I'm glad you "coughed" Electrek. I used to subscribe to them, but stopped when Fred Lambert started going anti-Tesla in his stories. I still hear about his slanted stories from you guys every now and then. Pro EV is fine and dandy. But keep opinions on the editorial page, not the front page.

There is a clear trend of 'the woke' / progressive tubers ditching Tesla. It emerged about six months ago. Or at least they are clearly showing sharper criticism towards the company now. Not an insignificant trend, IMO.

@@mikapeltokorpi7671. "imo" you have zero idea of the meaning of "woke" and that you link it with "progressive" simply marks you as "easily led". . (Look up the term "progressive" as well?) . You would no doubt categorise me as both, however, I consider myself "aware" ("woke") of the clumsy tactics being used. And "Progressive" in wanting the technology and the energy transition to succeed. . As such I have absolutely zero intention of "ditching" Tesla. . I looked around for in depth reporting on youtube about Tesla early on and found the NowYouKnow channel, so recognized the FUD for what it is and what motivates it when I was contemplating getting a Model S but couldn't justify paying the down payment on a pretty big house for a car. I was already suspicious of the oil cartel and the auto dealer networks because of the turn of the century / millennium GM EV1 debacle, so was primed to distrust propaganda about the alleged impracticality of EVs. It took a year or so to convince my wife that the Tesla Model 3 was so much better than any other car on the market in 2018-19 that it was worth paying almost double what we paid for our 2006 Toyota Camry to get what turned out to be hands down the best car I ever owned or drove by pretty much every imaginable criterion.

I save about 5k a year for the free supercharging. Had the car for about 5 years so about a total of 25k savings on charging. I would say the money saved paid for the repairs. Idk. I wouldn't get another car again unless it somehow is better than Tesla. I've convinced a few people to get a Tesla. It's the best car I've ever owned.. and it's just a 2013 model s single motor.

Specify? . A ballpark figure of the *most expensive* Tesla charger at 53p with a pessimistic (Tesla) 3m/ kWh , compared to a diesel price of £1.51/ litre (London, cheap station, this week) puts a 40mpg ICE at 70% more expensive. (And that's just for fuel) . Of course if you want to choose a less efficient EV, use the most expensive chargers (why would you?) and hypermile a diesel, you might fiddle a negative bias.... (Note that I downgraded the Tesla figure from the recognised (better) consumption of 4+m/kWh, took the *highest* priced peak time Supercharger (normally circa 40p) and improved the Diesel consumption (My regular consumption as a Modeo business driver was 32-36 mpg doing "actual work") . (Oh... The diesel price, my local Sainsbury's, always the cheapest in the area)

Teslas weakness is going to be competition once automakers finally figure it out and they will. Once there are better options they will find it harder to sell. @rob8969 . So... Step 1: Figure "it" out, to the extent that the technology "you" have (ALL of it) is better than that produced by Tesla. . Step 2: Combine that technology into designs which you feel be "competitive" . Step 3: Finalise production plans, where necessary converting/ building factories. . Step 4: Finesse production, then ramp to profitable numbers, selling every vehicle. . The problems? . You're building or buying in (coughporscherimaccough) technology which you hope will both work and still be "cutting edge" as you launch the vehicle. Then just as you announce plans there's a leak/ official release from Tesla detailing ...... Updates to FSD Or Octovalve Or casting technology Or 48v architecture Or new production methods ("unboxed".... Toyota facepalm the same week as they described the current Model Y as a masterpiece?) . These immediately render your "competitive technology" if not obsolete, "mediocre". . *The assumption "Tesla will wait for us" is incorrect* . Then there's the fact that Tesla is building not "vehicles" but "the system". Vehicles are just a means to the end goal of "Energy Transition" (ref Master Plan 2006.... The one everyone ignored?) They are combining the vehicles with the charging system (PLUS, as will soon become apparent, the ENERGY system). If others do manage to: . SURVIVE to the point of producing those compelling vehicles. And They are "competitive" And They arrive in numbers sufficient to move the needle. AND There are enough examples from various sources to take significant share... . Then there's a pretty good chance that some (the majority?) will be running some form of Tesla software and or other systems. . That they may be running a taxi fleet on the Tesla model (the REAL endgame isn't "building/ selling vehicles" it's "Running, maintaining and refurbishing the fleet"!) . That they will be charging on equipment built by Tesla (operated by those companies?) . That they will "fill up" with energy from Tesla Megapacks (at a "good" price to keep charging costs low, but still a profit for Tesla) ..... As for "the US wants SUVs" . Well... "The US" isn't "the global market" and fashions change. . Don't be surprised if kids born today laugh at their parents/ Grandparents for ever owning a car. . When you have "a vehicle" of the size and type you require arrive where you are, when you want it to take you anywhere at minimal cost, why would you "own" one?

Using this to justify Bloomberg’s article as “FUD” leads me to believe you guys have reach a point where you’ve drunk all of Elon’s kool-aid, and refuse to deliver honest news. Something isn’t “FUD” because you don’t like it, or it’s negative. I know you guys are passionate and enthusiastic about Tesla, but if you can’t open your eyes and see Elon and his companies for what they are (not a techno-future hyper dream), then you guys are a lost cause. It *WAS* "pretty standard Journalism" to protect sources.... Occasionally. . BUT it's become standard practice to use the phrase as a tactic to .... "gather opinion" (regurgitate the same unconfirmed piece around tens of outlets) resulting in a "backslapping" narrative of "everyone says so, therefore it must be true" . (But ONLY in *your* bubble!)) . The "fact" is, these unsubstantiated opinion pieces rarely match the actual "truth" (data) which emerges months later. . What they DO is skew opinion among the uninformed and lazy, . It would be *more difficult* to "justify"(classify?) the Bloomberg "article" as FUD *IF* a growing proportion of their output wasn't already *proven* to be so (as in "not found to be correct as events unfold"). ..... "If you don't like something" or there's a "negative" comment, the *correct* action is surely to point out "I don't like that.... *BECAUSE* " and provide logical, reasonable argument to the contrary? . Isn't that what happened here? . On that subject... I'd love to hear *your* opinion on "what Elons' companies are"? . ("Techno-future hyper dream" isn't a valid answer) . Maybe if you read the 2006 Master Plan, then consider the progress so far, you might recognise that those goals are being achieved?. As in not "a dream", more fulfilled targets despite "opposition" (FUD😉) from those with vested interest" . (1 request.... If you DO read the Plan..... Don't tell anyone!! ) . Personally, I doubt you were ever "a fan"... . As for viewership... You're still here!!! 👍 (Maybe you're seen as an easy target? Not of consequence? Irrelevant? A purveyor of FUD?)

They’ve been up you for battery installations, but down yoy for solar installations. This mythos Elon has propped up that Tesla is “10 companies in 1” is exaggerated. Tesla Solar, Tesla batteries, Tesla bot, Tesla FSD, are all technologies whose capabilities are exaggerated. Zach and Jesse bought it hook line and sinker. And guess what? We still don’t have FSD. We still don’t have solar & grid scale batteries at scale. None of the promises that gave this company a 1 trillion dollar market cap a couple years ago was based on anything but Elon’s word. And we know what that’s worth now.
