    It's a Uniqlo oversized t-shirt, can't recommend them enough. I own like 10 and have tried a bunch of different premium t-shirts. This doesn't get mangled in the wash and is like $20 or something

    I think a PE video similar to the one you did for new IB analysts would be helpful

    Base salaries are at 110k for analyst 1 at every bulge bracket other than Deutsche (unless they raised as well). And An2/An3 have seen some equitable increases as well from these numbers.

    Great video! Just curious…. How different are the work hours for investment banking analysts in bulge brackets banks vs Elite boutique banks. Thanks!

    I’m starting school at the end of this month at 25. It’s probably going to be 5 years before I can get my finance degree because I have to work. Will I be at a disadvantage at 30 with a finance degree compared to somebody who is 22 and fresh out of college?

    Hey Matt, love the content! I’m curious, have you seen people break in from small boutique/ MM firms during SA to top banks for FT? I’m recruiting rn from a target. I started late but I really want to go to a top firm after school.

    Yup, all the time. Really depends on the year though for how good the FT market is. But even if you don't get it right at FT, you can probably lateral after 6 months or so of work.

    I think if you want to stay on the buyside, the quality of looks and roles you'll get is higher in PE. IB has better overall breadth, but there a lot of roles that specifically want someone with investing experience. As an example, lots of activist hedge funds or L/S hedge funds will want someone with PE experience. Not always true, but that's my perception of things.

    Hey! Love your videos and hello from Western U! I have a question about pension funds in Canada, is it possible to transition from a PE arm of a pension fund like (OTPP, CDPQ) and get into a US PE firm (KKR, BlackStone, Carlyle)? Keep up the good work!

  • @PeakFrameworks

    @PeakFrameworks

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, but not super common and probably more CPP and some OTPP. Never seen it done from CDPQ. It's probably like 1 person every few years who can make a jump to a tier 1 US PE firm.

  • @PeakFrameworks

    @PeakFrameworks

    I think best time is probably freshman year summer because banks tends to recruit out of sophomore year. For now, focus on joining the right clubs, meeting good people, and doing some light networking.

    Hey Matt, is this on average or just in NYC. How is it in Toronto compensation wise?

  • @PeakFrameworks

    @PeakFrameworks

    This is NY / US based (from Litquidity / Overheard on Wall Street surveys). Not 100% sure for Toronto, but back in my day I think the global banks paid the same number amount, but in CAD. Pretty sure all the Canadian banks pay less.

  • @PeakFrameworks

    @PeakFrameworks

    2 жыл бұрын

    It's hard to quantify since it's very commission oriented and fairly secretive. People who bring in large deals consistently can make >$10mm. I think if you're an MD at most BB / EBs, you're probably clearing >$1mm at least. Not 100% sure though

    #s kind of off. Most BB first year analyst bases are at 110k. For the banks that have third year instead of direct promote, third year analyst bases at 125k at the least, if not 150k.

    It’s interesting that you mentioned that you believe BofA and Barclays should be higher on the Vault list. I was wondering where you would place them in terms of rankings?

  • @PeakFrameworks

    @PeakFrameworks

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'd take Barclays over PWP in North America. I think BofA is probably = PJT, so IMO the score should be higher (even if the ranking is the same). BofA seems more group dependent, but many of the old Merrill teams are still really respected.

I’m thinking about doing FT recruiting for top PE MF - do you think I have a good shot/how would you prepare? I’m at target (H/S/W) with strong GPA fwiw

  • @PeakFrameworks

    Yeah you should be a top candidate for these roles. Make sure you can do a Paper LBO, start reading up on deals that the firms / groups you want to join are doing, and do some networking. Talk to people from your school who have placed into buyside (should be plenty from H and W at least). There are a very small number of spots though, so don't get too fussed if things don't land your way
