40 minutes in before I started to think that, Y'know? this might look ok. lmao.. Its a tough paint job For sure. and I think the hardest part is that last step .. ripping that plastic off and it is finally revealed!! Looks great, Keith. Very Nice Work!! You did an amazing job on it. :)

That's a cool little car. It turned out great. It's funny, been such a little body, but so much work. 👍 Before i watched this video, i was watching a video where the guy painted a whole body and also used liquid mask. So, the first second i saw your body in pink, i noticed it was too thin. Glad you said it yourself and hey, it's with making such 'mishaps' that you learn for the next time. That's also part of the hobby. At the end it's the result and satisfaction that count.

It looks great and that was a heck of a hard paint job to do. I can see why folks get stalled out working on it and avoid painting it. I have never had to one that involved with lining up colors on the clear and hard parts like that. I think you did a great job with it and gave a lot of good tip to those dragging their feet on paint theirs! I have never used the liquid mask myself, I need to get some and give it a try. I know some folkd have gotten the super cheap trim spray gun from harbor freight to spray it with instead of painting it on. Looking forward to the next adventure!

Hey Keith Awesome job on this one. When I did my Renault 5 M05RA I upgraded the rear arms to fit the shell with parts from the TL-01 chassis which look great 👍🏻

Always thought that car was a horrible sticker job. But apparently its a massive paintjob instead LOL. I think you really nailed it, the liquid mask is perfect for that kind of paintjob. And even slightly wobbly lines will just disappear once you slap on some stickers and other details. Deffo with all those hard plastic parts, thats a shlefer, perhaps some careful driving. :D

This gives me hope 😂 this one is on my project list too. Great job Keith. I have never used liquid mask, i had the same thoughts, liquid mask is probably the way to go. If mine turns out as good i probably won't drive it with this body, ill get a second one and paint it a solid color. Great video!

In other words a set of marks at the front and another set of line at the back then using ur ruler connect the dot by drawing a line from front to back then following that line with ur tape. If any of my 2 comments make sense😂😂 either way. Super cool car and paint job.and I think ur right the back wheels need to be jammed out to fill up the wheel arches

All correct. At least that is how I did it. I used a set of mst gold mesh wheels that have 3 different offsets. They worked perfect to fill that arch.

Hi, you did a great job 👍That said, I have that car/body and I will for sure use the tape. I would never trust my hands to cut these long straight lines with a razor (even if I'm almost not shaking at 50+🤞). Can't wait to see the Renault 🤩

That looked like a real challenge. Perseverance, patience and persistence paid off in the end, looks excellent. I think I would do with masking, that liquid mask looks like an extra headache along with cutting it etc 😩

It actually works better then tape in my opinion. Just a learning curve to using it correctly.

Looks great! My experience painting that body ended up not going perfectly proportional with the colors. It did turn out well. I have seen it in purple ,or dark blue to light blue or aqua and white. I may try that one day. Also found some 1/12 scale wheels in mesh to make it look like the racer it was. Thx

Yes it looks great and it took me eleven days to do mine while using masking tape. And I get did get Oil shocks for it. I think the bigest Let down is that you don´t get window masks and the ABS grill. Maybe the whole body in Lexan would have been the better way but the result is awesome.

I would for sure just use masking tape the lines will be so much sharper and with an airbrush you dont really get bleeding because the paint is so fine but still looks good

It's the application of the liquid mask. Before i watched this video, i saw a video from someone who did a whole body. His liquid mask was applied fairly thick and the you should've seen the result. It's all a matter of learning to use this stuff the right way.

When u made ur lines for the stripes on top of the car at the grill and at the back. I thought u was going to use ur bendable ruler to connect the dots and draw a line from front to back instead of trying to use the tape to make ur straight line and let ur ruler do it

I ended up making 4 sets of marks keeping the leftover space on the sides equal. Top front and back. Hood front and back. Then either tape or ruler to connect the dots with a pen. That way the stripes stay the same width all the way through.

I think this should have been a pre painted shell. There's no way unless your a professional painter that it's going to come out right. I sent mine away to be done and even this so called painter completely messed it up. Good effort tho mate. 👍

I would for sure just use masking tape the lines will be so much sharper and with an airbrush you dont really get bleeding because the paint is so fine but still looks good

It's the application of the liquid mask. Before i watched this video, i saw a video from someone who did a whole body. His liquid mask was applied fairly thick and the you should've seen the result. It's all a matter of learning to use this stuff the right way.

Your approach to establishing body lines suggests that you have experience in setting up markings at a job site prior to and/or during excavation. Just a guess

When u made ur lines for the stripes on top of the car at the grill and at the back. I thought u was going to use ur bendable ruler to connect the dots and draw a line from front to back instead of trying to use the tape to make ur straight line and let ur ruler do it

I ended up making 4 sets of marks keeping the leftover space on the sides equal. Top front and back. Hood front and back. Then either tape or ruler to connect the dots with a pen. That way the stripes stay the same width all the way through.
I think this should have been a pre painted shell. There's no way unless your a professional painter that it's going to come out right. I sent mine away to be done and even this so called painter completely messed it up. Good effort tho mate. 👍

Thank you. I totally agree. Easy chassis for a beginner and then the hardest body ever to paint.
