    The swag adapter really makes this bender so much more user friendly. The best benefit, as you mentioned is having a setup that doesn’t need to be bolted to the floor. Really handy since you want a lot of room around your bender and you don’t want it bolted to the center of the garage. Lol. The return spring is a great addition.

    Great Video!! Need a measurement PLEASE. I plan to fabricate a JD2 Model 3 bender to use with JD2 dies and need to know the benders arm spacing. I found good drawings for the hole size, location and spacing on line but have not been able to determine the distance between the bender arms. In other words, how long is the 1" OD spacer in the die follower mounting arms? The spacer that the ratchet bar mounts on. Thanks!!

    Best video on the Air/Hydraulic conversion yet. I just bought this exact same set up. Only thing you did not explain is how much of a pain in the butt it is to push the ram back manually. Buy the Swag elastic spring kit it is worth the $50 Thanks.

    I could be wrong a friend of my built a 90* square frame with a mount plate and gusset. Mounted the tube bender and the frame plugs into the receiver of his truck your not bolting or moving that vehicle. We live in Az so weather is almost always compliant.

    What is the size of your mount plate on your stand? Are the holes centered on the plate?

  • @boomstickkid
    @boomstickkid2 жыл бұрын

    How big did you make your base plate for your stand? Mines currently only 12x12 but that’s cuz it was mounted to the floor. I was thinking 24x24 but should I make it bigger, I don’t want it to be too tippy when loading tubing.

    The JD2 manual says to torque the bolt for the handle (that you have to remove for the ram mount) to around 71 ft/lbs (IIRC). I added my Tam mount and torqued to factory spec and it seems far too tight. it doesn't allow the ram mount to swivel and the ram extends. Dis you run into this? Are you torqued to spec? Did you just hand tighten?

    Were you welding with your hh140? What's the thickness on the swag brackets?

  • @bleepinjeep

    @bleepinjeep

    9 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, sure was. The swag ram mount is 1/4" thick. Thit was definitely the limit of single pass welding with that machine. I wasn't able to burn the welds in as hot as I would have liked with my hh140 but it welded it strong enough that I'm not worried about it coming apart. Works for me! - Tim

  • @sjeverett75

    @sjeverett75

    so would you just spend the 700+ to get the hydrolic version in the first place? This method still comes out cheaper and you don't have to do it all at once.

  • @mitchdenner9743

    @mitchdenner9743

    6 жыл бұрын

    sjeverett75 it's actually eight hundred bucks for the hydraulic version and it only gives you hydraulic piston with it you still have to buy Power supply hydraulic pump 900 bucks for the electric pump or 500 for the air over hydraulic so you're looking at 1200 minimum and 1600 maximum and you still have to buy dies
