Aside from that a number of unfinished prototype characters for Virtua Fighter, which I should note are still in that game's code, made an appearance in Tekken. The most obvious one being Prototype Jack who looks identical to Prototype Jeff, and perhaps less obvious way Siba influenced Yoshimitsu's fighting style which is especially evident in his Fighter's Megamix appearance.

Yes, Seiichi Ishii. I believe Daichi Katagiri designed the characters in question. Ishii also directed one of my favorite games Metal Max Returns.

The reason why Tekken had those moon jumps was because ex Virtua fighter developers like Seiichi Ishii worked on Tekken 1, and 2.

Yume Aihara We have an arcade on our local mall which has a Tekken 6 arcade cabinet signed by Harada himself. :P

Tekken 2 had some dope ass hidden cheats and shit. Juggle mode, wireframe, bighead, etc.. Unlocking the characters was crazy then too.

I love how Paul's fighting style is supposedly Judo, a martial art with no strikes, and all he does is strike, even in most of his throws. Might explain why Austin Power's Judo Chop is so OP.

King is such an awesome character. He has a move in this game that makes the opponent over -90 on block.

Fun fact, up until Tekken 3, It was just the wind god fist. Jin was the first Mishima to get an EWGF. Then, in Tekken Tag 1, where Heihachi got it, then Tekken 4 where Kazuya got it. This Makes Kazuya, the first playable Mishima, the last of the 3 to actually get the revered EWGF, which has now become one his most essential tools to this day.

Oh lmao, I always wondered why fighting games back in the day had such little health bars. Like, 4 hits and you're done Then I remembered, they were arcade games. Gotta milk them quarters out of you!

This came with my first ps1 along with Crash Bandicoot.

Fun Fact - Kazuya does a three hit combo in one of the intros that he has never had in ANY Tekken. Why it's forgotten/not used is beyond me.

this was my introduction to Tekken way back in 2017. I thank Max for getting me hooked on Tekken.

I rented 1, owned 2 & 3, played Tag 1, played 4, skipped 5, owned Dark Resurrection, skipped 6, owned Tag 2. I've never delve into the competitive scene so I don't see myself as even moderately good, but watching others play Tekken 7 before its release makes me want to pick it up again.

The thing that gets me is that their animations have been the same since the beginning. The attacks, the hit recoil, the jumps, even the stances, it's all the same. Man, I'm surprised they didn't change it up at all!

Tekken was my first 3D Fighting game and my first Playstation 1 game! So it has a special place in my heart.

Funny enough: The magazine called it a "Tekken / Battle Arena Toshinden Mix" And to be honest: When it comes to 3D Fighting Games: Battle Arena Toshinden is the least known game of all 3D Fighters.

TTT literally was the e"Everybody's Here!" of the time, every single character from earlier Tekkens was in it + a new one *wink* also Tetsujin......

Respect to Namco for having the balls to make their initial protagonist the main villain of the franchise. Not many games do that.

If there's one thing I've learned from Tekken 1, it's this: Don't fight your dad, even if he threw you off a cliff. He will read your every move

Harada produced the first & second Tekken games while he did the voices for Yoshimitsu, Marshall Law, & Kunimitsu. It wasn't until the Third game when he became the director.

That Jack voice on Heihachi though. So glad Max and the crew getting in on Tekken.

Man, Jack looks weird as shit in Tekken 1. The normal human legs and enlarged upper body look bizarre.

Tekken 4 was my childhood, my favorite ps2 fighting game :D

I had this game in 95 and I was in love with Tekken. It looks absolutely wretched now.

Even though Sergei Dragunov is my favorite character now, I've always liked how Paul hasn't really changed throughout the series. They've made some changes but very subtle ones so you'd always have that one familiar/old faithful character to fallback on.

It's literally this simple Dan. He will play it and cover, at minimum a week or 2 of coverage. If he likes it, he'll keep playing. If not he'll probably only look at it again if dlc interests him. It's like this with EVERY MAJOR FIGHTING GAME. He has no obligation to you to play a game he doesn't end up liking.

That scream with Max highlighted Nina lmao. Man, graphics have come a long way. Btw, some KZreadrs have done compilations of individual characters throughout the series. It's pretty neat.

Incredible times. Tekken 1 was the first PS1 game I really got into, and it was so exciting to have 2 & 3 come out later on.

I have every single tekken. Started at 3. Then went back and got 1&2. Then got every single one since then, one of my fav game series

Tekken games I have: 1. Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Tekken 4 3. Tekken 5 4. Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online 5. Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion 6. Tekken Hybrid 7. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 It's safe to say that I'm an avid fan of this epic fighting game series. ^_^

I briefly played Tekken one but T2 I was amazed at the opening cinematic and after hours of playing I was shocked to see unlockable characters it was like the fun never ended.

