won't. But most people also don't sub to Caedrel. And then you come up with a 300$ and 500$ skin (which some people bought to support Faker and eSports and not because they sell their account or play Ahri). No 100$ tier. No 75$ tier. I don't get it. Do you want my money or not? It's so frustrating. Sorry for the rant. I love the casters and the broadcast. I also enjoy other personalities outside of it. I can enjoy both. Make it easy for me and for you.

    They really haven't been. I have a lot of nostalgia for TCW, but it's slap full of poor writing, bad decisions, and canon breaking. Bad Batch and etc. have also been of subpar quality, if perhaps a little less shit then all the live action stuff. (Andor and Rogue One are really the only good and passable content put out by Disney). Filoni and Kathleen need to go. Really, Disney in general and their associated and subsidiary studios just need total restructuring to get some actually good writers in.

    the recent BS with the NFL is beyond fucking bullshit, Yeah it was $300 for NFL sunday ticket but I could watch any games any time after they aired and the price for all of that around $17 to $20 a week. Even as a college kid that was a good deal. Now the potential of needing to pay $20 per game as theyre aired and not having the same access and freedom as we did during or after the game aired is fucking insane. People thinking this anti-trust monopoly shit on the NFL was better for us is wild. This isnt gonna lower prices. This is just going to break up the games to different networks at different prices with different features and absolutely destroy the viewers experience while the NFL and now cable companies continue to make hella money off of us.

    I can give some insight as I was a producer over at riot for league. People absolutely do care about the quality of the broadcast for the games but everything outside of the game they couldn’t give two shits about. Giving 3rd parties the ability to really make it their own will be the future, co streaming right now is still very early days and honestly kinda crap till the co-streamers have more control on how they can present. Imagine Tarik being able use in-game spectator and with the “broadcast” being a lower 3rd before so he can highlight a moment or replay something.

    this makes me wonder: valve had basicially the money glitch enabled with their compendium for the international, i think after this battlepasses got introduced in all the other games, they kind of pioneered it out of mobile games into the mainstream (at least in my mind). but last year they gave it up. you have to keep in mind, they had pricepools that got bigger each year, up to 40 million dollars, and of the sales only 25% (!!!!!!!!!) went to the prizepool, so they made 100 million year after year after year for cosmetics on a free to play game, since they shared the wealth with the pros and made sick stuff with the compendiums. but last year they just stopped. any clue why they would? (i personally think the valve philosophy is to have the developers work on stuff they like and the people were burnt out from making only cosmetics all year so they could rake in the money at that one event)

    Fans are never wrong on whether something is “good” or “bad” (since that’s just whether they liked it or not) and it’s stupid to argue “actually it’s good” (that’s arguing that actually they liked it, they’re just in denial). However Fans are always wrong in identifying why it’s bad, and they latch onto something to blame for the poor experience. Anyone who can actually identify precisely what goes wrong in a bad show and how to fix it isn’t on KZread/Twitter complaining, they are out making good shows.

  • @GAHAHAHH

    @GAHAHAHH

    Ай бұрын

    Sonic 2006 is by no means a good game but some people still enjoy it, there is to some extent clear cases of something being "good" or "bad" in an objective sense. Fans may never be wrong about whether or not they enjoy something but they problematically don't use the kind of language appropriate towards communicating that idea to such an extreme degree where they bully others for clearing up misinformation or answering rhetorical questions or trying to explain an aspect of the story they missed because they "like trash". I don't fully disagree with you on the matter of "Fans are always wrong in identifying why it’s bad" but likely in almost every case not only have they failed to express themselves coherently and not only do their "explanations" for why something "went wrong" or "how to fix it" fail but also they fail to even understand what the like or dislike and what has upset them in the first place. I would go as far to say a lot of people are upset about something that isn't even true or didn't even happen or it literally did happen and they are upset by their own failure to see it happen. I see a lot of "this show isn't about anything" it's still about something you have just failed to see it. In many cases people are upset by things far outside of the control of the art, for example maybe they didn't get much sleep or maybe something unrelated already put them in a negative mood. It's likely that not even I am immune to this as I was upset by "Big A" going on some rant about how a thing I haven't seen yet is bad and the last time he enjoyed Star Wars was "Andor" and I was thinking well "The Bad Batch" season 2 and 3 were amazing but maybe he only watches live action stuff but then I though "The Mandalorian" season 3 was fantastic but maybe he meant brand new shows but then "Ahsoka" was brilliant so he either is a fake star wars fan because he hates the franchise more than he likes it or he is a fake fan because he doesn't even watch it any more so that's likely going to effect my opinion of your comment. That said I did reread your comment and tried to address my own biases yet your comment still really rubs me the wrong way in particular "it’s stupid to argue “actually it’s good”" if you had said "it’s stupid to argue “actually it’s bad”" I would have been more forgiving because the end goal of an argument like that is usually just to make everyone unhappy but trying to argue why something is good is a necessary part of basically any community, sure a lot of it is wasted on "preaching to the choir" so to speak and when talking to people you disagree with they are often closed minded beyond reason but sometimes people do just miss something and they have to be informed. Also it's really hard to make something; there are a lot more barriers than just "knowing how to fix a show" ( I personally have hated pretty much every proposed "fix" anyone has come up with for a piece of media but I would never want to discourage people from expressing their ideas. ) such as financial time and networking. Overall I don't like your comment and according to you that means your comment is "bad" and also according to you I am never wrong about this and it would be stupid to try to argue with me so don't bother. If you had phrased things a little differently I might have agreed with you or even liked your comment but I want to judge it for what it is not what I speculate its intentions to be.

