Strength Training for High School Volleyball Athletes | 4 Exercise Workout

One of the major problems in youth volleyball is the amount volleyball athletes play relative to how to how much strength training they do. Volleyball is a high impact sport and if you are weak you are at much higher risk to get injured and also your performance will suffer.
With the help of AU Academy Founders and aspiring beach volleyball olympians Alex Poletto and Sophie Bukovec we have assembled an amazing 4 exercise strength focused workout that is intended for the High School aged athlete.
This is a minimal equipment workout using only a bench/box and a resistance band. I also give you regressions and progressions to the exercises so that athletes at all levels on the team can be appropriately challenged.
4 Exercise Workout
1. Single Leg Squat off a Box/Bench- 6 reps
2. Pushup Variation- 8 to 12 reps
3. Hip Thrust Variation- 8 to 10 reps
4. Half Kneeling Band Resisted Row- 15 reps

    Very good! Just as you said, we need to emphasize fundamental strength and stability before adding tons of high-impact reps. There are so many kids playing volleyball right now, which is great, but we need to teach athletes to put in time doing thoughtful strength and mobility work. Keep sharing this message!

    Great content. What's your opinion on programing vertical versus horizontal push/pull movements for volleyball players? It seems intuitive for vertical push and pull to have priority for them (more specific), however horizontal pushing (especially) is more common. Is bigger strength output (weight)/more muscle being used for push-ups/bench the reason?

    my pushups is good but my serves and my spikes are weak how do i fix that lol

    @@mvnyx7528 Thank you just ran my daughter and her teammate through this workout (3 sets) Added jump squats immediately after the single leg box squats as a super set and ab work at the end. They really enjoyed it. Thanks🙏🏼
