I think he didn’t need to act like he was fine, just level with his son and tell him the truth: that he’s hurt and in pain, and pray together for help. Then at dawn, send his son for help.

After watching several WONDER docs, I am puzzled to see that so many people don't carry their cell phones or weapons with them. I carry both just going to Walmart. These people are out deep into the woods, walking deep into the Grand Canyons, out on international waters, etc. I just don't understand how people don't pack for the worse case scenario. But such a heroic daddy and son.👍🏽❤

He should have stayed on the gravel road/path to the lake. He also knew they had told the guy to come looking for them in 2 days if they weren't back by then. Why did he send his son out into the wild where there are bears? He should have stayed put at the place they found. Got lots of wood to start a signal fire when the people came to look for them.

If the kid wants to get to adulthood and follow that path then that's their choice, but to demand that your child follows your religion is lazy and more than a little disingenuous. All that aside, they seem like nice people and I'm glad their love and tenacity got them through.

I apparently took her by her hand and walked her back to the porch. I had her sit down and told her not to cry cause I was fine. I refused the ambulance ride cause I had a headache and waited for my dad to rush home from work to take me to hospital. Can I get a medal?

I mean, he was close, if that ATV hit him in a different way or in a different spot, he could be life-threateningly injured to instantly crushed to death. That situation was absolutely a life threatening one, he just lucked out and was hit in nonvital locations, which ultimately does make this story less of a survival story since the stakes were not as high as most the others were. But to say not even close... it was pretty damn close to being on the brink of death if one thing had gone differently! I understand tho you probably meant his current state based on how it did hit him rather than how it could have hit him.

I'm sure the kid was scared but- I know 10 year old kids that drive so, they can do way more than we give them credit for. I have a friend whos 10 year old daughter drives the truck around on the farm- she moves hay around for him, drives the truck and trailer while he loads it, etc. I've seen her back a 16 foot flat bed trailer into the barn without issue- using nothing but her side mirrors. I'd trust Leeann to go get help without question, and I don't think she would be intimidated by it- I think she'd be worried and scared about me or her dad being hurt but, not scared of going to get help.
