Full time recruiting is the last chance you have at on-cycle recruiting to break into investment banking, the buyside, and other undergraduate business roles. As soon as summer internships end, these firms immediately launch their recruiting processes and get people signed before the school year starts. To maximize your chances of getting an offer, make sure you have 1 contact at each prospective firm you want to work for, keep track of which firms will have openings, and know how to talk about your deals.

Recently joined a boutique IB from big 4 M&A and I gotta say thanks for all the videos and hardwork that you produce. I remember stumbling across your channel when I was still in college back in 2020. The insight you provide is second to none, so thanks for all the great content!

I'm in a similar position to you trying to move from M&A to an IB. Did you do this in the US or UK?

How difficult is it to move from a big 5 Canadian bank as an SA to an FT role in NYC?

Hey Matt, I am looking to do an MBA with the goal of becoming an investment banking associate. I am trying to decide between Ivey, rottman, or maybe queens. I am leaning towards Ivey because of its reputation but I am concerned because it is a 1 year program, so there is no internship. What are your thoughts on this? Do you need an internship to break in? or does ivey’s reputation make up for it?

Is it possible for the bank you’re looking to join FT be put off by the fact that you’re recruiting for another bank before you even finish your SA role? Also, any advice on how to network with another bank in a respectful manner while doing your SA role?

It's possible some people get annoyed, but there's not a great alternative. If you wait to finish your SA role, there won't really be enough time to establish a relationship with anyone. I would say reach out to your friends / alumni first and don't make it super intentional. Even if you piss a few people off, it's going to be overall worth it.

It theoretically is, but I don't think it's very easy. Most banks hire directly out of their internship class

@@PeakFrameworks So I'd need to have gotten an internship while in college to get a full time job? You mentioned in another video companies hiring industry experts. Or was that just for that position and not IB?

Hi Matt, why do you refer to the process of finding a role as 'recruiting'. My understanding is that 'recruiting' is the process undertaken by the employer, not the candidate.

  • @PeakFrameworks

I suppose it's semantics, but I think a lot of candidates describe their process as recruiting as well.
