a few points: The scooter has a lot more zip with lighter roller weights. The stock ones are just too heavy. You will lose a little top end with lighter weights. Even with the heavier stock weights, top speed will be about 55mph, maybe a little higher with a windshield. Reported higher speeds are just speedo error. There are still blinker/tail light kits available and they significantly improve the appearance. Those stock blinkers and tail light are ugly. I live out in the country (no stop and go traffic) and never get below 90 mpg. This thing is a great hauler with the flat floor and an added topcase. I've got almost 20,000 miles on my '06 with no mechanical failures save the exhaust bolt. Braking is good with a disc up front. With the 10' wheels, expect only about 5,000 miles out of a rear tire and double that or more for the front.

I used a 2006 on a 40 mile daily commute for a year before upgrading to a Burgman. The top muffler bolt is quite long and will snap if it loosens up, so it’s a good idea to check it regularly.

I've owned several Vino 125's. Current one is a metallic black 2008, odometer has just turned 22,000 miles. They are super reliable, I've probably ridden Vino 125's for nearly 40,000 miles with zero breakdowns.. Yes, you have to use your scooter to avoid carb. gum problems. I love the floorboard space to carry things. I have the factory windscreen which is a must. I've getting around 80mpg and check each tank. I use a dry erase marker on the glass of the speedometer to keep up with the mileage at each fill up since there is no trip odometer. I just filled up yesterday and calculated 82mpg. I've gotten in the mid 70's with a worn belt (the worn belt width affects ratios).

Last summer purchased a used Yamaha vino 125 with 4,500 mi for a thousand bucks from my customer of mine great scooter the only thing is they're kind of over engineered everything is complicated on them for instance they have a oil drain plug a separate oil filter and a separate oil strainer.. lot of emissions crap also... I broke my exhaust off so I purchased a non-catalytic replacement which works great everything was running fantastic now my CDI electronic ignition crapped out while I was at a red light luckily AAA was able to flatbed me home I have to order a CDI box and get it running again meanwhile I'm driving my buddy 50 around which actually handles much better I can really Lean like a sport bike with the Buddy 50 very nimble and much less complicated mechanically than the Yamaha vino 125

Informative. Got a '92 Riva 125, 606 original miles, back in Aug 2020. In excellent condition. No rust in the tank. Will go thru the fuel system, replace fuel lines & check filter in petcock. Replaced all air filters(none was there & crumped foam in crankcase air filter locale), changed the oil at 960 miles & decided to swap spark plug. Always favored the older Japanese models: Aero's & Elite's(80,125,150, & 250). Anyway, does the Vino 125 have the same designed electric choke as the Riva 125? Aware they was notorious for a few issues. Have a new one on standby & will ohm out current one & check travel spacing when wax is warmed. Felt the Riva idled a bit high on center stand, turned it down, & been running Tru Fuel. Seems I have low idle issues til about 2 mins for the choke to open in cold starts now. Only adjusted carb idle when up to temp. Will be running rec 90 during seasonal riding & store only w/Tru Fuel(or keep it drained) Tru fuel is 92 oct. See I have cracks in the intake manifold tubing. Already have a new one. When I replace that & running on rec 90, then I'll connect a tachometer to see if I can better dial idle in at 1300-1500 rpm...

@@SiegfriedsMotorwerx , indeed. Believe my cold idle issues was from running that Tru fuel daily. Will use that for storage only. Once I tried 89 octane, back to firing up shortly w/solid idle. Mileage at 2300 now. Noticed throttle cable started sticking, maybe from several rainy rides. Oiled up cable but not fully removed, loosen up accordingly. Shortly as I got a plate & insurance on it, cranks but no fire. Will test cdi, fuel to carb, etc. Compression test was w/in range, spark/plug looked good, swap a new one anyway. It's an excellent scooter in general & suits my needs. Good balance of power & weight. Looking to add the Yamaha Xmax 300 for higher speed roads...

My wife has one she bought new, and stopped riding when pregnant with our daughter, who is now almost 16. So, I was in the garage checking it out, and as it's been inside and only has about 500 miles on it, still looks new. But.... the gas has long turned to crust, and I'm having trouble even getting the gas cap to release. I'd like to get the fuel system cleaned up, change the fluids, new tires, and get it going again. If she wants, I'd then consider some upgrades, but for the moment, she's thinking she'd like to ride with me sometime, and I just bought a new KLR, so she's feeling the urge again.

All I've done is add gas and one oil change. Zero problems whatsoever. Well, I've had to use the Kickstart a few times after leaving it parked for a couple months but it always got it going within a few (max 6-7) tries. I love the thing. 2 жыл бұрын

You do in FL, where I live. It's my understanding that most states require an M1 lic. for any thing over 50cc's. That said, I doubt most people could tell a Vino 125 from a 50cc. I live in a beach town and there are 50cc rentals all around. I can't even tell. They look about the same size. The 50's only go about 35 mph though. So, if someone is riding a Vino 125 at 50 mph, it's obvious it's over 50cc's. It's pretty easy to get a M1 lic. though - especially on a 125cc on the driving portion of the test. Really, I can't see why anyone wouldn't just get the M1 and at least a 125cc scooter. Unless, you will be letting people ride it who don't have M1 licenses. Then, maybe stick to a 50cc.

$400 today for a "non runner" runner. Changed the gas. Needs new l hand brake (it broke). Plastics are great. Battery dead. I'm stoked, awesome project!

Thanks for the nice review! Is this exact model worth $1720 at a non-Yamaha shop in MN with 3,000 original miles a good deal? Had one many years ago in gray this one is your dark metallic blue. Reputable well established dealer Skooterville who bought it from original owner and their mechanics “went through it all”. The competition is for me the much more expensive Honda 125 trail (had a 55 & 90 years ago) and the White Honda PDX- a luxury tour bike not a trail machine. Usual mission is local shopping and exploring vast paved and unpaved farm country during summer. No commuting. I’m 76 and believe in complete safety gear. Long trips are done with a brand new Ford F-150 Lariat twin turbo 3.5 V-6 hybrid over a battery which would buy 40 of these little put-puts! The shop’s Buddies and Kempcos (sic) with electric folding mirrors, fuel injection and other tricks for about twice the price from China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Mexico, India or who knows where are not attractive and freak me out. I never missed ABS before so wouldn’t probably miss it now at 15-45 mph with good Michelin tires if need be. Gary 714-983-1645 (VOIP phone over internet) or right here. THANKS👍🛵🛵

Truly hope you bought it. Very fair price for a fine little ride. I paid $1100 CAD for mine in 2019, (2006, 6000 km) from a guy who doted on it. It now has 11000 km on it, and runs like a Swiss watch. It's lovely!
