I have a 2017 170i in the same color scheme. I put mine on a rack on the back of my motorhome and use it for local transportation when I make annual trips to the Rockies. It takes paved mountain roads easily and I never have difficulty finding a place to park at a crowded trail head or in town in the evening. It is a great option.

I have your identical twin. Same year, same color. I added the windshield, rear trunk box and front rack along with two fuel bottles strapped to the back end for longer trips. It has just a little over 5,000 on it and I really enjoy it. I have been wanting to take it out to the mountains. I hope to one day do it. Glad to read your post.

A lot of scooters labeled as 200cc (Lance Cali or Havana, Kymco Like) are actually between 160 & 170 cc. Genuine was just more accurate when they named these.. I've had a Buddy 170i Pamplona for about 6 years & it's still my favorite. It's fun, good looking, cheap, easy to keep running, the manuals are available free online in PDF form, & there's lots of cool aftermarket stuff. They've also been selling them in the U.S. for so long that parts & used scooters are becoming cheap & easy to find. I'm thinking about getting an extra one in a different color.

I agree totally, the Buddy 170i is amazing! ! I bought a used 10-yo Buddy 170i. I live at high altitude and there are steep grades on occasion. And plenty of twisties. I had a new 125CC Yamaha Vino scooter, which couldn't get up these roads faster than 15-20 mph. Thought I'd get killed. Too many furious motorists when the speed limit was 45-50. Had to say goodbye to it. My first ride on the Buddy 170i, I feared it'd take my head off! Sheesh, power right off the mark. Not a Vino for sure. Wow, my 170i kicks it up the same grades the Vino slugged on, , so I feel safer being able to flow with what traffic there is -- usually impatient Bubbas in huge trucks. I can stay well ahead of road ragers and then dust them when we get to serious curves. I had an SV 650S before, so I love curves and railing it.. The Buddy 170i is great on twisty, upcountry roads; .It's such a blast. .Buddy may not be a track bike like my Suzuki SV., but he wants to rail just the same. I call him my Baby Busa. Plus, unlike the SV 650S, should I beef it, I can pick the Buddy up myself. Oh, and I only go to gas stations that pump 91 octane without ethanol. I can't chance sub-grade fuel up here. And I carry a portable gas canister., I mean the mileage is amazing, but up here in the Sierras you never know where gas is. And with the Buddy's 1.9L tank... I take precautions up in these mountains.

I put a scooterworks.. non-catalytic exhaust on my buddy 50 (I did not rejet) I do an honest 40 mph on level ground via GPS (45 on speedo ) .. I ride my buddy 50 like a sport bike.. lean it way over in the turns! I even occasionally scraped my exhaust on the right side when I leaned way over in the contour of the road was ascending.... I clamped a metal shield on the exhaust right where it hits with worm drive clamp... So now it will not scrape the pipe itself! I have tons of fun on this buddy 50 .. I ride it only for fun.. it is coming up on one year and I have 6,000 miles on it already.. did all the maintenance myself and drive belt front brakes and the latest I change the rear tire

I have this scooter, same year, same color. Goes 65 indicated. Probably the most nimble scooter in its class. Short wheelbase & 10" wheels. This is a blast on twisty roads. I have a Honda Metropolitan & it's light & tiny but too slow to get out of my neighborhood so I looked for something light & small that would do at least 60 & discovered the Buddy 170i. It's a nice break from fighting my 492 pound Suzuki Vstrom in & out of the garage & between the cars. FWIW I would never put that basket on it. If I had to haul stuff I'd get a trunk or backpack but that's just me.

Bought a new matte black one 3 months ago and I keep forgetting I have a car, it's an excellent ride and one of the few things that I've bought that have exceeded any expectations. If you have or will get the required license for it, it's well worth the extra 1k or so for the 50cc boost

If you get a scooter definitely get a windshield... I purchased the primo windshield for my buddy 50.. keeps you warmer in the wind off of you.. reduces you from getting hit with bugs.. . If you're caught in the rain you could duck behind the windshield... Also gives you approximately 2 mph+ faster top end as there's less wind resistance! .

If you had a choice between the Buddy 170i and Honda ADV 150, which would you get and why? I'm in the market for scooters in the 150-170cc class and have narrowed down my choices to those due to my location where there are Honda and Genuine scooter dealers nearby. I would use it mainly for city riding with very short highway rides where the limit is 65mph. Any input from those who have ridden either would be greatly appreciated.

When I ride on the weekends or for any kind of pleasure I wear the following -full face helmet (100% of the time) -jeans (on a motorcycle always on a scooter depending on the weather) -hightop shoes (100% of the time, just never like wearing boots) -gloves (100% of the time) -jacket (50% of the time, the type of ride/who I’m riding with/where we are going/weather all play a role in if I wear a jacket or not With rare exception most of the videos on this channel are filmed in the middle of the work day at my shop. We aren’t a mega dealership so all of us do everything. When I’m not in the middle of a sale I’m Working in our service department. I should take the time to change for the ride videos but here lately it’s been to hot and we are way to slammed and it adds a decent amount of extra time into the filming of the video, we just want to put out good informative content for riders!
