Tesla Terafactory Texas Update

Hey everyone, it’s Randy! In today’s footage we see the aftermath of some pretty heavy downpours we had the night before. The site is soaked in a few areas and all along the outskirts of the building footprint, but we can still see that major work is still progressing just fine. Oh and before we get to the footage, you’ll see where I try to get a lower and closer look into the west side of the GA building but the drone kept losing signal as I got closer to the building on two attempts, so maybe I’ll have to park elsewhere to avoid this happening.
Here are today’s key takeaways:
- The north end shows the new lot is now being used by a small number of vehicles near the contractor trailers. Near the building, we have a new excavation and the trench box assembled that we saw in pieces near the power lines in my last video and they are actively removing water from the area. The northern gap shows a fairly soaked corridor on both the ground floor and the upper level.
- The GigaPress area shows rebar and forms placed for the last remaining section of concrete to be poured. We can also see the designated areas where loading bays will also be on this side as well. Underneath, we see the wet floors in the areas below the new structure as the roof membrane is still yet to be applied here. The angled corner of the building shows remarkable progress with the wall panel installation as two days ago, they had one panel remaining on the east-facing side before they would start on the angled corner and here we can see that they are more than 50% completed with the panels for this angled corner section.
- The Stamping area shows an active pour in progress for another large concrete section and we can even see the forms for the next section underway that will start the transition to the angled corner. Notice that we can see them framing this section to match the angle for the sections that will be poured there as well.
- The southern gap is holding a lot of water and the south end shows standing water surrounding the center row footings yet to have fill soil placed around them. The north end is also fairly wet, but continues to show progress of the steel erecting taking place.
- A view from the south shows that a new paved road has been added all along this end of the building, but it’s a little hard to see due to the mud, but we can see plenty of trucks already taking advantage of it. The detention ponds on this end are all filled with a good amount of water as well.
- The GA west side shows a huge section of panels that were actually removed and here we get a quick glimpse of the internals of this part of the factory. This is the area where I mentioned the signal loss while trying to get closer looks, so the behavior of the drone will show the RTH sequence start a couple of times, but I just left them in the footage so we could see as many frames as possible of this area.

    At 4:14 those water tanks next to the excavation may mean they're digging for a way to hook up the permanent water line to replace the water tanks. Thanks, Randy for the great video.

    Just found on the drawings released a few weeks ago there's a 'paint storage secondary containment vault' right at that location. 14/72 of the drawings Joe posted on 29 Sept.

    @ 12:28 Looks like work on the stormwater system south of the building is at a stop for a while. At least until the ponds drain. Let's hope there aren't any more storms for a while.

    Still working in a mud pie - that is expensive. Tesla needs to get roads and drainage in very early and should be thinking about the next buildings it wants up.

    Seems like those large windows were an after thought given the amount of wall panels that were removed.

    The panels removed were in a “Phase 1” building, while everything else was Phase 2. It was a design change for sure, but it likely was done this late because they were waiting for the angled glass- long lead time.

    Does anyone know why the Giga Berlin Battery plant had tons of rebar installed in its battery plant foundations vs Giga Austin especially if they ae to have similar 4680 manufacturing techniques... is it just German over engineering?

    Ahh it looks like they decided to do the angled windows on the west side. previously they had the smaller windows go all the way to the big windows.

    I thought the windows were supposed to be the Tesla logo; looks like they made a mistake there earlier when the small windows ran straight into the larger ones.

    @DavidJohnson-tv2nn

    If you remember, they installed the wall panels and the smaller windows up to a certain point and stopped installation for a while. My guess is that they made a change in plans at that point to go with the tall widows and an angled transition on each side. Now, they are going back and adding the angled transition on the north side of the tall windows.

    @@DavidJohnson-tv2nn Yeah which is a shame because the small window design looked better.

  • @DavidJohnson-tv2nn

    @DavidJohnson-tv2nn

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@boostav It comes down to individual opinion. I think tall window design looks better for two reasons.... The angled transition breaks up the design. So you don't have a wall almost a mile long that is all the same. Second, the tall windows make it look more like an office building than a factory. It looks open and inviting. I think we can all agree that the worst possible design would be a dungeon with no windows.

    Yes it works, but the storm "F" - ed up their ability to continue construction on that very same system. North pond -- Flooded. South pond -- Flooded. River outfall structure -- Most likely flooded. There is a lot of work to complete. Including over 600 feet of retaining wall, with pilings, in the south pond. And a splitter box that is 37' x 69' and diversion pipes in the flooded area of the north pond.
