    How about qatalyst (for tech buyside exits)

    Qatalyst is without a doubt the best IB for all corporate tech exits. If you want to do strategic finance, corp dev, business ops, etc. at a cool tech firm, Qatalyst is the #1 best for ALL investment banks, not just elite boutiques. It crushes even top groups at top BBs. For tech VC, I think Qatalyst is about tied with GS TMT / MS M&A for first. For tech PE and hedge funds, I think Qatalyst is about the same as other elite boutiques. It's hard to say exactly because I think fewer Qatalyst people are interested in those roles. But empirically, the placement seems to be about the same or potentially slightly worse for PE / HF.

    Could you do a video on career progression at a MF? I think it would be valuable to understand how progression and advancement works there based on variables such as Pre-MBA and Post-MBA along with how to manage the up or out culture of MFs. Thanks so much!

    Idk ab post employment placement, but PJT is great to work with. On the deals I’ve been on where they’ve advised, they were a pleasure to work with.

    Hey thanks for the video! For Canadians, how bad is the TN visa situation if you want to work at an EB? Especially if you have a Bachelor's in Commerce

    Extremely firm dependent, some firms will support you (Evercore is a great example) but some won't bother to go to the trouble. Generally just look for alumni at firms to gauge this. You can check H1Bdata.info for a bit more information.

    Currently working on one of the Elite Boutique firms mentioned. Only problem though is that I'm LatAm based and mobility is a big restriction for me (Visas, etc.) By any chance have you heard any outliers of people coming from EMEA markets and pivoting to Private Equity?

  • @PeakFrameworks

    I think the easiest way is to lateral internally first. PE firms don't have the legal infrastructure generally to support visas for a random individual. Much, much, much easier to go to the EB office in NY and then switch.

    Hey Matt, do bulge bracket regional offices in Toronto pay the same as in New York?

    Not 100% sure, but I don't think so. I think it might be the same number, but CAD vs. USD. My data's a little old.

    What are some things boutique pe groups can do to ensure culture is maintaining the same standard from having very hands-on founders to their transition to being more hands-off?

    Anybody got a clue if there are M&A Botiques out there who also have a good (!) standing in capital markets? I heard Jefferies would be such an example. HL also does DCM, but I dont know how relevant they are in this field and if Botiques are worth pursuing in regards of Capital Markets, or if just the Big Banks are really worth it in Terms of Career opps, acceleration and pay.

  • @PeakFrameworks

    @PeakFrameworks

    Most boutiques don't do any financing (by definition). Firms that do both M&A and financing become more like bulge brackets. Jefferies is a good example that kind of toes both, but they aren't as strong at M&A. RBC is probably in this category too, but I wouldn't consider them an M&A boutique.

    What about Rothschild? It’s THE number one EB in Europe

  • @PeakFrameworks

    @PeakFrameworks

    Rothschild does seem like the GOAT EB in Europe, but they still didn't show up on these screens for PE placement. I don't have any EU experience, so I didn't want to speculate too much further. They're pretty weak in the U.S.
