TEZ8 Repair: KTT881-R Walkthrough

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

WARNING:
Tampering with or attempting to repair a machine used with A2L refrigerants is prohibited unless performed by an Appion Factory Trained Service personnel.
As the only field serviceable AC/R vacuum pump on the market, Appion’s TEZ8 can be repaired by technicians using common hand tools and the KTT881-R repair kit. This video will walk you through each step required for a successful repair.
‼️ Note that this is a complete rebuild that will require full disassembly of the pump, which should only be necessary if you are encountering performance issues (such as extremely long times to complete an evacuation), or if the TEZ8 will not operate at all. If you are encountering other issues (such as the pump is only able to pull to a certain vacuum level) it’s possible that the repair is much simpler and will not require a complete rebuild. Contact Appion for further assistance: support@appiontools.com
⚠️WARNING ⚠️ This is an advanced repair and requires a great deal of precision to complete successfully. Each step presented in this video must be performed exactly as shown, if you skip or miss any steps the pump may not operate correctly or at all. If you do not wish to perform this repair yourself, Appion offers flat-rate repair service which includes a complete rebuild of the TEZ8. Contact repairs@appiontools.com for additional information.

Bro, see this is why Appion is the best. They literally show you how to service your equipment. Or you can send it back to them for repairs, of course with a fee. Go find other manufacturers of vacuum pumps that offer this type of design and service transparency

Thanks for the video! Immensely helpful but... 10:49 It Says: "installed as shown, with the ends of valves bending AWAY from cylinder" It Shows: valves being installed, bending away from the chamber, and bending TOWARD the cylinder :( I hope away from the cylinder is correct. I'm starting my rebuild today

The valves bending away is to make sure the orientation is correct. The video is the correct way. The valves typically wont have that prominent of a bend, to show people what we mean, we first put them on the cylinder to show "look these do have a bend, when testing to see what way the valves are bending put them on the cylinder with the bend going away from the cylinder, then transfer them to the valve chamber as shown."

@@Appiontools So when it's all installed and done, which way are the ends of the valves pointing? Away from the cylinder and towards the chamber? Or the oppposite?

@@penderway when its fully installed, the valve ends will be going towards the cylinder away from the valve chamber. Just follow the visual exactly.

Man, I never trusted my TEZ8. It never pulled a deep enough vacuum, even when using large diameter hoses. I may have rebuilt this pump if I would have seen this video. I ended up throwing the pump away.

i am trying to rebuild this pump but everytime i get to putting the endplate over the cylinder housingand rotating the fan simultaneously the shafted assembly gets jammed am i missing something? i have uninstalled and reinstalled the assembly 5 or 6 times at this point with no luck same problem. all lock pins are seated i check that the vane doesnt bind and has no freeplay during each section and still catching when i go to tighten the 4 bolts up

Just off the top of my head, my first thought would be to make sure that you're tightening the bolts in a crisscross pattern. Tighten them incrementally while rotating the fan in between. For example, only quarter tighten each bolt in a crisscross pattern then try the fan, then go to half tight and try the fan again, all the way until the bolts are at 40 inch-pounds of torque. If you fully tighten the bolts initially, by the time you tighten the last bolt it could incidentally overtighten the previous bolts. If this doesn't fix the problem, please reach out to Support@AppionTools.com and we will get you taken care of.

@@Appiontools I have tried that method a few times already with no luck do you think it's possible that the bushing at the front end of the motor assembly is extending outward and forcing the Piston not to seat correctly in the secondary stage

@@ascendinghavoc5106 I would reach out to support@appiontools.com they have a bit more knowledge when it comes to repair than I do off hand. It gets a bit difficult (especially with the TEZ8 repairs) to diagnose the problem quickly without having the machine in front of me.
