The BEST Vegan Pan De Muerto

This is the BEST vegan pan de muerto recipe, the only one you'll need! The bread is perfectly soft, airy and just sweet enough. Made with the essential orange flavor of traditional pan de muerto, you're going to love it.
Makes 6 individual pan de muerto rolls.
Ingredients
250 grams All Purpose Flour or 8.80oz or 2 1/4 cups
7 grams Active Dry Yeast or 7/8ths Tablespoon or .30oz
75 grams Cane Sugar or 1/3 cup or 2.65oz
100 ml Lukewarm Soy Milk* or 1/2 cup or 3.60 fluid oz
1 Tablespoon Orange Zest from one medium orange
3 grams salt or 1 teaspoon
45 grams Vegan Butter** or 1.60oz
3 Tablespoon Aquafaba***
1 teaspoon Orange Blossom Water or esencia de azahar
3 Tablespoons Vegan Butter melted
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
1/2 cup Cane Sugar

The flour and milk mixed with the yeast is measured out of the total measurements listed.
*I used Silk brand unsweetened soy milk.
** I’ve only tested the recipe using Miyoko’s European Style Cultured Vegan Butter, salted and made with cashews.
*** Aquafaba is the water or broth that comes in a can of chickpeas. It's used to replace eggs in vegan baked goods.

    How long should I wait for the dough to rise?

    You can read all the details and tips on the blog post. The rising time will depend on the conditions of your kitchen. If it's warm and humid then the dough will rise quicker (30 to 40 minutes) and the second rise should take maybe 20 to 25 minutes. If your kitchen is cold and dry then it can take up to an hour to double in size.
