    Fenugreek is my favourite! My hair is tailbone length because of it. I soak the seeds in water with cloves and rosemary for a week at the least (until the water gets thick, almost like aloe gel). I use this water to moisturise my hair once a week between washes. Try it!

    Add curd to the paste (before straining), use less fenugreek (same as you recommended). Also it’s a usual practice in my country to add twice the amount of Pre-soaked mung bean to the mix before grinding. Basically less fenugreek, more curd/mung bean seeds.

    What people don’t know is that fenugreek is exactly the same as a protein treatment which is not all hair (protein sensitive) can tolerate which in return can make the hair stiff and hard even cause hair damage, it’s great for hair, but high in protein content. Low porosity hair doesn’t need protein much as once a month is more than enough.. It’s no different from it and rice water, hibiscus, cloves, eggs, mayonnaise etc.. We should use them with cautious specially for low porosity, I did big chop twice because of protein overload it was so severe which I didn’t know much about low porosity hair and I continued using rice water and other protein sources without knowing it was the same thing breaking my hair and making it stiff, dry etc… I know better now

  • @FalonElise

    Same! I RUINED my hair with rice water. I didn't know what low porosity hair even was and I'd never even heard of protein overload! Crazy that more people don't talk about this stuff! I ruined my hair all the way to the root after working hard to grow it out. Two years down the drain but at least I learned a valuable lesson. I don't touch protein now. I was gonna try fenugreek but honestly my hair is fine right now, maybe i should leave well enough alone

    So many herbs we use could make hair stiff and dry. We should just listen to our hair at the moment and do what it takes to keep the balance. I used hibiscus powder with my conditioner and oil and I think I added too much and it turned out a bit clumpy, similar to the picture. Mixed and smoothed as much as I could but Washing was a bit of a hassle lol. I added aloe vera gel next time dunno if I can be consistent with all these herbs so I just drink them as teas for now lol

    Fenugreek paste penetrates and smooths my low porosity, 3B hair. The first time I tried it the wash out was difficult because it's grainy and tends to bind, so I moved to grinding 2 tablespoons of seeds ( you don't need much because it expands), adding warm water gradually as it expands, and then I blending the mixture on high to get it as smooth as possible; then I apply to detangled sectioned hair, braid or twist those sections during the application (overnight), and then rinsing those individual sections to avoid a tangled mess for next level results.

I even combined that mixture with okra gel that I freshly make. It has tons of slip and does amazing with detangling my type 4 hair. The fenugreek and aloe gel can last a long time outside of the refrigerator. I have been using this stuff for the past 2.5 years. This year I will start adding the fenugreek to my smoothies.

    The paste gets stuck in your hair and it’s a pain to get it out. I had to do a ACV rinse and a clarifying shampoo to get rid of the yellow flakes. I would recommend doing a fenugreek water rinse if you have natural hair.

    Vyala, when you rinse out your mask, do you follow with a shampoo also? I did this and it washed away most of the silky feeling but I was worried about the build up. My mask was fenugreek with hibiscus, brahmi, etc. So I just used a small amount.

    In general I try not to for the very reason you state - washing out all the silky feelings! So, I usually follow up with a conditioner or co-wash to gently remove the excess and that's usually enough. Hope this helps

    When should someone do a Ayurvedic hair mask Vs a regular deep conditioner? I plan to do more Ayurvedic treatments like henna once a month or every other month. But I’m not sure how often to do the other mask

    If your paste is strained and smooth it rinses out more easily than if it were still grainy. Never apply paste to your hair if it is not smooth!

    I was just told yesterday to use it on my scalp for psoriasis because I have to repeatedly shave my head. Psoriasis are inflammation & open sores on my scalp. Since I have no hair I'm wondering if this would be good for me. If anyone has any information I would love to know because I've been shaving my head for 3 years now and I would like to grow my hair back.

    after going natural, I developed mild sores n all shampoos made the scabs weep every time so there was no healing. Only black soap helped. I wouldn't recommend most of these ayurvedic powders that people promote - they made my scalp extremely dry, am still recovering one year later. However, fenugreek and cloves dissolved in water and used as a spray have been good to my scalp

    Which one is better, fenugreek seeds or the powder?

  • @VyalaBloom

    @VyalaBloom

    Both are great! It’s a matter of personal preference really. I prefer whole seeds as I feel like they last longer in storage, they’re versatile, and honestly they’re just more fun to use. My biggest issue with powder is that it’s rarely fine enough to be able to just add some water and have a smooth paste immediately. And so you still need to go through a similar process making fenugreek paste as you would with whole seeds (recipe for this is in the description box). You may get a more potent fenugreek tea using the powder (though I have not tried this).

    some fengreek tend to have stronger smell and some light smell so try to go for the light smell one ,,i find that sweating (workout in warm temp.) and drinking lots of water , lemon ,strwberry juice or ginger and mint tea help to remove the smell from the skin faster and using a good body wash . however useing it during the weekend will be the safest option.
