Just bought a 2018 Burgman 400. After watching this oil change video for 2017 to current 400’s I clicked on your Amazon link to buy an oil filter and it showed filters fitting 2007 to 2016 only.

Great video as always Mitch - well shot and well explained. Just to say that the Burgman's oil level should be measured upright and off the centre stand. I made this mistake (despite it saying so very clearly in the manual - d'oh!) when I first purchased my Burgman. The oil level while on the centre stand shows a higher reading than that off the centre stand, meaning you could potentially be running with too little oil. Probably not enough to do any damage I realise, but worth being aware of :)

I like how you tighten the bolts to the specific torque ratings. Not all bikeshops do that. =)

Great video, just to be safe however, the oil Drain bolt tightening torque is 23nm, not the 12nm stated.

Have you always used the R5000 10w40 mineral engine oil vs synthetic engine oil?

Mitch, the oil you recommend is MA type, for wet clutch motorcycles. It has additives to prevent clutch from slipping. Oil for scooters is MB type, without those extra additives, scooters don't have wet clutch. MB oil is more "slippery" than MA oil, which is beneficial for scooters, because they run on very high RPM most of the time, and MA oil isn't the best in this case.

Three Q’s. 1) Is it really needed to remove the “gallery plug”? The manual doesn’t say to touch it. 2) Where do you find a torque wrench that goes as low as 2.3ft-lb? I can’t find one anywhere. Lowest is 5ft-lb that I have found. - my manual doesn’t give torque value on these at all. 3) manual for 2019 says drain bolt torque is 16.5ft-lb torque, not 17. So is this video “to current” good for 2019? Could your filter cover bolts really be different from my model too? Thanks so much.
