God, this has to be one of the biggest fighting game touchstones. Everyone I knew had it or spent all day at someone's house who did. Bryan, old Heihachi, Yoshimitsu's redesign, Eddie, I don't even know where to stop. This game was the fucking shit.

LaserfaceJones Same, until the sister of the friend fucked it up. It wasn't even theirs, it was their cousin's. I was forced to bring my uncle's Tekken 2 because of it, though I had some fond memories with that game, it was still a step down from Tekken 3. I got it for myself during 2001's Christmas.

So many feels reading this comment. On one hand because I remember that era and impact that Tekken 3 had, but I genuinely worry that no fighting game will ever break the same ground Tekken 3 did in terms of characters, atmosphere, soundtrack and presentation ever again. It does beg the question, are Namco just not what they used to be, or is there not much room left to move the genre forward the same way Tekken 3 did?

Fun fact, the form that Hwoarang is doing in the intro is a real Tae Kwon Do form called, oddly enough, Hwoarang.

Tekken 3's character animations are still top tier, even today. I didn't quite respect it back when it came out, but today, knowing how hard it is to balance a game's playability against its animation (Midway/NRS fighters have historically suffered from this), it truly is amazing how good Tekken 3 looks in motion over two decades later. Against contemporaries like Virtua Fighter and DOA, I felt like Namco fighters from Tekken 3 onward had much more realistic fighting animations and a more substantial sense of impact, all while remaining responsive and fun to play.

gamwpanagia​ before the operation dropped in CS, i was trying on SFV, but, it took too long to find matches, so, i just gave up.... uninstalled... waiting for Tekken 7 to hit Steam, now i'm only really playing CS, Tekken will be my second go to game P.S. i remember playing this game and Winning Eleven with my dad, and cousins, every sunday afternoon... childhood memories... :,)

So MANY childhood memories!! 😭😭 I had completely forgot about the Tekken Force mode. That “chicken” line definitely brought it back. This was my first Tekken game and it made me a fan of the series, as well as it being my preferred fighting game series. Nina was my top character to use while Jin was my first video game crush. I have no shame in saying that.

I still have in my room a Jin Kazama AF that my dad gave me as a present like 20 years ago with this game. God, the memories. This and Tekken 5 are my favs. Let's hope Tekken 7 will be extremely good as well.

YES!! Because of Tekken 3 I went to Taekwondo classes and practiced many martial arts since then... You see Hwoarang doing "Hwa-Rang Poomsae" to this great music you get shivers :D

I never did legit Taekwondo, but I imitated Hwoarang's kicks on a daily basis and recorded myself practicing them so that I could fix flaws; the flexibility and balance I gained from playfully imitating a video game legitimately served me pretty well in the other martial arts I ended up studying.

Agreed. It pretty much set the bar and to this day,T3 is still the best followed by T5 in my opinion.

I always felt so good playing a Tekken game with a Playstation controller, I dunno why.

The part when Paul used hammer of the gods on Max was more than i could ever hope to see happen on this channel

This game shaped my little 4-5 year old mind. I remember playing pretend tekken on the playground in kindergarten. I used to watch my dad play this game for hours

Tekken 3 is definitely the one I played the most. Of the PS1 ones

Oh, and you unlock Jin's school uniform by having a fuck ton of back to back wins with him in vs mode. Eventually, selecting him with triangle will put a yellow line under his name, meaning the school outfit is unlocked. Same goes for Xiaoyu's school uniform and Gun Jack's sleeveless look

I feel like 10 to 15 years from now, Tekken 7 is gonna be pretty highly regarded.

Jin's stage music (used in Tekken Force in this video) has to be one of the finest pieces of video game music ever.

I live for moments like this too. I love it when it happens to Max and the gang and I MISS when it would happen on the old super best friends... I miss them so much. T_T

The game that got me into this series, so many good memories playing this with my older brother, will miss Lei being in Tekken 7, was always a favourite character of mine but my dude Hwoarang is in the roster so i'm happy, can't wait to get back into this series!

Tekken 3 was fun as hell to play! I remember after beating Arcade Mode with all the characters and the secret characters, I played though Tekken Force to unlock the tiny boxing dinosaur, Gon and the scientist Dr. Bosconovitch. I had good memories playing that game! ^_^

Jin will always be my favorite. Hero, villain, neutral, I'll still love his fighting style. Will miss that spinning kick though.

Tekken 3 is my favorite and to me, has the best soundtrack in the entire series. Its also one of my favorite soundtracks in all of gaming. I can't wait to get my PS3 again and play the shit of this. I do prefer most of the PS1 soundtrack, but some of the arcade soundtracks make me happy.

This is why i love T3 and tekken in general. the combos seem so clean when their well executed.

if I remember, to get the school outfits for Jin and Ling... you had to play with them in versus mode a certain amount of times? like 25 or 50... something like that.

This is one of the games that comes to mind when I hear the term "arcade-perfect port", back when that was the apex of home gaming.

I grew up playing Tekken, so I know that this is the greatest game of all time on PlayStation.

Legendary falls short for this masterpiece...

I'm looking through all the comments and seeing how everyone holds strong nostalgia from Tekken 3. First time I ever played Tekken was around the Tekken 6 & TTT2 era. Can't even say I've known what Tekken was prior to that. I've been browsing through the old games and building up my Tekken 7 hype.