Anyone can do this, though some are better at it than others. B. Critique for the purpose of improvement, what specifically to change to make the art better. This category is only really useful from other artists. I wouldn’t ask videogamedunkey how to better optimize my code, I wouldn’t ask a bronze league player how to climb. You ask the people who are good at something (and have proven it) how to do better, not the people who have never done it before. In practice, you can train audience members to give useful data (Orson Scott card talks about this) but imo it’s just teaching them the first steps of being an artist.

    @@mac_antonio Your first few points feel so reductive as to irk me: When two people discuss whether a piece of media is good, outside of an art analysis/critique context, they are highlighting different aspects of it to explain their view on it. People can discuss moments of slow pacing, off sound mixing, pieces of memorable dialog writing, moving scenes of character acting, etc. in a way divorced of their experience of it to show that it has good or bad qualities. Not wiping their prior experience of it but developing an appreciation or a distaste for it. "I didn't like The Shining but I can see why it's a classic." Being able to discern what is good or bad about something is a skill anyone can build up over their years of consuming media. That's what media literacy and art appreciation seek to deliver. Being a creator is not a prerequisite for this. Certainly, having first hand experience can be very informative and greatly validate your points but insightful critique can exist outside of that viewpoint. People can critique books without writing a novel themselves, analyse movies without having directed one, dissect games without publishing one, if they learn the concepts behind it.

    Focus on writing a good story, it's good: Andor Focus on things other than writing (e.g. diversity for its own sake), it's bad: The Acolyte Pretty understandable and something many people have been saying for many years. It's just that others have demonised them for doing so.

    6:00 "I'm not a racist, i have a black friend" ahh defense I knew a guy who would blame undocumented Mexicans for all the problems in America, him not being able to find a job? "Damn immigrant" it definitely had nothing to do with his criminal record, drinking problem and his offensive body odor. News story about a any kind of crime "it was probably a undocumented Mexican", his kid getting in trouble at school "it's the undocumented mexican teachers fault, she is just after his kid". He was more upset that his wife cheated on him with a Mexican, rather then about the infidelity itself. And it was one hell of a plot twist when her found out his wife is Mexican, meaning his pride and joy of a son was half Mexican he almost killed himself with all the alcohol he consumed after finding that out. And he just kept spiraling when she left him for her affair partner, who funny enough made way more then him "even tho he was just a construction worker". Some may feel bad for him having your wife leave you like that, and almost losing all contact with his son for calling him a "dirty *slur for Mexican*" But take it from the guy who knew him personally, he was unbearable to be around in the end. He just fell deeper and deeper into the Fox pipeline, the charming and funny man was there no longer he was nothing but an alcoholic bitter bigot. And im kinda happy my god son isn't so much around his father anymore, he got a good life now his mom is a lovely woman. And his stepdad is a good man and treats my god son as well as his own kids, moral of the story? Idk maybe Atrioc needs to stay away from fox news if he doesn't wanna turn into a alcoholic biggot

    @@hastyscorpion I love to cook, how did you know? I made these amazing pork meatballs (and the pork was Halal how does that even work?) sandwiches today with homemade pickled cucumbers and red cabbage and a really tasty homemade mayo mixed with Sriracha, my wife really liked it but idk if it's her real opinion or just her weird pregnancy cravings. However it wouldn't be the first time my wife loved my meat lmao, I'm looking for exciting recipes to make I've always loved cooking but my creativity has been lacking the last couple of weeks hehe Good day my internet friends
