Log, you might be the best guitar teacher on earth. I've been playing for 25 years. Have had a handful of teachers. Have watched countless hours of instructional videos. I have had the privilege of going to clinics hosted by the absolute greats like Guthrie Govan, John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert, Andy Timmons but no one delivers these concepts in the concise way that you do. I ran into your power up 21 videos over the summer and now it's my daily warm up. You have given new life to the way I approach theory on this instrument that I love so much. Thank you.

I appreciate that! Glad you're going through that power up, it's one of my favorites although it's a pain in the ass!

There aren’t many people who both play and teach at that level. Guthrie Trapp from Artistworks is close, but he’s more general in his explanations and heavier on the inspirational examples. Definitely less breakdown and explanation of theory.

Seriously. Calorie-rich videos.
Any fool can make something complicated. It takes a genius to make complicated things simple. Thank you LoG !!!!

Thank you for your words, trying my best!
This guy knows the fretboard so intensly
Thanks for dispelling the music theory myth. I fell for it. I’m a good musician, but should be so much further ahead. It’s been 30 years and now learning theory.

Thanks for the comment. Definitely put time into it, it can be confusing in the beginning, but I promise it is actually pretty straightforward, and will absolutely make your music life much easier.
This is what "knowing your sh*t" looks like lol... I don't think you paused for a second to think, it's just drilled into your memory from learning it thoroughly - Super impressive! Really spoke to me when you mentioned people that come back to understand the basics 20 years later. I've always been involved with music, but never started to understand theory until about 2 years ago in my 30s. It's a like, sub, and a ton of respect from me. Thanks for this great lesson!

That little short has provided such a big breakthrough. Never realized how easy it was to harmonize a melody. I've become addicted to shell voicings ever since(:

They are great that's for sure!
I've been playing over 40yr,this is one of the best lessons on the internet .
There is so much information in this one video that it’s worth months of practise. Thanks man, this is gold.

Somehow the logic all sticks. Yeah lots of practice to do but damn it is all so logical
A lot of information presented concisely in one video. I would recommend this video for someone stuck in intermediate level playing.
This channel has the proper foundation needed to step into something like Robbie Barnaby's channel. those channels are not for noobs or intermediates. this is definitely the channel for intermediates to level up to advanced. I love how LoG teaches everything! this channel is a absolute goldmine for all guitarists!
As someone who thought theory was a waste of time and for orchestra nerds or something, i avoided it for decades, I just wanted to play. the difference of learning even basic major scale, intervals & chords is just invaluable, its worth the effort. Its quicker and easier to learn with understanding.

It is a shame that it's such a common mentally in the guitar world. I have met so many players who have been playing for decades that have a lesson with me and immediately regret not learning it in their early years. It's literally the answer to all of the sounds they want, but from the way it's generally taught (especially with the needlessly complex terminology) so many people avoid it early on.
Best explanation by far. Ive had paid so much money online to learn what you taught here. I love you man. God bless you.
You’re without a doubt one of the best sources of music instruction and knowledge in all of internetland. Many thanks.

11:33 summarized my music experience in 15s XD Mate, your videos are pure gold.
My brain had a mini glitch when you started mixing the chords and melodies in the short. 🤯
Thanks for refreshing my memory about the "Chord Shapes" on strings 5-4-2 being exactly the same as the "Chord Shapes" on strings 4-3-1. (Immediately picks up guitar and enjoys playing through various scales with 3 note chord shapes. Having too much fun!) Expanding on your idea - the "Power Chord Shapes" on strings 5-4 & 4-3 are exactly the same - the "Sixth Interval Shapes" on strings 4-2 & 3-1 are exactly the same! Thanks again for your Insightful Guitar Fingerboard Lesson.
The lecture at the eleven and a half mark is gold and needs to be cut out and made its own video. Absolute gold.
You have answered questions I have been asking for years. I have had college professors that could not articulate this.

