Since Nelson doesn't call every third game a "must watch most amazing game I've ever seen" game, you KNOW it's going to be good when he says it. Wasn't clickbait. Wasn't lying. Amazing game!

The kind of class Vishy displays at age of 53 still gets me
The best thing was they were both smiling and enjoy the moment. It is beautiful how much they love this game and just do it to find this beauty out of it. It doesn't matter who won.
Wow, just incredible. This would’ve been an amazing endgame anyway, but the fact this happened in so little time just makes it 10 times more ridiculous. It’s almost like watching two computers play. Definitely one for the ages!

My wife was in labor but stopped pushing so we can watch this video as per your instructions.
You missed the best line at 5:40! If black plays Kc2 white plays Qd3+! Regardless of whether the king or pawn captures the queen, the other one will cover b3 to ensure stalemate.
@mythbusters866

White can play also Qc3+ Kd1 Qe1+ Kc2 Qc3+ draw
How these 2 greats can think so strategically at the pace they did is nothing short of amazing.
Hey Nelson, I'm sure you're probably aware...but there's a short, loud snap sound that I hear on your videos lately...not frequently, but every now and again. No clue what it is, just wanted to let ya know. This video has one at the 0:46 mark.

Amazing game between two legends. I always struggle with even catching stalemate traps but this is next next level stuff.
That title wasn't clickbait, this was a must-watch.
Next time you should tell us in what position Anand resigned But thanks for sharing this great endgame. Truly incredible, very much composition level stuff
We saw this live that in this position , vishy and Magnus they both were laughing and playing 😁😍😍❤
Grandmasters are on a totally different level and what an amazing end game these guys brought to life.
When Nelson says a game is amazing it ain't no clickbait❤
But you didn't show how Vishy could have saved the game after Magnus played Be4!
@kksrinivas54

I think Qh4 with the idea Qf2+ or Qh2+ to keep checking the black king. Note that the same stalemate traps work in some follow up lines in case black tries to promote to a Queen! Btw Qa5+ leads to c3 blocking, and black wins!
You are the best analyser of chess here on KZread in my opinion
Wow 😮 I just ❤ the way you break these down. You just made my day a whole lot better thanks.😊
Wow!! This was amazing! Love this recap! Tysm!!
Absolutely brilliant by the 2 Titans...
these are the kind of moves that would take me minutes to HOURS to find down here in patzer prison. the fact that they are machine gunning them in seconds is whats most impressive about this gameplay.
I hate the eval bar sometimes. To have that ingenious knight sacrifice slapped with a blunder (because it fails after about 10 moves of brilliant play) takes some of the magic and wonder out of the game.
@lewiscook3918

Thanks for the video. Best explanation of the position on yt. Love your enthusiasm. The joy of wonder is a great thing.
I knew it was going to be a knight but I was surprised how long it took to get there. That’s why he’s Magnus Carlsen and I’m not.
That is such an incredibly stressful and tense game!
What a great brain exercise! Great game - great analysis too. Well worth watching!
Amazing endgame! Thanks for sharing it ❤
Wow... absolutely crazy... as a 1400 level player I did not see what they see. Particularly when low on time seeing the stalemate traps is just amazing.
Seeing this live just left my jaw hanging. Something ill always remember, truly one of the greatest endings.
This reminds me of an ending from a blitz game of my own from, I think, 1988. It wasn't quite as spectacular as this, with its underpromotion subtheme, but it was still quite striking. My opponent was an Afghani carpenter named Faroukh, who always gave me highwire acts by way of games. I only wish I could reconstruct the actual position, but all I can offer 35 years later is a general description. Faroukh was a pawn down, but he had a passed pawn which he pushed to a threatening advanced square. In the process, he left a knight en prise -- in fact, I could take it free, _with check_. And lose. If I took the gift horse, he'd move out of check and onto a square where he'd be able to escort his pawn to its queening square, and even with the extra knight, I would have been helpless. Instead of winning a knight, I had to swallow my pride and begin maneuvering my own knight into a position to stop the pawn. He pushed the advanced passed pawn, and two moves later, instead of winning a knight with check, I was meekly sacrificing my own knight to stop that pawn. Now the smoke seemed to clear. I had two extra pawns, but I was a knight down. And winning. I pushed one of my pawns, and it was Faroukh's turn to start desperately racing to get in position to sac his own knight to stop me queening it. He did it just in time, but that knight had been living on borrowed time anyway! And now, after all the fireworks, we were back where we started, with me a pawn up. But now there was no counterplay, and the excitement was over. The extra pawn, in due time, won for me what was now a pedestrian king-and-pawn finish, and a few moves on, Faroukh resigned.
this would've been a good surprise puzzle for the chess adventure series
Thats the thing about chess its like guitar.the game goes so deep
Incredible performance by both players ♟🐏
My stupid brain would never come up with that .. getting the knight instead of queen was something i could never think
Wow ….. truly amazing chess played by both Vishy Anand and Magnus Carlsen, one of the best endgame of all time, thanks for sharing

