STOP Making This Mistake. How To Do More Burpees Faster.

Ойын-сауық

Over the last few videos, I've been trying to complete 275 6 count burpees, in 20 minutes. ‪@busydadtraining‬
In this video I stop using an older strategy, which had worked for me in the past. It was time to move on, and try something different.
Instead of trying the same old approach over and over again, and expecting a different outcome, I implemented a new plan to try and reach my goal.

01:30 The same old approach
08:21 This is hard
11:31 The new plan

    Congratulations David, fantastic performance 🫡👍💥 Thanks for the shout out there, you smashed my PR. You’ve inspired me to reconsider going for level 4, my excuse so far is I prefer the purple t-shirt, lame I know 😂. 6 counts are hard and you took them on and achieved your goal in style. We’ll done again 😎

You can always get to level 4 and still rock the purple shirt🤷‍♂️. Anyway, I’m sure you will keep training hard brother. Enjoy your weekend and we will chat again soon👊.

    Hi David, I re watched this again today and really like the voice over format and the insights. For me, I am pushing for level 3 and currently at 220. I have adapted your EMOM format and it's working for me, as I am able (currently) to add a couple of reps each workout. You come the closest to explaining the mental toughness required during the no man's land section.

    Hey Eugene man👊. I got say brother, I’m happy to hear that a few of my thoughts have been useful. Your message was certainly encouraging brother, so thanks for that. As for your workouts, good work on pushing towards, and now beyond 220 man. There are a ton of ways you can look at that. but you’re basically holding 11 reps a minute, for 20 minutes, which isn’t easy by any stretch of the imagination. And no mans land is definitely a mental game hey brother! If you can get through it, you can then start to see and taste victory over the last 5 minutes👍. Thanks for the update! Stop back anytime Eugene. I’d love to celebrate with you when you reach your next milestone!

    Hey brother👊. That’s a great result for just busting out some reps. If you did them more regularly, you’d easily get up into the 280’s and be pushing for 300. There’s a small part of me that wants to keep pushing and see if I can get to 300. I think that would be an uncomfortable 20 minutes haha. Keep training hard Eelco man✊💯! good systematic approach and congrats on your podcast with tjibbe gaastra. are you still doing all your other training, or are you suspending that while you chase this goal? busy dad only does 4? sessions/ week, and nothing else, except 10 daily pullups. maybe, some off days help get those numbers. you could always just do some stretching on rest days if you don't like being idle. i like to train every day, i just don't go hard like you guys do. i find burpees really wipe me out, and i'm doing far fewer at less intensity than what you're doing.

  • @DavidWhitten

    @DavidWhitten

    8 ай бұрын

    I usually take one rest/stretching day a week Bruce. Ideally I do a yoga session on this rest day but that doesn’t always work out. I didn’t train today simply because of work and family commitments, so this will just naturally be my rest day. So it that regard, yes I am still training 6 days a week. I am not going to reduce my volume down to just 80 minutes a week. Heck, I trained for almost 80 minutes with Tjibbe just yesterday haha👍. I think I have dialled back the intensity though on my other training. I’m not lifting anything to heavy. I also try and make sure I’ve had at least one clear day of non strenuous upper body work, before I go after one of those 20 minute navy seal workouts. I want to be as fresh as possible for those👍. I find with the 6 counts, it’s not a matter of if I can physically do it, it comes down to the mental strength to push through, when my body is hurting and telling me to stop. And rest easy man, it’s not a bad or harmful pain. It’s just that voice that says to stop because it’s hard or challenging. Navy seals on the other hand are different all together. I currently don’t have the actual physical strength to do the 120 reps in 20 minutes. I’ve got to build up that muscle endurance, within that shorter window of time. It will come, it’s just gonna take a couple more try’s👍. Sorry for the rant haha. Thanks for sharing your thoughts as always Bruce. It is definitely something I appreciate👊.

    I don’t know if it helps or not Duncan. I think maybe psychological, because I think my feet are a bit lighter🤷‍♂️. But I know that is utter foolishness😂. I’d never do navy seals in socks though, for the exact reason you mentioned. Having your feet slide around isn’t ideal at all. And the patches you see aren’t sweat, they are the wear marks from my feet jumping back into the plank position. There’s also wear marks in the middle of the mat, where I jump back up to my feet. That mat has literally seen ten’s of thousands of reps😅. Hopefully I’ll get my latest navy seal video posted tomorrow. Managed to sneak a few reps closer to 120👍. Cheers Duncan!
