Okay so I get her daughter being interested in tattooing, it’s what her mom does. But you don’t need to let an eleven year old scar other peoples skin….. you can give her drawing assignments. You can ask her to do the three elements and create her own drawing and stimulate her artistic muscle if you will. Those are ways you can support a literal child in achieving her dreams of one day becoming a tattoo artist Edit because people give the same point over and over again : no it would not be a good idea to give her fake skin, chicken, citrus fruit or any other replacement for live human skin to tattoo on. Why not? Because it’s still an ELEVEN year old handling needles. It is still a biohazard. There is still the possibility for her to accidentally stick herself with the needles. Don’t give tattoo machines to kids. It’s never a good idea. It’s not safe. Maybe when she’s 16 it’s a different story. But for right now, she can stick to drawings. I’ve seen one commenter who said something about a practice tattoo machine that’s not actually moving needles but something else? Ive never heard of those, but if it’s without needles that could be a perfect replacement for her to practice with.

@@airiellemcdeavitt most tattoo artists recommend against this as learning by yourself and not under the direct guidance of a licensed tattoo artist can give you improper practices that are harder to program out than the right practices would be to program in. Don’t be surprised if you go to apply for apprenticeships and get denied on this fact. It’ll take them more time to reteach you hence making you not worth the time. I’m just assuming your parents aren’t tattoo artists that is lol. Personally I recommend finding a shop and asking to overshadow them on the weekends/your free time. Every tattoo artist I’ve ever met pushes for their apprentice to just draw draw draw draw for quite awhile before they pick up a gun. Maybe I’m just old school (26) but I’d focus more on your art and less on the machinery. Learning to use the gun is such a small percentage of what’s needed compared to expanding your art skills.

You did a great job with this. My biggest criticism of her is that she preys on lower income people who think they can’t afford quality work. She accepts “donations” for tattoos but has very openly encouraged people to use their government assistance money to buy food and trade with her for tattoo work. That’s scummy because if those people got caught, they would lose assistance and children would literally go hungry. I also criticize that she accepts all of these donations and trades and I’m positive it’s all tax evasion because seeing how she operates, I’m sure she doesn’t claim the value and pay taxes on it. She’s bringing in thousands on bartered goods, groceries, cell phones, designer bags etc and little cash so she can claim she makes very little and not paying taxes. I love bartering but when doing it at the level she does… it needs to be taxed. Can she show receipts of donations to non-profit organizations? Is she a registered 503c? Is she checking that traded groceries we’re not purchased through state assistance programs like EBT/WIC? I very much doubt it.

@@MeidoGhoul I don’t understand how what I said is a hot take? People in poverty need that aid and she is encouraging them to commit fraud and possibly lose the assistance. Some of those people might not even realize that could happen. It’s the way the system is, regardless of what I think. We know the US loves to go after the poor more than anyone. Especially in a state like Texas. So I’m worried people will end up getting in trouble but she won’t care at that point because she got her payment. She claims she’s tattooing for Christ but preying on the poor and not caring about what damage it might potentially cause them is not very Christ-like. I just think people should be very aware of the risks of buying food with EBT and trading it for tattoo work. One wrong person gets that info and reports you and you lose it all. Even if I find it disgusting that it can happen. Not cool.

Lauren's comment about healthcare is so right. If you can't afford a tattoo, the bill for an infection will likely ruin you. I was visiting the states recently, I'm disabled so while my issue was minor for anyone else I had to go to the ER during my stay in California. I saw a doctor at triage for less than 10 mins and she prescribed treatment for me (a controlled substance I couldn't get anywhere else) I was in and out fast. So far the bill so being discharged has been $500, the bill for seeing a doctor for less than 10 mins is $570. Its all being sorted by my travel insurance so I don't know if anything more has been charged but imagine how much antibiotics and a 3 night stay would be! (That's how long I was in last year with cellulitis infection of my face, which is an infection that a new tattoo can also get).

Fairy liquid is bad enough, but Dawn?!? I recently bought (for 20 bloody £) an imported bottle of the blue Dawn (American) washing up liquid. It's such a powerful detergent, it kills fleas (my new kitten brought fleas into my home), and I use a tiny squirt of the Dawn soap in my machine washes along with my usual clothes detergent to ensure I'm *definitely* killing and getting rid of any, as well as to handwash fabrics that can't be washed at/above 40 degrees celsius. You can also set up flea-killing traps using just a bowl of water, Dawn, and a light. Dawn dish soap is SO strong it breaks through a flea's hard exoskeleton, and messes up water surface tension... so it kills fleas by breaking through their tough outer shell, and causing them to drown. ..........Now let's think about what that harder-than-skin-chewing and drying detergent would do to a fresh tattoo... It's absolutely *horrifying* 😱🤯

