A story of true friendship. What Ken did to try and get help for Ed, was nothing short of greatness. Accidents like these are rare and not easy to deal with. RIP Ed Cohen.

i held my cry the whole time.... til the end when he started talking about Eds girls and gave them all a kiss .. rip Ed. I hope Ken lives happy, safe and on land lol
This was so heartbreaking, I am so sad for their loss of Ed...
A story of honor to a friend beyond description
ED God bless you and your family you had one hell of fishing partner lost but never forgot in God with God 🙏
Up until the very final moment of the program, I had remained unflinchingly convinced that at any moment, Ed was going to appear seated beside Ken describing the horrific ordeal he experienced while waiting for Ken to return with help. In fact, even when Ken had gone down to the morgue to visit his deceased buddy, I had wholeheartedly expected to see Ed blink his eyes and come to as if his death had somehow been determined by mistake. I had prayed so hard throughout the entire program that Ed had ultimately pulled through, but alas, my prayers couldn't undo what had already transpired. I could sense the immense pain and grief Ken still bears for his departed best friend, and I would be lying if I tried to act as though Ed's passing doesn't pain me on a deeply profound level. It's so rare, it seems, to witness bonds of friendship as powerful and genuine and eternal as their's. I am truly grateful for having been blessed with many great friends throughout my life in addition to my best friend of 40 years who, moat tragically, lost her life to violence two years ago. My heart goes out to Ed's family and loved ones

Watching these two best friends adrift stranded at sea it took a shipwreck to part them Ken by God's grace found sanctuary on the Oil rig 55 miles from the Capsized vessel without any a pinpoint location on Ed it wasn't to be a joyful moment in the end I found myself saying let Ed be ok as I watched this documentary God bless Ed.

@user-mk4or5yu9rI agree with you that this story doesn’t make any sense. But perhaps there’s other factors that we’re not being told about. Let’s just say, that I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve been drinking. That would explain their poor decision making and why the boat sank in the first place. But I’m only guessing I could be wrong.

It doesnt make sense that Ed didnt want to swim back to the deserted rig once they sank, specially because they were close and it was still daylight. Why would he want to wait for the night to come, while floating in the ocean, instead of swimming to the deserted rig that was not that far?

It doesn’t always happen as planned during emergency panic.
This one brought tears to my eyes.
I have learned that safety gear needs to be accessible in seconds. Unbelievable how these guys didn't gather things as even a few seconds is ample time to do so. I have been in this situation but was able pump out the sinking vessel in time. Ending up in the water with nothing is beyond foolish. Sorry for your loss, terrible thing.
Please keep posting some more documents like this 😭😭
RIP Ed. Semper Fi
I hope an investigation was done into that boat to find out why it sank so quickly.

Could have installed expandable foam in tge hull cavities so the boat is unsinkable. Also should of had a emergency raft. These days you are crazy not to have a PLB and soon a phone that can emergency ring/text through starlink.

All that 30 foot cash and NO lifeboat skiff or kayaks! Tragic
A boat taking on water can expel it by gunning the motor. Obviously it’s what they thought to do. It’s happened to me a couple times when a boat plug was forgotten to be put in. Something was terribly wrong with this inspected boat to not respond and motors die.

They should have had their life jackets on with flares attached ,before the boat went down.but its easy for me to say that watching this from comfort of my sofa but hopefully others can learn from this.
I was in the Navy back in the early 90s and I traveled halfway around the world twice. It was the same half. But I was on a carrier and not once was I ever worried about sinking not one time did I even ever think about it. I was worried about plane crashes but not sinking.
I tink that the first ting they should have done is to look to see where’s the water coming from, i am a sea man and that happened to me before on a bigger boat than that one, Firts we found where the water was coming from then i took off my shirt jumped overboard dive to hole where the water was entering and plug it with the shirt after my friend give me a screw driver and i stuck the shirt deeper in the hold then we returned to port in the Bahamas 🇧🇸 Its amazing how small tings and quick tinking can save lives.
Why no extra boat that air boat for emergency's

@@blackvelvet1350My comment wasn't mocking, it was asking a question about a bad decision that led to loss of life. Acknowledging & answering the question as to how it happened is crucial to prevent more loss. This event shows that even pros can ignore rules and that can go very wrong.