I’m learning how to learn and discovering this channel is exponentially enabling!
I'm 63 now, and have been "trying" to learn guitar since I was about 10. I have made more progress in the last 5 years then the entire 50 years before because of KZread and ALL the great teachers on this platform! Thank you to each one of you for taking the time to make these lessons. Imagine how good I would be on the guitar now if we had KZread 50 years ago!!!
Thank you so much for showing this. 👍🏻😃 I've been struggeling for decades to find the right notes on the fretboard. I didn't understand all that stuff about scales and notes. My brain said goodbye and the joy of making music too. I always thought, there must be a way to find the notes without being a scientist. Thank you so much. I am happy and learning with joy and fun. 😃👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for the comment. It's definitely not as difficult as it seems, it's just unfortunately not really taught correctly all the time!
Took me about 10 years to figure out what you worded in the first 5 min. I can really see some youngster flicking a light switch there. Cool exercise!
WOW!!! Gonna take me a minute....,Great stuff here, I like your philosophy. Thank you for sharing this introspect. Have to thank Chris Sherland for turning me on to you!
Thank you for saying what needed to be said about diatonic harmony. I can’t believe how many guitarist don’t think it’s necessary or important. Btw, this may be the best/most practical explanation of diatonic harmony I have seen.

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you enjoyed the approach!
Exactly what I wanted to know. I went through ALL of your videos yesterday trying to find some explanation to this and I came across one that covered what was going on there. Thanks for this!
JAMES SCOTT NICHOLSON,ONTARIO, CANADA 🇨🇦 YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER, NOT EVERYONE LEARNS AT THE SAME RATE. I. HAVE HAD A GREAT BASS PLAYER FRIEND, I AM A 40 year guitarist. HE WAS BORN WHEN HIS MOM WAS, BARELY 15 . HE WAS DYSLEXIC, HIS MOM SUFFERED DEPRESSION ORIGINALLY FROM HAVING HIM EARLY,AND WOULD BITE HIM!!! BUT HE COULD PLAY AMAZING SLAP BASS LINES, BUT COULD NOT FOLLOW ME THROUGH A 3 CHORD SONG. SO YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER PEOPLE ARE HERE HOPING THAT THIS TIME IT WILL MAKE SENCE....NO DISRESPECT ♥️♥️✌️🙏☮️🕊🌎💯%🙏 TOP LEFT TO YOUR CHANNEL,ONE OF THE BEST ON HERE....
Thanks I saw that short quite a few times and felt something was left out in my understanding.
I really hope he reads this so he knows in the 6 years I’ve done music theory this is the best video/tutorial I have ever seen, like this has actually saved my guts in learning more guitar

Holy sh*t, I’ve been trying to find someone to explain this for forever
this man is a godsend. please make more of these longer videos. i find your shorts useful but they go by too quickly, and 1 minute isn't really enough to explain a concept like this to amateurs like me. thank you for this sir🙏

So this is what Tenacious D was always talking about. My mind feel BLOWN at the moment.
one of the most simplest explanation in youtube. cheers!
I wish I could force my friends to watch just the "DO NOT IGNORE" section of this video.
100% true. 45yrs playing tells me so
Man… this video unlocked a door for me that I couldn’t seem to open. Thank you man. New subscriber.
Love this video just start 6 months in, and one eye just opened.. great lesson
I must agree with the TERRIBLE MISTAKE of not focussing on this lesson which caused me personally a lifetime (56yrs) of confidence destroying confusion and waste of potential. (I am now 68 yrs old and have been "playing" since age 12 "self taught" ) I never understood or focussed on these foundational principles that I'm learning right now in this lesson despite years watching many videos and learning songs by ear. This is a huge breakthrough for me and I see I must work this material until it is my nature (mind and muscle memory) to think and play accordingly. Thank you so much for your message to me today directing me to this lesson (and the diminished lesson originally). Such a talented player and teacher regardless of any student's years played at any level. God bless you! Your humble student, AS🙏🙌🫶🫶
