    Totally agree with you about grips. It's completely up to the individual. I have tried heaps of grips since starting CrossFit. All have their pros and cons, but for me the Alec Smith grips are definitely worth the money as far as I'm concerned. I have been using them for the last few months or so and don't intend on switching up any time soon.

    This came at the right time as a review, as it turns out I needed to use my grips this morning - I have a pair of cheap WOD Nation ones I got off amazon for like 15-20$. They have the dang finger holes and I haven't been using them a ton because that's super uncomfortable. So today I just wrapped 'em over the bar without using the finger holes like you suggested. YES! THAT is what I was expecting out of them! Haha. Moral of the story: get cheapish grips 1-2 sizes up, find someone with an overlock sewing machine, and just trim down the holes with a sturdy stitch line so it doesn't fray. Profit! (And also you don't have the drawbacks of the Alex Smith ones being slippery, although maybe with a bit less wrist support).

    The Victory Grips , Stealth Fingerless and 4 Finger are the grips i love. TeamRichey give them a go, quite a few games athletes were using them at the games for the snatch , bar muscle up workout.

    I've RDX grips which look like Alec Smith grips (maybe a bit bigger) that have an awesome grip on every pull up bar i tried. they cost something like 20 euros on amazon. for my experience it protects my hands very well but as Craig saids for the Alec Smith grips, you really feel like you're holding something in your hand. Personnaly I love that grips and i think they are really not expensive for the quality

    Hi guys love the videos keep up the great work. I'm going to go with the Alex Smiths but I was curious, I'm on the line with size. Looks like I am sitting at 4.25 and it appears that you have a lot of overhand on yours so would you say stick with the Medium which goes to 4.25 or go up because I do have small hands I'm 5'6" 160lbs, not a big dude but do not want a ton of overhang on the leather. Train hard!

    On a similar note, I'd love to see you review the RAWW Barehand gloves. I have yet to see a quality review on KZread. I saw Matt Fraser wearing them on the marathon row at the games and bought myself a pair. I'm not sold on them though and was wondering what other people think of them.

    What knee pads are you using. I saw in one of your vids your knee pads and I need a pair for a shorter guy. The ones I have tried just seem too long on me. I need ones just to support the knee and not go all the way up too high!

    Bear Complex grips are not flimsy by the way for people that may be interested. I would consider the Alec Smith grips flimsy as they just flop over if they're not being held up. Bear complex is thinner and they stay upright a little and don't just flop over but the material is better i think. But its personal preferance.

    What size did you choose for the Alec Smith grips? I bought the Large size and they barely extend past my palm. I don't even have large hands. They're basically worthless the way they are because they don't cover any of my fingers at all so I can't get them to wrap over the bar.

    Would u maybe consider doing an IN DEPTH review of the Nano 8’s? Havnt really seen many of those on KZread. Never owned a Reebok Crossfit shoe; always just stuck to the Metcons, but I’m thinking about purchasing and would love to hear your in depth opinion! Great video BTW.

  • @chrisvanderwielen1530

    @chrisvanderwielen1530

    I switched from the Metcon 2s to the Nano 8 and love them. My ankles are thin, and I had a hard time getting a snug fit in the Metcons, so the back of my foot kept slipping up and down in the shoe. I find the Nano 8s to be WAAY more snug of a fit, and they are very comfortable and light as well. The shell design also makes them cooler than the Metcons were. They aren't the best running shoe, but are miles ahead of the Nano 5s I had when I first started Crossfit, and a little more comfortable on runs > 200m than the Metcons were (anything 200m or less, and the shoes don't matter anyhow :\ ). Overall, most people in my gym prefer the Nano (or Nobull) shoes over the Nikes for WOD shoes, but still gravitate to Nike for lifters.

    Personal experience is that the Nanos (i have had the 4 and 8) have a wider toebox. In my case, the Nike shoes I tried have always been too narrow, so it never even was a contest. (Good luck doing burpees or box jumps with a few sizes up so your toes can fit and not clipping the dang box/ground) If you have wide toes you may feel the same.

    Are the Alec Smith grips available in the UK yet without paying silly money for delivery? I don't mind paying $50 dollars but an extra $50 delivery is a bit nuts. Why don't you become the UK distributer Craig once you've finished faffing around in Australia.

Also try changing up the diameter of the bar or shape for all your exercises like my pull ups, dips, rows, bench, hamstring swings, deadlift etc. Brian Alsruhe gave me this to so don't have to do extra grip training after.