You should do a video on Anthony Zamora. He tattooed me whenever I was 17, meaning that I was a minor, and he pressured me to get a different color and placement than what I wanted for my tattoo and refused to do it unless I did what he wanted, he completely screwed up the design which is a very simple hatchet man with no details but the color ended up really scarred up and gross and the outline is missing spots due to blowouts and scarring, and the entire time that he was doing my tattoo he was sexually harassing my mom. He kept telling my mother that she needed to take her shirt off and either get nipple piercings or let him touch up her chest tattoo. He also slapped my tattoo whenever it was done and he covered it in regular Reynolds plastic wrap and told me to keep the plastic wrap on for over 24 hours which I question because at the time I was a piercing apprentice and I knew that that was NOT what you were supposed to do, but he screamed at me. So I agreed. I got a really bad infection from that tattoo, but I was really lucky because a couple months later my friend went back to 717 tattoo and got tattooed by him and he got hepatitis c. He swore he even saw one of the artist while he was getting tattooed pouring ink back in the bottles after a client was done. after that ink Masters flip Anthony Zamora go on the same season that I was set up to be a human canvas and I outright refused to go on because I didn't want to have to deal with him again. As a trans person myself, it’s true people accidentally slip up all the time. It’s usually not done intentionally, just a momentary brain lapse. But all it takes is a simple “she- sorry they, my bad” in the moment in this case, or a “hey sorry I messed up your pronouns, that’s on me”. The massive defensive rant doubling down on it is honestly why a lot of people don’t bother to correct misgendering in the moment because they don’t want to make a scene.

Seeing the child tattooing in that environment all I could think of was that tik tok where the artist caught themselves with the needle and went to the hospital to do everything correctly. It seems like they don’t take sanitary measures seriously so I really worry about that child, especially when they are left unsupervised like that. It’s one thing for her to endanger herself with unsafe practices but she is also endangering that child and not even keeping a close eye. Also it’s dead up child labour, the kid is doing her job for her and she is profiting off the child’s labour. It’s just unethical all around.

My artist has been tattooing me for 10 years, as well as other artists in his shop. I had an ovarian cyst removed but also had a tattoo (sleeve) appointment a week later (my surgeon approved me to get tattooed). Needless to say my mobility laying down and getting up sucked. In particular, tattooing is not a part-time job. For me, it ends up being more like 60 hours a week between shop hours, answering emails, and drawing "homework." I have zero time to spend learning how to pierce, let alone all the inventory upkeep and inquiries and stuff. This woman is a menace.

Honestly even going to big cities near me like Vancouver it's still difficult to find any. And these are not low rated or poorly run tattoo shops, I mean some are but the vast majority are beautiful buildings, well kept and talented artists. Are they not good to go to or maybe is it just about where you are and what not? Bc honestly I live in a smaller town and it makes sense to me to do both if you have the license to do so because if one day it happens that noone has booked or noone comes in your still able to offer piercings to the rest of the people who don't like tattoos. My area is basically all young families and retired couples so getting a piercing for your kid is a lot more common then a tattoo.

Once we got to the shop we were told they were closed and didn’t know why the website let us schedule tattoos at all. They then weren’t planning on refunding us for something that wasn’t even our fault. About a week later we were finally able to get in contact with one of the girls from her shop who ended up doing all of our tattoos for us. In my opinion I think when it comes to tats and anything that physically alters the aesthetic of the body (tattoos are salvageable and (for many times the price) is removable - it’s much more discomfort getting it fractionated off) you can judge the art absolutely how it looks. There’s no room for the artist’s “effort or passion” nah nah- *tattoos go onto people not paper* and no one should ever defend the artist while disregarding the one physically affected.

"She owns her own studio which is called Blindfold Tattoo..." So she is wearing a blindfold while tattooing judging by these pictures, right?... RIGHT???? (Cause if she is looking at the art while she is tattooing and is pleased then I don't know what to think anymore!)

Yup, I feel like if you can remember a client's name, you can remember their pronouns. Might slip up a couple of times but a respectful person wouldn't keep calling Sally a Susan on purpose or because they're just not interested in remembering 🙄

This artist, whatever their name is needs to be shut down forever. Allowing their 11 year old daughter to tattoo someone and then leave the shop. WTF is wrong with them. Rush tattooing is very dangerous. Them telling you to use Dawn dishsoap is dangerous as hell. I'm not even a tattoo artist, and I know that. I went into a tattoo shop to get a tattoo, and I happen to see someone without gloves. I walked out and never went back. Took me until 2021 to find an artist I could trust.

Duuuuuude, I'm sure that most people would be ok with pronoun slip ups, especially from people who they barely know, like I can literally call you by the entirely wrong name the first 5 times we meet, but any sane person follows up their mistake with an apology, what kind of numpty doubles down??

i’m kinda here for the concept of getting a tattoo blindfolded and the artist only has a few prompts from you. i’d just want a much better artist and much cleaner and safer environment for it 😂 best glitter style i’ve seen was laura anunnaki stuff. love her work. dream artist to get work from someday. btw, i loved your whole aesthetic! nails, hair, tats, makeup - you look so cool!!

As a tattoo neophyte who will be getting their first tattoo later this year, thank you so much for posting this. Now I know what to look for when I go looking for a reputable shop (though I'm probably going to get it done at the same place I got my daith piercings since they have a good reputation). This woman, though. Howwwww doesn't she stillll have a job? Wtffff. So many violations!

Thank you so much for summing it all up, it gets worse the longer you watch. I myself am now one year as a beginning tattoo artist, here in the netherlands we get chdck ups every year and they are very veryyy on top of everything, its just weird that she gets away with this all the tjme and people still love her tattoos. It makes me rethink all my work too. Because i barely get any clients. Im still at school and im trying, working and swesting my ass off to be a better srtist every day, and get noticed. Seeing this woman just get away with all of this makes me wanna cry.

I saw the misgendering video, Ariel asked their pronouns at the start of the appointment, and then just didn't use them at all. Maybe she was outrage farming because I don't understand why she even added the part where she asked their pronouns if she wasn't going to respect them???,
