Victory Grips Review - Best Grips for Murph and Crossfit

Today we are going to be looking at the best CrossFit grips. It’s May and Memorial Day is almost here, so what better workout to test grips on than Murph!
Order your next pair through my link! victorygrips.c...
Thanks for the support!
Murph is a classic workout and probably the most looked forward to workout of the year. It’s special because we do Murph to honor and celebrate the men and women that have given their lives for our freedom. We are going to be looking at the grips that Victory Grips has to offer.
It’s hard to say that one grip is “better” than another.
They are all very purposeful designed for deferent uses and preferences.
What I do know though is all of the Victory Grips are extremely high quality with loads of thought, testing and passion behind their design.
It’s really awesome to see someone dedicating so much time effort and energy pursuing an excellent product for the Crossfit community!

    Can't believe I spent 15min watching a grip review video, but well produced, entertaining, and informative. And your outdoor rig setup is baller.

    Great comparison! In the market for grips to save my hands for high volume pull ups. Also nicely cut video! Loved it.

    Thanks! I appreciate the encouragement! My go to is the X2 Freedom grip and has been for quite a while now. I think the X2 material is the best for comfort and protection on higher rep gymnastics. Occasionally I’ll use the 3FC X2 for rings or toes to bar

    Yeah! If you are between sizes on the 3 finger grips, size up to the larger size! If you decide to get a pair of freedom grips at any point, size down for those. Thanks for watching!

    Great video! I have just a question: I found X2 a little too slippery on power coated bar, but I love the hand protection that they provide. Anyway, I'm struggling with grip strength on high rep, do you suggest trying tactical grips?

  • @TheSampleySix

    Hey great question! I don't think that you should switch if your trouble is with grip strength. First off, chalk up the X2s really good before you start your work. That helps me a lot. I would continue to build my grip strength though. I like the tactical grips but I recommend them more for people that are just starting CrossFit or as a secondary pair to have when the bar is wet or you are sweating a ton. Hope that helps!

    Does that "flap" of the grip get in the way when your holding on to the bar? Does it feel uncomfortable?

  • @TheSampleySix

    @TheSampleySix

    3 жыл бұрын

    Great question! A lot of that depends on which version/material you have. For most of them though you can fold the flap back by pulling down on it and it will stay out of the way. That’s what I do 90% of the time. This works especially well with the X2 Freedom grips! Sometimes if there’s not very many reps with the barbell or if I’m on the last round and I’m trying to go really fast, I’ll keep the grips on my palms and grab the barbell with them and it’s very comfortable! I’ve never had an issue with the flap getting in the way of the barbell with any of these and they are very comfortable! Other brands I have used definitely have been in the way and were uncomfortable Thanks for watching!

    awesome video, this video needs more views lmao. just one question, i see mention on each grip that it would be perfect for this workout or that workout. I need new grips and I really want to get some of these, i guess my question is, if you had to choose ONE grip, one material and one configuration, for your everyday use, which one would it be?

  • @TheSampleySix

    @TheSampleySix

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey!! Thanks for watching! I appreciate it! It kind of depends. First, would you use finger holes? If so get the 3 finger. If not get the freedom. Second, what do you want grips for? Most people want them to improve their grip on the bar but I don’t care as much about the grip and more about the protection. I like there to be a little slip between my grips and the bar when I rotate on things like muscle ups and chest to bar pull-ups. If you want the best grip, the Tactical material is the best and if you want a softer feel with more slip the X2 is the best. It’s hard to say but if I could only have one pair it would probably be the 3 finger X2 but just barely barely cause I love my freedom grips too 😂 it’s too hard to choose just one!!

    Great question! I would recommend the Tactical grips. They are the ones that I use when I know I will be sweating a whole lot. Those or the X2 material. I think it depends on if the problem is that you are slipping off the bar or if you are tearing because your hands are softer from sweat. If you are slipping from the bar then I would get the Tactical. Also, try wearing wrist wraps with them too to keep there from being excessive sweat running down your arm as well. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you so much for such a thorough review of all the grips! I’m a woman and started CrossFit in late 2019 and I am still struggling with my grip on the rig, mainly a comfort issue, and it’s really holding me back from improving. From your review, It sounds as though the X2 material would be best as far as comfort level, is that right? I was looking at the tactical originally, but since it is thinner and the interior Kevlar can be a bit more rough it doesn’t sound like they would be as comfortable as the X2. Thanks for the advice!

  • @TheSampleySix

    @TheSampleySix

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey! Glad you liked the video and it helped! Yeah, if the problem you’re having is only with comfort and not that your are having trouble gripping the bar then I would recommend the X2. I would probably look at the X2 Freedom grip. I would also look at how you grip the bar with your hands. Does it hurt on your palm just below your fingers? I would play around with gripping the bar a little different and see if that makes a difference as well!

  • @jordanpeebles3925

    @@TheSampleySix yup, that’s exactly where I have discomfort, on the pads right below the fingers. I have decent calluses built up but it doesn’t seem to help. I ordered the X2 Freedom grips and am excited to try them out! I’ll play around with my grip as you suggested to see if I can improve it. Thanks again!

  • @TheSampleySix

    @TheSampleySix

    3 жыл бұрын

    Awesome! Take a video and tag me on Instagram when you get them! Also, at a certain point, your calluses can get big enough to cause discomfort so I cut my calluses down ever so often to keep that from happening. You should be able to tell if it’s you calluses that hurt or if it’s your skin folding over and pinching your palm. What helped me was going from a “ape grip” where my thumb is on top of the bar with my other fingers, to a full grip where my thumb is grabbing the bar like I would grab a barbell. That also give you more muscle engagement, grip and control when doing movements on the pull-up bar Enjoy and let me know how the new grips feel!

    @@TheSampleySix will do! It won’t be very impressive though I promise haha, no where near your level. Our coach does require us to fully grip the bar with our thumbs wrapped around for safety, but my skin does pinch so I’ll play around with my grip to see if I can reduce the discomfort. Should get the new grips this week!

Yeah, I have a really hard time free flow talking on camera and saying everything that I want to do I write all my “reviews” first and then read them from a teleprompter so that I don’t spend a ton of time trying to say what I want to and then forgetting most of the points I want to make 😂 Maybe with more practice I’ll be able to do it off the top of my head one day though!
