Tesla Terafactory Texas Update

Welcome back guys, it’s Randy! In today’s footage we see a few more updates that allude to possibly some major GigaPress updates. Of course we have lots of other things happening around the site to cover as well. Hopefully we’ll be able to have a much clearer picture about what’s going on with the GigaPress in the coming week or so, but until then we’ll just have to piece things together as they happen.
Here are today’s key takeaways:
- The north end shows work we saw installing the pipes in the ground is now directly north of the paint shop. We also see that delineator lane divider posts have been added to the curved road section on this end as well. More IDRA GigaPress parts have also arrived as we can see 2 trucks used for the delivery, one of which still has its payload.
- The GigaPress area shows there are actually two new excavation areas as there is one on each side of the white excavator shown in the center. The roof shows the progress of laying the WWM and we also see that the structural steel has one section remaining in the gap until it reaches the last beam currently in place.
- The BIW wall panel installation near stamping has just 2 panels remaining to be put into place! On the roof and towards the Paint Shop and GIgaPress of this building, we see the work being done above the chillers.
- The southern gap shows the concrete and drilled shaft work rapidly approaching the south end of the gap within the pit. The opposite end shows work ongoing with the footings and here we can see forms and rebar being put into place before concrete can be poured. We now see a new drainage pipe being installed at the southwest corner of the gap opening, which I imagine will connect to the similarly sized black pipe being installed along the western side of the pit.
- The GA west side shows wall panel installation has now resumed. A new tent and eating area for the workers is not set up and we also see that dock levelers have also arrived and are ready for installation. Further north, we see new glass and glass installation equipment has arrived but I wonder what will be different about the glass in this container compared to what we’ve already seen.
- The BCP shows that concrete has been poured and now covers all of the pipes that were coming out of the building on the north side of the new wall that was recently installed. On the roof, we get an updated look at the work being done on the Evapco equipment.
- Work continues with the assembly of the space frames in the far northeast corner of the site for the northern gap and we can see the progress after having the most recent section installed.
- Lastly, we get an updated look at the work taking place above the paint shop in this sectioned off area of the roof shown.

Thanks Randy 7:00. East side BIW. Another dumper bin on the roof. Good reminder of the height of the parapet. 8:18. South alleyway. West side of BIW. Stripped off a row of the green wall sheets, exposing the bulk insulation and studs. Might be preparing for the new structure. 8:20. Big pit, first rebar cage on left has rebar projecting above the cage, likely for a column pedestal. Similar detail to the footings around the water vaults.

As they close off areas these condensing units are able to cool areas adequately. They are using the same type of unit in Germany.

Long span, light loading is typical for space frames. It isn’t the type of structure you want to use for just a small area when you are building them though, so it makes sense that they are only used in a location where they had ~50,000 square feet of it needed.

The spaceframe trusses are used due to the long span. Use of steel beams to span that gap would not only require larger beams, but bigger columns and footings as well. The trusses are a quick and easy solution.

Hmm. Well, they had build three footings, initially, and a 4th "blank spot". Then they jack-hammered out the 4th blank sport maybe a month ago. But we never got a good look at what got built there. The first three footings were fancy -- shallow digging, special rebar work, I beams embedded in the concrete. We didn't see any of that for the jackhammered spot. So I'm confused about that. Anyway, the carriage for the bridge crane broke, and got removed 2-3 months ago, and it *still* hasn't been put back in service. This is going to impede assembly. Hard to lift the heavy parts without it.
