I've used this a lot for weddings and portraits. Really reliable af, the semi macro is a great bonus and the rendering is really nice as well.

I’ve felt like a crazy person for how much I loved this lens and for how few other people seem to rave about it. I had this lens and I loved it- it was a FUN lens, super versatile, just heavy enough, just big enough, super duper close focusing, stabilized, and it also had oddly overly vibrant colors. I sold it along with a Sigma 24mm Art because my plan was to shrink my kit and put both my 24 and 35 needs into one lens (Sigma 24-35mm F2) which is also a fun lens, but I really seriously miss this little Tamron. The only reason I don’t go back to it is that I recently made the switch to RF, and I’m trying to avoid adapters at the moment. Hopefully canon’s RF 35mm F1.8 can offer the same fun and magic that Tamron offered in their 35 1.8 because it’s looking like that’s what one trying next.

i want a camera with a faster auto focus and great in low light and i'm happy. i take wonderful pictures but i have to ask you this question do you use auto focus or manual mode when you're taking your pictures? and since it's a full frame camera which lens do you use for your camera i like what i see i wanted the canon 6d but somebody said the mark 2 is the better one

hey the 85mm is for close up right and the 35mm is for wide shots and the 50mm is an all around lens and my wife told me she's going to buy me the 24-70mm and the 35-150mm that's all i need right

Have the 45 f1.8 VC & can say the VR/VC works very well plus the close focusing works great in a pinch when the macro isn't in bag. Question - Have you tested & how would you compare the f1.8 VC with the Tamron 35mm f1.4 (besides the VC)?

How noisy is the auto focus motor for video when using the camera's internal mic? Let's say I want to grab some quick footage of someone speaking who is constantly moving around? Thanks.

I honestly haven’t noticed much CA and shoot it wide open outside a lot

I have a similar lens, Canon 35 2.0 IS , and in video mode, lens has a clicky sound from autofocus. How about Tamron 35mm F/1.8 Di VC SP?

I am a d5600 user .... Can I use this Len's on my d5600 if yes please reply me!! Thank you 🙏

Love and it’s attached pretty much all of the time. Recently ran firmware update using the tap in console and it now works on our z6 as well 😃

is the tap in console difficult to use. I have looked at a few other reviews and it seems it not uncommon for the AF to be inconsistent.

Hi Mark, I found it extremely easy to set up, just need to download the software and you’re set, it’s worked seamlessly updating my 35/85 primes and my 70-200 all now work perfectly on my wife’s Z6. Honestly if I can do it anyone can!

Mark Shirley You may have to check though, if your Tamron lenses are the V1.0 firmware ones, you have to send them to a Tamron service centre for the update before you can use the TAP-in console. Once that is done, it works flawlessly with the console and my Z6! Autofocus is decent but not perfect with the z6 and tamron

Tan Wee Joe yes that is correct but so was my 35mm and Tamron have recently updated the firmware so I was able to do it myself myself.

Hi Taylor, thanks again for the objective review. I'm considering buying the Tamron SP 35mm F1.4 once I'm able to travel back to the U.S. BUT I see that this one is not stabilized like the F1.8 model. Since you shoot video as much as you do stills, would this be a deal breaker for you? (I.E., you would not upgrade to the F1.4?) Sincerely @chriserichorn

Yah. The main benefit for me is the VC so it wouldn’t be the lens for me. From what I’ve seen it’s a fantastic lens though if you don’t need the VC.

Does it bother you that it doesn't go down to 1.4?

I have it and it worked well with my D800 and D750. I’m just waiting for it to comeback from Amplis Photo (Tamron official distributor in Canada) for update. It needs the update so I could use it with my Z5. I can’t wait.

How well does it work with your Z5?

I have been using a d5600 since the end of last year but I only know the basics of photography (brief understanding of focal length, aperture, and ISO). So, how much better is this lense vs the nikkor 35mm 1.8 that is only a third of the price?? I do a lot of portrait photos for Instagram during the day and I am looking into possibly streaming/recording interviews as well. Thanks in advance

The tamron is a full frame lens, so there’s no point to get it for you I don’t think

close focus is awesome on my Nikon DX DSLR.

Here I am in 2022, trying to decide if I should buy this lens or the Tamron 35mm 1.4, which has no VC. You mentioned some natural vignetting, but I couldn't see it in your videos. It seems like the decision is between sharper/cleaner corners and VC. Have you any experience with the 1.4?

Hi! Thanks for the great review! This is slightly off topic, but would you by any chance know if this lens works well with the autofocus equipped Nikon analog cameras, like the F100, F5, F6 etc.? I've been looking for an alternative to the somewhat underwhelming Nikon 35mm AF-D F2 for a while, and this looks like a fantastic alternative... Appreciate any input. Cheers! :)

It'll work fine with the F100 and F5, I've got both and the Tamron 35 and 45 f1.8 VC are magnificent!

Have you used it on the Z-bodies with the FTZ adapter? Considering the Nikon 35mm s lens, but at the same time this lens is just getting so much good rep.

I haven’t used it with the FTZ actually. I would probably suggest the 35 S over it though. I love the 35 S

For me it just comes down to the Tamron having VC. That’s what wins it for me. That’s me as a video person too though

While I am NOT a fan of the 35mm focal point, I did have this lens and I freaking loved it...the only reason I got rid of it is that I was presented with the opportunity to snatch a 28mm f/1.8 G Nikkor at a freaking STEAL! Moves had to be made...

How good is it on the Z6ii

Tamron doesn't even make this lens anymore and the 1.4 version is bigger without VC. I'm glad I picked this up second hand when I did.

Connor Carr Photography I had a similar experience with the brand new 35mm 1.4. Focus was everywhere...front focused, back focused, sometimes in focus. 1/10 shots would be in focus...even at 2.8

I was about to ship this lens to Tamron to upgrade software, so it will autofocus on my Nikon Z5/Z6, and stumbled upon this video. This lens is well-built, sharp, with two killer features: image stabilization and macro. However, chromatic aberation is out of control; purple fringing everywhere under high contrast situations. Had to use software to remove purple.

When looking at the specs it easy to be hung on it and since its the newest we tend to expect it or believe it'll be better when in reality you do a blind test you probably cant tell the difference. sure you can pixel peep but do you really always pixel peep? does your clients do? they dont. what matters is how you use it and how you process your photos. stick with the cheaper option

I ordered this lens because of your review and some flickr research. I am not that satisfied with the bokeh of the native Z 35mm on my Z6 and this one looks hell of a lot better.

If Tamron made 28 or 24mm equivalent, combined with 45mm f/1.8 would be all you need for weddings.