Tekken was the first Playstation game I ever had and I remember the amazement I felt when I put the disc into my CD player and could listen to the game soundtrack.

Remember seeing Tekken1 back in day and was blown away by the graphics :D

I started Tekken at 2 (it was huge, everyone had it in Europe, T2 blew up the series) but I played T1 after and thought that on earth is this.

I started on Tekken 3. I remember the days of being 4 years old, and knowing only how to do Yoshimitsu's spin kick (neutral Left Kick). And then I discovered his doorknocker move and never used anything else until I actually figured out how to actually play fighting games

while the first Tekken has not aged well, it still holds a special place in my heart for being not only the first fighting game that got me into fighting games, but being the first arcade game I've ever played

I started with the original Tekken and Paul was the bane of my existence.

Tekken 2 was the first game I got on PS1. For whatever reason I saw Tekken (1) at toysrus a year later and asked to get it, it was on sale for like 15 bucks or something. I remember it feeling very clunky compared to Tekken 2 but I enjoyed seeing the different characters. Good memories.

Tekken 2 was the first one I ever played, via the "Interactive Sampler Disc" 3 for PS1, but Tekken 1 was the first one I ever owned. I'm glad it turned out that way, because even if Tekken 1 hasn't aged well, or doesn't hold much of a candle to 2, it was a fantastic game for it's time.

I still have my original copy, this is where it all started.

Tekken 3 was my first Tekken game. I don't remember much but I do remember playing it at my grandparents place when I was a kid.

Tekken 2 was the reason I got a psx, I was at Comp USA about to get a Sega Saturn but they had the demo disc with T2 on display, I'm glad I changed my mind. Been a Sony guy ever since

Tekken 2 is definitely my favorite entry in the series (I loved playing as Kazuya and Kunimitsu), It got me into playing the other Tekken games (Tekken 1, 3 ,4, Tag 1 and 2) it would be until few years after that I would start playing Tekken 5 and 6. I definitely can't wait to get my hands on Tekken 7 and finally see the final showdown between Kazuya and Heihachi.

Memories.. My dad bought me this and wipeout 1.. Along with a ps1.. He trained for 2 weeks, learning nina's throw move to fight me on xmas day.. This was a guy who has never played a game before.. knowing I played alot of SFII and MK1 on snes.. He beat me twice before I adapted.. Great guy, good times and I realise I'm his age then.. now ^^;;

I remember playing this game at 1 or 2 years old back in 94. The galaga tune is actually one of very first things I can remember ever because of this game lol. 😆

OMG at 26:43-26:49 Just imagining Kazuya, of all people, getting frustrated during the fight, jumping down at Lee, missing his punching and screaming "OH, YOU FUCK!!" is just amazing imagery to me

Started with tekken 1. Had so much fun with it.

The first game I EVER played on PS1 was this Tekken. I remember this game was brand new and my dad rented me the game and the PS at Blockbuster as a late birthday present (I miss those days). My cousin and I played it then we tried to beat it. Heihachi gave us so much trouble that we passed the control to my little brother who had been watching us the whole time. He beat Heihachi FIRST TRY! We were like no way we should've just let you play in the first place. Keep in mind my cousin and I were like 12 at the time, my brother was 7 and had never even touched the controller before then, much less played a match. This is a true story I put it on my fathers grave.

Loved Tekken from the beginning , had me at Marshall Law in Game Of Death suit.

I remember this being my first Tekken and then skipping to 3. I didn't play Tekken 2 until when Tekken 6 came out.

I think characters moon jumped in these old 3D fighters because the 2D fighters that were coming out at the time obviously had a lot of jumping in it and every character could jump pretty high so the moon jumps were probably a way to try and bring that over to 3D fighters and they quickly learned that it didn't work. That's just my guess.

Lee, Wang, and some other characters served as mid-bosses in Tekken 1. They were unlockable I remember in the console version.

Confirmed: Paul Phoenix top tier. Let's all see Tekken 1 at EVO and i want Max to compete against a paul player. xD

I vaguely remember trying out Tekken 1, 2, 3, and 4 at arcades years ago. I was never a Tekken fan. Though lately, I'm hoping we get a Tekken Tag 1 and Tekken Tag 2 on PS4 followed by a Tekken Tag 3 eventually.

Injustice 2 & Tekken 7 is all I need this summer the amount of content & online & beautiful graphics is beyond amazing & how fighting games should be done