@Chess Vibes The position at 6:51, what move should white have played instead of queen to d4?
This is an excellent Chess channel. Thank you for the content.
Wait! What was the best move for white instead of Qd4?
Can Magnus checkmate with a knight and a bishop and only 16 seconds left on the clock? (he needs to force the king in one of the white corners)
man you were not hyperbolizing one bit, and great job explaining and going through the game. really enjoyed this one!
5:22 “how does white save the game”. White doesn’t have any move to save the game. Just a move that draws the game.
Just looking at the summary at 9:05 of ur breakdown. Instead the white king move 3A, if it move 2B? If the pawn moves 4-C, the queen would capture it and put the black king in CHECK, or and if doesn't move the pawn, then white queen would move to again 3-C to check again, putting the 4C pawn, 3D Bishop or 1C knight to be captured
Stunning, all the more so given the clock!
Wow this is a fantastic game. Thanks as always Nelson for an excellent analysis of this game. Brilliant!
2:08 why does the bishop move back, not push the pawn directly?
What IS truly remarkable is that both of them only had seconds left on the clock, and yet they saw these moves!
Not sure why I’m watching this as I played chess as a child 40 years ago but hey it’s always encouraging to know there are people this smart out there!

It looks like he would still go to e3 for the stalemate if the promotion was a queen, and the knight promotion would lead to taking the h6 pawn one move sooner, which I think might be winning for white.

Perfect with my coffee this morning Nelson. Thx man!!
Wow. Simply amazing.
AI evaluation spoils all the suspense. 😂
We need to explain to man what and why changes from move to move, however the computer assessment with column on the left changes without explanations!
I am aware it may appear as i have no skills in chess and definitely no expert as they are but after watching this video an intriguing question arose. After pawn b5 why didn't Vishy just create a fork with his knight so he could have sacrificed his knight eliminating the bishop complication and then just continue advancing his pawn. Wouldn't that have been more reasonable? Can anyone answer? I'm curious
Wow, thanks for sharing.
My ELO is like 200 but I'm so happy I saw the knight promotion only about 100x slower than the champs.
Was it mentioned anywhere that Magnus needed this win for team points. So Vishy really won with a draw or stalemate.. Incredible.
@haroldcruz8550
10 ай бұрын
I believe that's why Magnus chose the French Opening, yes it does most of the time put you on problematic positions but it also gives you a chance to get a win. Magnus decided that it's worth the gamble since a draw would be kind of a win for Vishy
An underpromoted knight beats two promoted queens. Just amazing.
@6:50 What is the best move?
6:20 Qd7+ instead of Qd8+? After the King moves to e2, white’s queen can check at e6, and after the bishops interposes at e4, white still has checks on diagonal.
It’s these type of games that show there is luck in chess. Neither player could have made moves with all of this in mind.

What is the best move for white after Bishop to d3?
Good commentary, thanks.

Wow. Stunning vision from these Grand Masters. And with
Incredible they calculate moves so fast
Imagine having your game set to always promote to queen in your settings in this game.
Wow this was incredible
8:55 how to draw instead of Qd4?
Beautiful game
Mate in 22 is not the thing what i want to see playing against stockfish....
Human: Incredible endgame Stockfish: blunder, mistake, blunder
5:22 is wrong btw. u can save ur bishops while not being in check and still have a queen. noone in their right mind would jump the gun and just get a queen while ur bishop is clearly in a pinch. u move bd5 setting up for a check witch will either force him too move his king or just get check mated. then and only then when ur bishop is safe u can get a queen. u can even sac cuz ur up.
Amazing!! 👏👏
Wait. Why after underpromotion to knight white king did not go to B2? Then if black try to push C pawn, the queen would simply capture.
When it ends this interestingly you kind of want to see the WHOLE THING, I wonder if he will do a "prequel" where we get to see the early game up to this point?
4:29. what about bishop D5?
Breathtaking game
Why cant stale mate be averted by king c2?
This is just art
Ranked as a sporting ability, i wonder how many sports players on earth could compete at this level? Eg, did Nadal v Djokovic repeat these kind of moments.. Messi.. Tiger Woods...
I was existing until you said to stop what I was doing and now I'm in the backrooms
There is one thing I know for sure, I'll never even be half as good as these guys!
I like how white tried to not draw the game but then after things went bad, white tried to draw the game by stalemate. It would be draw prob if white doesnt go aggresive
Cool game and position, ruined by have the engine evaluation alongside it
Amazing. I feel so stupid now but love watching these moves explained
When I looked at the puzzle, my first thought was the Knight sacrifice. It’s safer.
I just want to know how they ended up with an almost complete set of pawns but almost no generals anymore
You missed the very important Qb6 (instead Qb4) idea !
Fantastic analysis as always
I did not expect that knight promotion at the end .
why de didn't moved his king to b2
In recap streamers are often disappointet they didn't play the "best move" or emphasize it. But this clearly shows you can play genius moves without some arbitrary engine moves one often cannot guess or even understand anyway.
Why would I stop what I'm doing? I usually watch while I'm eating.
(@8:56) Okay, but what was the best move for Anand instead of Qd4?

@JohnDoe-ti2np

@@osgubben He can't win because 1...c1Q forces 2.Qe3+ with stalemate, but there's an interesting try with 1...c1R! White then has to go for a perpetual check with 1.Qf2+. Only if Black tries 1...c1N+ does White have winning chances.
