At beginning gigy first turns to ruby and says "look it's uncle Arroz" , then gives all of us a big smile!! Love you gigy

Absolutely loved this visit!!!! So great to get to see the boys as well as the babies, youngsters and moms. A complete day. :-) Thank you so much Arroz for all you do! I have to admit I wish you had a crew of helpers I could watch for hours everyday....lol

Super cute, but that was a grimace, not a smile. She was probably uncertain about her reflection in the lens. Why do they have to be so cute when they get scared? There’s something so adorable about that expression even though it makes me feel bad when it’s actual true fear.

Ah, the sounds of weaning season has begun with the geckers and pleading. I get excited about weaning, as I love to see what ideas the babies drum up to persuade Mom to allow a sip. Dopey still holds the crown for most interesting tactics to date.

Yea, like all sally's kids. You can tell all those girls are sisters but they seem to have taken after their father's genes. I wonder if it was Taggy or Grandee or a stranger. But like Reddy's daughter doesn't look anything like her. Same with Gypsy's daughter that had Kolby. She looks more like a fuzzy faced teddy bear where Gypsy's face is completely free of fur.

They still amazes me with all their , monkey laws rules and procedures. They have rituals and hierarchy is just amazing. I never knew the depth of any this till I found this channel. Thank you AM for the education.

That’s probably a fear grimace, not a smile. When baby monkeys smile they open their mouths wider. I’m guessing the grimace was just a moment of nervousness seeing her reflection in the lens. Either way it was adorable and I don’t want to be a party pooper, it’s just that humans thinking monkeys are smiling when they’re actually terrified has real consequences for monkeys. In this case I could be wrong, though! It was very subtle.

Just a few short weeks ago, these mums wouldn’t let anyone near their babies. Now they’re more than happy to share the responsibility. Mums are tired! And I keep thinking the 2022 babies will start appearing in real life very soon! Which mums will skip? Which girls will be first time mums? How will 2021 babies accept their new status after their siblings come along? So much anticipation. Thank you again, AM!

Dopey is growing more and more into a smaller version of Taggy. So good to see him and the others of our boys doing well in Skull Heads troop. And I am glad that Spocky made it into Nullah troop. He will do well there.

It’s possible to injure them but these moms and babysitters know how to grab them without hurting them. It’s their patience I admire most. They really active babies would soon wear me out!

Hi gang, I just got back from a cruise to Mexico and got 2 bucket list things checked off. I figured if anyone y'all would appreciate it. I got to see and climb Mayan ruins AND see monkeys! On top of that there was a momma and baby spider monkey! I mean, they're not our rhesus macaques, but still! I could have touched them! Absolutely amazing!!

Yes, I have seen it with Chrissy and a few others. It isn't that uncommon. If the baby is trusting of the female, it will suckle. Watch this video from the Vervet Monkey Foundation kzread.info/dash/bejne/oWmptKVyn8qYlZs.html. They do an awesome job at fostering baby monkeys back into a troupe with a foster mom.

Luckily some groups of feral cats where I live have dedicated people who feed them. I could never standby or walk away from a hungry animal without feeding it……unless I was what the animal wanted to eat 😬

I’m surprise Kristy let’s Koby suckle like she does, baby brother or not. She has either had her own baby or koby has suckle those nipples a lot. Half the time they refuse their own babies suckling so it’s unusual to actually see a female just allowing another baby to suckle. Maybe she realizes it keeps him calmer so it’s worth it 😂 A.M. it’s really nice to hear some info and background on the feeder. 20 years this person has been feeding these animals. That’s awesome in my opinion and shows true love towards these monkeys ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Weaning is never fun but everyone in our gang is pretty helpful to one another without squabbles or pettiness. (Unlike humans) It really shows that it does take a Village to raise children ❤️! I always feel so sad for Koby, although he is so lucky to have such a great sister as Krissy who genuinely cares for him! I just wish Gypsy was more motherly!🤷

It would be interesting to see if the family dynamic as well as mother's attention and teaching an infant made for less or more difficulty for a baby when it came time to wean off of their mother. You actually touched on some of the antidotal knowledge we have come across while monitoring and observing lower primates in sanctuary situations. Basically what it seems to be is just how the mother approaches the teaching of what is edible and not, and the fair sharing or not of any foods. We have seen mothers who are very aware that the milk they are making equals the food they consume, and to a point will even take foods that baby has put in a pouch out of the infants mouth and consume it themselves, as if to say, if you want a full stomach of milk then I need to food. Of these babies, most have a great difficulty when mom starts weaning, as they really only have know a full stomach from nursing not from solids as they are often blocked from that experience by their mothers need to have food for milk production. Now and then a precocious baby that becomes independent early on, and has been off scavenging and eating solids, and learned early not to come back to mom with full pouches will be partially weaned by themselves, but any that are more dependent on a mom that is not sharing food or doing a good job or teaching the baby to scavenge and fill up on solids is at a total loss as to what to do when mom starts saying no to the milk bar. Then there are the mom's that even at a young age make sure that the are dropping small bits of food to interest baby and also engage them in scavenging activities and give them as much freedom as they can while still keeping them safe, and these babies seem to accept weaning without too much difficulty. Of course there is always an exception in every case, a baby that's extremely independent, or one that is very clingy and seriously sees nursing a a comfort even more than food. We have noticed over the years that the mom's that have infants that wean without too much tribulation are those raised by moms that teach and share with their infants for the most part.

I dropped my long lens on the concrete in camp on the Massai Mara and thank goodness I had a filter. The filter cracked but the lens did not and I got a new filter in Nairobi when we returned. I very much enjoyed your visit as much as I did seeing The Dopster and his brothers and buddies, just wish Spocky was with them but he seems to be happy in another batchelor troop

I find it quite funny how the babies rub up against somebody like a cat would if it's happy to see you but it's done with a twist then they walk over you with their back legs lol. It's interesting to watch them switch babies while they're weaning so that the babies don't want a nurse smart idea wish I would have thought of that when I had my babies lol. 🥰🐒🐒 That one Park you mentioned that one of the babies didn't have a babysitter and was languishing on its own. Well I don't think babies can language because they don't even notice if they're being babysat, have friends around, mother's paying attention (well this one sometimes LOL) all because they have the power of play lol. I'm now 52 years old I don't play I'm lucky if I walk across the room lol. JK 😂🤣
