Keith, you might want to consider adding a couple more M-chassis to the collection. The M-04 and the M-07 R or M-08 are awesome. The M-04 is one of my favorites and I loaded mine with tamiya hop-ups basically making it an R version. With some 52mm foams, AVC receiver, and a sport tuned motor, it’s so much fun. I recommend adding the 3racing spur gear upgrade to the M-04 because stock its super slow. The M-07 R is also top notch and is so easy to drive.

I love the Tamiya M-chassis cars, they're awesome! So much fun to build and run, and they're pretty sturdy too, the gear diff in the M-05 is pretty much bulletproof. I bought a 2nd-hand M-05 almost 2 years ago, it had a few hop-ups with it including TRF dampers. I stripped it down and rebuilt it, replacing the JIS screws with hex-head screws, and I had to swap out a few parts due to the plastic being stripped by over-tightening screws. I only ran the M-05 in a local car park, but by god it was so much fun. Early last year O got an M-07, and that cars was possibly the most fun car I have ever driven. I actually raced it at my local club, I was up against full 1/10th touring cars, and I held my own, and I even won the odd race here and there. I did upgrade the spur gear, and at one point I ran a 13.5 turn brushless setup in the car, it was insanely quick, probably too quick to be honest! If I remember correctly the odd-numbered M-chassis' were FWD and the even-numbered ones were RWD, apart from the TA05 M-four and the MF-01X, which are 4WD. Awesome video, keep 'em coming mate!!

The reason the rear axle stubs aren't put in until later, is so they don't fall out while you work on the car, or they'd have to put in an extra step where you lock down the axle stubs into the hub with something like a body clip etc. Generally its good to just follow tamiyas instructions, and see if it made sense in the end, which it usually does. I think the M-chassis cars are usually quite short on space at the rear, some bodies are really short, with minimal overhang, so bumpers at the rear are often not a thing. If race cars can be without rear bumpers, I'm pretty sure a slow M05 can too ;D I think its more a case that some cars use the rear bumper as structural rigidity (tt01/tt02) that people get used to having rear bumpers. Looked like a fun build, even with some of perceived oddities. ;D Should make for a nice little drive before you do the switchup. I guess if you wanted correct realism, you'd want to mount a tamiya Golf mk2 rally body on the M-four as its four wheel drive, not sure if the M-four stretches to 239mm wheelbase tho. ;D
