The Best PAN DE MUERTO Recipe | Super Soft Day of the Dead Sweet Bread

Today I’m going to be sharing with you how to make the best pan de muerto ( day of the dead bread) this is a very traditional sweet bread pan baked in Mexico during the weeks leading up to the Día de Muertos, which is celebrated from November 1st to November 2nd. But this bread is soooo delicious that seriously you can enjoy anytime you want a piece of sweet bread! Here in Arizona I have not found a good spot to find some delicious fluffy and moist pan, so homemade is better this is the way my grandma used to make I only adjusted by using orange extract traditionally she would use agua de azahar (orange blossom water) you can use either one😊 the hardest part about this recipe is the waiting time 😅 other than that this recipe is super easy you can use a stand mixer to help with the kneading process but one thing i learned through the years of baking is that through kneading you get to feel the dough which makes it easy to tell when it’s ready to sit. (Another thing I learned is that kneading by hand the bread comes out even fluffier) Every time I make bread it takes a total of 20 minutes to incorporate all the ingredients together and have the perfect dough! Just make sure you knead really good!!!!

Tip: be ready to wait for at least 4.hours
Baking time is between 15-20 minutes (350F)depending on oven
Make sure you cut 20 small pieces of dough which would be used for the top!

Ingredients:
4 cups flour
1 cup evaporated milk
3/4 cup sugar plus 1 tbsp
1 tbsp active dry yeast
3 eggs 1 yolk at room temperature
3/4 cup salted butter at room temperature 12 tbsp
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp orange zest (zest of 1 orange)
1 tbsp orange extract or orange blossom water
1/4 tsp salt
Topping:
Sugar I like to use sanding sugar
4 tbsp Butter room temp
1 egg- pinch of salt and sugar-1 tbsp water
1 serving of love 💕

I just made the this. It is so delicious. Really great video! I do have a question. The bread came out really dense. Not sure what happened. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this for next time?

On hell yeah, I'm so going to make this. I had my very first pan de muerto today and it's good but not great. I figured there's a better way to make it, especially one that's more dessert like than a bread that's made more for dipping in coffee and this looks like a dessert version that's soft and sweeter.

You will add too much liquid to the dough so I can figure out that it's best to use the zest and the orange extract to avoid getting a over wet mix

I tried making your pan de muerto, but I don't know how you got 16 bones for the four breads, I didn't have enough dough, so I ended up with 12 instead. Also, my bread came out a little underdone, so I've put it in for 25min
