    I purchased the primo windshield for my buddy 50.. any scooter I purchase I would definitely get a windshield for it because it blocks the bugs.. blocks the wind and keeps you warmer... And if you accidentally get caught in the rain you can duck behind the windscreen.... Thanks for a thorough and detailed review. I saw there was an earlier comment regarding the narrow leg shield. I had noticed that your lower legs looked exposed during the ride. At cruising speed, does the leg shield provide any deflection or protection for the knees down?

  • @glenmones713

    I have a buddy 50... That does a true 40 mph on level ground.. and 45 to 50 downhill.. the shroud on the front of my buddy does deflect the wind off your legs.. like the hooligan there is a space to put your legs up on the sides of the cowling... Your legs are in the wind but really no big deal.. perhaps if you're riding in 30° weather it would make a difference.. but I've written motorcycles all my life so no big deal... I did however install a prima windshield which deflects the wind/air and I gained some top end speed because it's more aerodynamic.. with a windshield.. keeps the bugs in the acorns from hitting me.. also if I get caught in the rain I can lean down and get behind the windshield so I'm not getting hit in the face with rain

    Thank you for this review. I just happily purchased a white 2021 Hooligan after 20 years with a 1981 Vespa PX125E. It’s perfect for where my life is now. The only thing I loathe is the massive nameplate on both sides. Can it be removed? And how?

  • @SiegfriedsMotorwerx

    @SiegfriedsMotorwerx

    4 жыл бұрын

    First off CONGRATS ON THE NEW SCOOTER! Second the name plates can be removed. You could use fishing like or a small flat head to pry it up. The only tricky thing is that the hooligan has matte paint. Keeping the paint uniform could be tough, that matte paint with the wrong chemical or amount of rubbing will get shiny

    @@SiegfriedsMotorwerx Yes it is fuel injected. The tigra 150 is more high comp piston so needs liquid cooling and puts out around 17hp. The pgo gmax 220 is a fuel injected air cooled low comp engine with 16hp. I'm guessing the hooligan might use this type of engine or maybe even parts from the 180 or 200 gmax engine or maybe genuine has added non-pgo parts to make it 170cc since to date I don't know of any factory oem pgo 170cc model. Can I get it with a big round analog speedo, which is useful, instead of a big round analog tach which is essentially useless on a CVT scooter? Aside from that I like it a lot. I rode a Yamaha SMax, it was nice but just too cramped to ever be comfortable for me because of the stepped seat. Why are most scooters seemingly designed to be ridden by midgets? Even the Kymco 300 is like that. I feel like I'm jammed up against the leg shield with the handlebars in my lap.

    I recently bought the Zuma and love it. It is very fast off the line for a 125cc. I think the Hooligan was designed to copy the Zuma. The Hooligan would be highway legal even though i would never take it there. They are about the same price. It's possible Genuine may negotiate a lower price if they don't sell as well as the Yamaha. I think the Yamaha will hold its value better and they are #1 in reliability. The quality is good on the Genuine scooters but I thought the Yamaha was a little better. The Zuma is a 4 valve engine which I understand helps with performance. It pulls me and my wife around no problem. The Zuma has very large and excellent brakes. I'm not sure about the Hooligan. They are suspiciously vauge about their specs.

    Hooligan has a more comfortable seat and smoother ride. Hooligan has quicker acceleration to 50, maybe even 60mph. Kymco has a slightly higher top speed of maybe 65. Not really sure how useful that advantage is since scooters in this class are more for the city and taking either on the freeway isn't a good idea. However, Kymco has more fanboys and Genuine has more haters (particularly the Hooligan for some reason), so because of that the Super 8 wins. 😂 Relax Kymco fanboys and Hooligan haters, gotta have fun some time 😉
