If we start renaming things based on a person's personal belief or how they lived their lives, we may end up calling an arena "The Arena" because surprise, everyone's flawed. Lol.

Margaret Court is a champion and should be celebrated as such. She does major charity work in Western Australia, yet these people refuse to acknowledge the amazing things she continues to do.

Sports in Australia is in a bad way when populist opinions can undermine a tribute to one of its greatest sports people. Navratilova is an active lesbian with no regard it seems for the views of others who may have a different lifestyle to herself..........does Australia need this person actively campaigning on its home soil? What a shambles this is with Rugby Australia and Tennis Australia cowering down to the whims and fancies of social groups as we've seen in this last year..........how cowardly it is.

Margaret Court has every right to her beliefs about marriage and to express it. Why is she a hater for expressing a view which has always been a mainstream view since since the world began.

without progressive thinking, the world would still be flat and witches would still be burned at the stake or drowned. the reason why court's views are akin to those of "when the world began", is because a two thousand year old book is telling her to ignore anything she might learn on a subject that contradicts it's so-called 'teachings'.

It'll be very very interesting when sports organisations in Aussie have to deal with transgender supposed sportspeople.......rugby, tennis, netball, soccer et al..........I can't wait to see the kerfuffle and BS that's going to be at the forefront of this issue............it'll be a real bun fight. From what we've seen of how they(Rugby Australia and Tennis Australia) have not been able to handle Folau and Court in the last year at all well.............it's going to be hilarious........and how sad it will be for all the 'straight' gender sportspeople, you know, true female and male competitors having to live through this craziness...........it's a sick sick world right now.

Tennis has been leading the way for Equal Pay for Women, long before Australian soccer's new collective bargaining agreement began. This issue is about Margaret Court voicing her negative views and opinions about others, publicly. SHE is the one not accepting equality and diversity.

We’re not celebrating Margaret’s LGBTI views, we’re celebrating her sporting achievements. She might be against the LGBTI movement with a great number of others btw, I haven’t heard her show active involvement against LGBTI in sport, although she may well be. But if she is not being actively against LGBTI in sport, then where’s the problem. In glory, her commitment to Christian values will be celebrated - by the King of kings and Lord of lords at heaven’s podium

I think both she and you will feel very stupid when you go to the same place everyone else goes when they die and realise you were just being a hateful bigot. If you actually believe that people are hated and exhaled by god because of their sexuality, it’s an extremely poor reflection on you, and it’s pitiful. So sad.

Court should of course be recognized for her achievements. No reason why she should have to ask for this simple recognition. Also why are they giving it to Rod Laver and not her ? Is there a particular reason for this? I'm suspecting it's because she's a woman and I usually don't jump to that conclusion first. Not sure what she said about the LGBT community but I believe they are against women and women's rights so...
