    Just a quick tutorial on the part. I'm not 100% certain this is it, but it's my best guess. Hope you enjoy!

    I really dig that the whole guitar scene is talking about my guitar Idol/inspo in the year of our lord 2023.

    That sounds pretty damn good. Watch him play it live, he doesn't hammer on any notes it appears to be all alternate picking. Pretty incredible.

    Thanks for watching. Although it does sound like he it, he actually doesn't alt pick this entire passage. It's a common sound (pick open string, hammer on somewhere) that he and many people have used throughout the years. Since I made this video there was actually a live performance of this, and this one is probably the best angle: kzread.infomWN5CY9mzoc?feature=share

    Nuno says his RAT pedal on a very low setting is crucial for the tight percussive tone he gets ,,thank you so much for sharing your experience,,brilliant mate !@

    the bill lawrence USA 500 makes the percussive pick attack easier too. I have an N2 and I cant recreate the percussive hammer-ons and muted notes as better than when I use other guitars

    Incredible teacher. Incredible guitarist. Would love to be a student. Not sure at 50 years old that I'd be able to learn quickly. But You are very inspiring. You are the first person I thought about when I heard this solo. If anyone can figure this out, it's you...

    you are right, he uses a boss octave pedal at that last part ....also the rat pedal helps tighten the tone like a drum

    I was experimenting with open string hammer ons the day and noticed a different tone using only upstrokes. Feels weird but it seemed a bit snappier

    Tastiest motif I've heard in a while! I like when the synth chords kick in about half way through it. I read Nuno likes to use delay with the repeat at 0 time at 25% and mix at 50% to get a doubling effect, not sure if hes using it here though...

    He definitely does that (so do many others). There is a chance that is happening here, but it is pretty playable with the open string shenanigans which usually means it's being played normally.

    When Nuno plays this section there is some kind of cool sounding synth tone blended in. Anyone know what he might’ve used to get that tone?

    Love your playing. I know you get clicks this way but it seems to me that everybody and their mother is showing me how to play this. Nuno can't be the only skilled player out there that can come up with stuff like this. I'm a Nuno fan but I can't see what the big deal is. Maybe it's just me.

    Thanks for the comment. I actually made this tutorial because I thought it was a good example of something that sounds really nuts but is actually not, which I personally always like as a topic. He is 100% not the only person that comes up with this stuff. The core idea is utilizing open strings and then hammering on to notes from those open strings. By coming up with specific patterns, you can get really wild jumpy sounding licks while keeping them pretty straightforward to play. The second I heard this part of the solo I knew exactly what it was already, because to physically play this note for note without using a trick like open strings would be wildly overcomplicated. All I had to do was listen for open strings being picked, confirm what I was hearing, and then get the pattern. Not to mention being in drop D makes it even easier, because anything you do on the drop D string you can copy and paste on the normal D string. But yeah, this sort of open string -> hammer on somewhere tactic is very popular. The band Fall of Troy does it all the time, the earlier periphery stuff, and many other guitar players as well.

    Do you wear those nails for any particular musical reason?

  • @LoGsounds

    @LoGsounds

    My playing style is either using pick and fingers or entirely fingers. I grew up playing classical guitar so I'm very familiar with using nail when striking the string, but my real nail gets destroyed from steel strings. The acrylics I use are basically indestructible, and they allow me to keep playing like normal.
